This past week has probably been some of the best news in golf that i have heard in a long time.

Up here in PA, we have settled into winter and i was about ready to put my clubs up(well other than hit a few 60 degree chips in my house) when i receive some amazing news! One of the directors at the gym/ sports training facility that i go to, that i had conversations with previously regarding the project, finally let out that the indoor golf cage was actually ready for use! Boy am i excited. The closest indoor range previously was over 1.5 hours away. just not feasible for everyday practice, but now only 12 mins. away, I will finally get to continue to focus on my swing throughout the winter months.

It doesn't stop there however, in the following days at work, I received an email that i would be traveling to Las Vegas for a conference for work, expenses paid, in mid-January! Being that it starts on a Monday, a few of my co-workers and I have converted the weekend into a short golf vacation, only needing to book 1 night for Saturday! While its not Houston, or Ft. Meyers, there is a good chance i will be able to enjoy some 50+ degree weather. definitely more suitable than the 29 it currently sits at. I would say the golf gods are on my side.

does anybody recommend a course out in Las Vegas for us to play? I have taken a quick look and have already ruled out one course, the Wynn Golf Club...$500 is a bit much, (as well as i refuse to play those super high end courses until i can play well enough to actually somewhat enjoy them!) Either way any suggestions would be great!

Anybody else experiencing some great blessings from the golf gods?

One swing at a time...

It was hot in central FL yesterday. Mid 80s and humid. I'll take it.

I'm just answering his question. I would say that this is an example of what his post was all about. :-D

Yes it is! We had below freezing, then snow, then 60F, then 20s four days in a row.

I'm lucky to have an indoor range 10 minutes from the house. I usually go there once a week in the off season. He used to have an area with just nets for $15 per hour, but now all he has are either teaching bays with video or launch monitors. $30 per hour.

There is also an indoor golf place about 30 minutes away with sims and a nice restaurant/bar.

@boogielicious The best part about this past weekend was that I am bach'ing it since the wife is in Ohio. Played on both Sat and Sun.

I've only been here 5 months, but I certainly don't regret it AT ALL. The summer was really hot, but I still played.

If you have access to a car, I enjoyed the Paiute courses. They are quite a bit out of the city limits.  Set you back $100-$120 for a round in January. You might also check GolfNow for other courses and pricing.

I am not a Las Vegas regular so some others will likely have better advice.  I believe January is considered "off season" so you may be able to score a deal.  Frost/cold might be a problem early in the morning.

Yeah it was. Needed lots of water and Gatorade out on course. Same as today. Just got done.

Good luck in Vegas and have fun!

Thanks for the good wishes. Just returned from my trip.

I decided to play at Bears Best Golf Course. first word to describe it, phenomenal! what a great course. definitely a challenging course, there are a good amount of bunkers and hazards surrounding greens, as well as some interesting fairways that make you choose wisely.  but i would definitely recommend this course to anyone and would love to play this course again. The staff was very friendly and they have a great practice area to use right before your round of golf.

Also its great when you play a good round of golf as well.  Was better able to take in the scenery when i was hitting fairways and knocking in some nice putts, and a chip in birdie as well.

If you head to vegas consider checking out Bears Best.

It's great that you had a chance to play and played well.  Did you book through GolfNow or direct with the course?  About what did it cost for 18 and was it a deal or the rack rate?

I ended up booking direct with the course, however i did it from their website. I booked it on friday night for saturday afternoon and got it for $49, a little under half of their rack rate.
