Hi All,

With the new R&A; rules now in forc e in the UK, I need to change my driver.

I bought a TM R510 last year and I find it a brilliant club, the only problem was the sound and distance, I felt I wasn't getting enought distance compared to my Steelhead III.

My problem is that I want a driver with a head size of no larger than 350cc.

Can anyone recomend a good driver below this head size please. I liked my Callaway but it wasn't as straight as the TM, the TM doesn't havew the distance the Cally did. What about Titleist? do they have anything around 350cc?

Many thanks

Tom

For drivers, the smallest I've seen any new models in is 425cc. Out of curiosity, what's your reasoning for wanting a smaller headed driver than even the pros use?

Some of the older titleist heads come to mind 975 series. I dont believe the 983K is much bigger than that. 365cc I believe, but don't hold me to that. Another good one that you didn't hear much about were the Nicklaus Multi Layer 380 and Cobra had some good ones in the SS380 and I belive there was a 350cc SS also. All these heads can be had CHEAP! Hope this helps.

Titleist 983E. 350cc head. Very long. Great club. Have one in the bag.

Funnily enough I'm just looking into this one now. I might give it a bash, for the amount it costs on ebay if it doesn't work out I've not lost much.

The reason for a smaller head is that I won a Progen Full Bore a few years ago and when I swung it I felt like I was playing tennis rather than golf and to me I felt uncomfortable with that size head. Thanks for your advices, please keep them coming. Regards, Tom

i too feel more comfortable with a smaller head, when these bigger drivers starting coming out i lost alot of control and starting getting wild off the tee. i just use a 3 wood and hit 10-12 fairways a round. i may be looking into this also.

one thing i like about smaller heads on drivers is the fact that you can hit them off the fairway. i have the original big bertha 9.5 driver (it's not in my bag, i only use it maybe once a year when i play my local muni) it helps on those long par fives where a three wood cant get you there and you don't want to lay up.....and can't hit a driver

just a quick rambling story-i was playing in the end of year scramble, and our 1 handicap hole is a 450 yard par four-its always dead into the wind-our second shots were all short with 3 woods, so our last guy build a little tee off grass for fun, and hit driver...it almost went in, but we didn't use it, cause i think thats against the rules-oh well good fun. we came in third
