My kids are not old enough to even think about driving the cart, but I remember when I was a kid I would sit in my grandfathers lap and he would let me drive b/c I could not reach the pedals. Right when I could reach the pedals he would let me drive without his assistance. He kinda raised me to be well disciplined, so I do not think he was worried about me doing something stupid on it.

Maybe once it warms up and I go to the course this year I will let my 4 year old sit on my lap and try to drive some. She loves to come with me when I play golf because she loves the cart so much. Its actually really good father daughter bonding time.

My son was allowed to drive for the first time when he was 6.  Like most others, I wouldn't let him drive near cliffs, bridges, or across roads or anything.  He's almost 8 now and that is still the case.  This is from the first time, June, 2015:

(I like how "gently" he depressed the gas when I tell him to go.) :-P

Most courses here require a driver's license, but I have not seen it enforced as of yet. I have seen grown men drive a cart so erratically they would be arrested if in a car on a public road.

I had my daughter driving me around as soon as she could reach the pedal and we were away from the clubhouse.

I even had her driving my car around the neighborhood a couple years before getting her permit. Shhhh- don't tell mom. Our little secret.

To this day, she's proud of being the best driver of any of her friends. I visited her in Italy in August (my avatar is a course near her), and man, can she fly down the Autostrasse at some serious speed!!!!

@Gaetano Fasano knows how fast they can drive in northern Italy.

hahaha :-D, you're right RandallT. Confirmed.

My daugther started this year (she's 8) but controls the steering only, me the pedals ;-).
