Something I've struggled with since I've picked up golf has been the issue of trying to "hit" the ball instead of swinging through the ball. I'm the guy that always says "my practice swings felt so good" but can't seem to make that same swing when addressing the ball.  During my practice swing everything is nice and fluid, yet it all changes when addressing the ball and I end up trying to swing at the ball and help it up. Any tips on how to transfer that nice fluid practice swing over? I know this is a mental thing when addressing the ball, but Im just seeing what kind of strategies everybody uses to get over this issue.

Thanks,

Kyle

The clubface during your practice swings is probably wide open through impact.  It's important that when you make practice swings to make sure the toe swings through.

Just a guess.

Imo the smooth swing you feel when you practice swing should match what you do with the ball.

I have a similar issue with practice vs real swing. It's almost like there is some force field that goes into place when the ball is there. It's actually kind of an interesting mental game that I'm always trying to conquer. Let me know if you figure it out. I'm considering hypnosis. :-D

I use old Taylor Made clubs from eBay and golf shops.

@kpetrina, I suggest you start your own thread in the Member Swings area:

Be sure to click on the Hidden Contents button, so understand how that section works, and follow this link:

to get tips on filming your golf swing.  Good video angles will be help the knowledgeable instructors here to analyze your swing and advise you appropriately.  From what I see, you'll need to get your camera to around waist level, and provide a face-on video if you can.
