That is kind of what I did after I started wearing bifocals, or "progressive" lenses. I took in a pair of old frames and had them make a set of lenses to fit that had only my distance scrip.

Maybe it's because the progressives were new to me at the time, but it doesn't bother me nearly as much now as it did then.

You could try moving your glasses a little farther out on your nose. See if you can get a l pair made up that meets youe needs..
