Day 105 - 2025-01-13

Worked on the backswing hinging stuff that I've been doing since November. Still planning to do the HackMotion thing at some point to confirm I'm good. Maybe get on GEARS myself.

Day 34: 1/13/2025

Got to the range total, a bit cold out, but it was great to check out ball flight on my swing. Did nearly all block work with a 6 iron.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Day 180: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during rest breaks as well.

Day 254 (13 Jan 25) - Caught a few swings with the 7i and hard foam balls.  Keyed on foot position and working thru swing to maintain consistent weight shift onto lead foot by making 1/2-3/4 swings rather than swinging out my shoes

Day 12 - Grandson childcare duties kept me away from the range today. Got some valuable feedback from Erik and went to work on mirror and wall work to exaggerate my weight shifts.

Day 35: 1/14/2025

Okay, Got to the range first thing this morning. I had a work meeting get cancelled and so I decided to film my swing. It was early, and it was cold... very cold. But I filmed my swing anyway. Which felt like I was swinging it about half as good as I had been swinging yesterday after work.

Can't decide, maybe filming the swing on an "off" day is a good thing. Maybe it's better to film on an "on" day. ... Who knows.

Day 13 - An hour at the range, working on slow swings, pre-loading my weight shift to the right and encouraging earlier transition forward. Not surprisingly this resulted in poor contact shots; some shanks, lot of push fades. But every 5-10 swings I would go "normal" and seem to be seeing good results. Had the iPad mirror in front of me to monitor.

Day 255 (14 Jan 25)  - More work with the setup/pre-shot routine today with the Pw.  Hit a few balls to set distances in five shot groups.  Today control was pretty consistent, 5 shot groups averaging 4 of 5 within 10’ radius of the target - of course the distances were 15 to 30 yds.

Day 106 - 2025-01-14

Got some swings in after a lesson and while the furnace was getting a new inducer motor installed.

Day 182: Got out my net and mat and hit some real balls in my garage! This was very much block practice - working on my backswing stuff. Based on the filming I did, I see improvement needed through about A3-A4. But before that looks pretty good, and even A3-A4 look better.

Day 256 (15 Jan 25) - Easy day of some lag putting drills as it was a bit too cool for outside work.  Putting tempo - smooth acceleration through the ball and rolling from knee knocker (3'-6') and lag (12'-16') on the bedroom carpet.

Day 36: 1/15/2025

Did a combination of mirror work with full swing work in the garage. Put the heater on in the garage and then spent time going from the mirror to the hitting net. Everything was a 7 iron today. Most of the focus was on my hips and the direction of the forces coming through the ground.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

    • Yea, I’ve kinda of been off the sugar hate train for a while.
    • References for my debate with Gary Taubes on The Joe Rogan Experience and Why Sugar Did Not Cause the Obesity Epidemic Sugar has been blamed for causing the obesity epidemic by many ‘experts’, but Dr. Layne Norton explains why it’s unlikely sugar caused the obesity crisis
    • Day 111 - 2025-01-19 Got to GE particularly early today, before Junior Elite, and hit some balls before that. My left thumb was sore like it was about a month ago, which was odd. It feels better now as I type this up nearly 12 hours later, but it was sore last night and still this morning.
    • Day 260 (19 Jan 25) - Woke to misty rain and was thinking that I would be limited to inside work today.  Late afternoon break in the weather (mild temps and a few rays of sunshine) led to a 15 mins or so of hitting the 58deg wedge around the backyard at 10-20yds.  Simple drill goal - "don't get flippy" but rather rotate smoothly through.  This was key as I tend to want to help higher lofted wedges 58/60 - today was solidly on the smoother side of execution.
    • I'm inclined to agree - I used to putt with a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 and to aim it straight, it had to look like it was about a foot right from 10 feet. I switched to a mallet (Odyssey Eleven I have now) and I can aim that far more easily. What looks straight is straight. I did watch a video with a coach on youtube who was suggesting that your eye position relative to the ball affects where you think the putter is aimed. So he would line up the putter for a player, then have them move around until it looked like the putter was aimed at the target and then that would be where he had them set up to it. I suspect that people move where they stand over time and that might cause the aiming of the putter to change over time.  Funny thing is I asked Sam Hahn a very similar question myself in September and he gave quite a different response to this. LAB offers more alignment line options than any putter manufacturer I have ever seen (I guess outside of a handful of bespoke artisanal type places) - I wonder why they do that if the alignment lines don't make much of a difference.
