Day 12 (30 Jan 26) -  Had hoped the men’s group would be playing, but the cold temps and delayed opening kept them at bay. Spent some time on the range working on loading the trail foot on the backswing (focusing on loading the inner portion of the foot and collapsing the knee slightly toward the ball). Learned too much really brought on a left pull.  Easing back a bit, really helped compressing the ball and overall accuracy.  Took it to the course for a practice round, focusing on this small change.  Saw better dispersion across the bag….guess this will be part of the mirror work drills as snowpacolypse 2 hits eastern NC.

Day 66: Played 18! Wasn't really keeping track of score, but guessing in the low 80s. Driving okay, iron play up and down, lagging putting really bad. Overall, it was good to get out and play.

Day 488 - 2026-01-31

Got on GEARS Hybrid. Backswing is pretty good, though I can minimize some of my sway. It's bigger than I thought. And a little reverse axis tilt.

Day 29: 2026.01.31

Played 18. Semi finals of team matchplay so wasn't finishing out every hole and was more focused on score than process/swing so probably not the most productive round.

Day 171 1-31

Good practice session today. Worked more on flow and a shortwr pause at the top of the backswing/arching wrist.

Day 13 (31 Jan. 26) - Due to the nice snow storm, opted to do mirror work focused on  the trail knee shift to load weight onto ball and heel of trail foot going from P3 thru P5.

Day 31, 1/31.  I was away most of yesterday (pretty much after my morning practice) and today until a few minutes ago, but I brought with me a section of pipe I bought over the summer, initially to practice grip.  I was able to use this to get to positions (and, in particular, to see where the grip was at the top of my backswing, related to what I've been working on).

Day 30: 2026.02.01

Some slow, exaggerated swings in the garden. Raising the arms still feels odd in the top half of the backswing, so just trying to get used to the sensation.

    • The launch monitor is a good idea actually. Par Ace was a company that came about in the late 80s through the 90s, and wound down in the early 2000s (based out of Florida). They were known for budget/clone clubs, but they were known for hitting surprisingly well. Harvey Penick, he wrote a number of golf books (including the legendary Little Red Book of Golf). He was a golf instructor in Texas, and taught/influenced golfers like Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw and others. The Take Dead Aim clubs were designed by him and licensed to Golfsmith. So these are older clubs, although in mint condition and regripped. The Ping Eye 2s, well, everyone knows about those and those clubs are awesome. Mine were in great shape (I gave them to my son in law but he discovered he is a blue or black dot so he said he is going to return those to me). The Titleists, I cut those shafts down 1/2" and regripped them myself. Those were my go-tos before trying out these blades.  But, as accurate as they seem to be - even MORE accurate than the Titleists - I cannot afford to be hitting short all the time, and confused about what club I should be grabbing. I will try out that launch monitor and see what happens! When it gets warmer that is.

    • Tried JV swing for about 2-3 months in 2025 and I believe it screwed up my left knee.
    • Backswing I need to control the knee movement. Don’t let the left knee travel too far right. Which then keeps my hips from over rotating. Keep knee rotation controlled. The left knee was getting into an unstable compromising position.  Overall feeling of, the hips and knees feel facing forward, resisting the torso turn. Just slide the hips right and turn torso with the lower body resisting the turn. The chest is going feel facing down more through out the backswing to keep the spine angle near 90 degrees (upright). I tended to lose axis tilt, leaning towards the target. Some feels are the right knee and hip gain flex as I turn. Left knee stays stable, don’t let it kick in. I think controlling the knees is what is going to work best. I have to do it with a weight shift.  The right arm flexes more from the shoulder, gaining width between the tricep and chest. The right arm goes straight up away from my chest. Then allow my right shoulder blade to retract. This helps me get the full turn and keep the swing wide, not needing my right elbow to bend a ton. It also lets me feel like I finish the turn.   Downswing Keep back of my neck, at the top of the shoulders, facing the target as I shift my lower body towards the target and lower the arms. That point on my neck shouldn’t shift a ton towards the target. At least not the amount I was doing. I need to maintain the spin tilt longer.  It’s going to feel like my chest points down and away from the target as I get the left hip and knee over my left foot to push off of. it’s probably going to feel like I am way behind the ball relative to my head/torso.  I should have my weight over the outside left part of my left heel earlier in the downswing and through impact. The inside of my left shoe should come off the ground a bit.
