I've got a problem with lifting my club at the start of the backswing. I prefer to fix it. In the meantime, I've come to realize this works well with a punch shot type of swing - started by a forward press. My best shots have always been punching out of trouble (from the trees) or the low lay up shot on a par 5. Anyone else have success with this shot?

Partial swings are a great way to make good contact and gives you options, especially on windy days. I also use them as warm ups at the range because it dials in the feel as I loosen up.

I don't see that here in your video:

When I was starting to play again during my rehab, a 1/2 - 3/4 punch shot was all I was using.

I found I scored quite well. Obviously distance was way low per club, but my accuracy was way up there.

I think it's a very viable swing for for some golfers trying to break 100, or even 90 for that matter.

That's a dated video.

It's not that old. It's from like five months ago.

I doubt your swing is remarkably different.

I think having a way to get round the course when you're having a bad day (especially because of bad contact) is vital, maybe this is the way for you. Better to practice doing things properly at the range or on solo rounds I think.

You probably already know, but you'll not be able to control where the punch will stop very easily.
