I haven't posted in a while and used the search function for some relatively good answers. However, I'm looking for something specific. I have a buddy from out of the country who is leaving in a couple of weeks, and want to play one more round before he leaves. Unfortunately, Chicago's weather is really cold and the nice courses aren't open yet (Thinking Thunderhawk up north or TPC Deere Run out west). We're trying to get a round in this coming Saturday, and I know that going a little south will give us warmer weather in Indiana. I'm thinking of Birck Boilermaker-Kampen. The weather's going to be decent, and it's not too far from the city.

Are there any other recommendations for Indiana Golf (preferably Northern) that's open at this time of year?

Thanks!

I would personally go to Ackerman rather than Kampen, but that's just me.

A few other of my favorites are Tippecanoe County Club (shorter, but tough and great holes) and the Trophy Club (one of the best north of Indy).

In my bag:

Taylormade RBZ 3-wood
Nike VRS Irons 4-9

Thanks for the recommendations! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Tippecanoe or The Trophy Club are open now.

The Warren Course at Notre Dame is a great track. US Senior Open will be there in 2019.

Just an older guy with 7 or 8  clubs and a MacKenzie Walker bag

Local here. In West Lafayette we have three fantastic courses. You can't go wrong with Kampen or Ackerman at Purdue. Ackerman was extensively renovated a few years back and I now prefer it to Kampen. Kampen is, in my experience, much tougher but still very fun. We also have Coyote Crossing which has made a few Golf Digest lists. It's a great track where I spent my summers working in high school.

    • Day 19: worked with foam balls for a while. Going slow to make sure I’m rolling and twisting. It feels weird, which is good. Going to take more work, but I’m on the way I think.
    • Day 39 (16 Apr 26) - Back to easy swings as the lead foot was overly tender from yesterday - stuck to some easy pitches with wedges and a few 1/2 tempo swings with 6i.  Was good to slow down and work on setup and overall alignment…
    • I saved the ball and wrote the details -- "my first eagle," course, hole number, and date on it.  Maybe I should write the yardage and the club too.
    • Day 8, April 16.  Continued pelvis turn drills after work today;  I've already spent 20 minutes doing this, am taking a short break (and have fulfilled the challenge for the day) and then I'm back to it.
    • Played 9 holes tonight. Driver is hit or miss, but I haven’t practiced that at all. It was a struggle to get sequencing down for the arms and lower body. I definitely have to do my downswing wrist piece a lot or I just push the crap out of the ball. Pitching needs some work. Chipping was good, chipped in twice. Putting was fine.  Shank Counter: 2
