I watched some of the rerun last night before I knew who won it all. Comments like this have always intrigued me. Generally speaking, it seems like whenever someone comes along with a faster tempo, explosive swing that isnt quite "textbook", people say it looks painful and that injuries will happen. 

They showed a slow motion swing from face on and DTL last night when I was watching and while it is unorthodox, I wouldnt consider it painful, if anything I would consider it extremely athletic and explosive.

Curious, what specifically about his swing looks painful to you?

When he shallows the club and whips it through. Gankas said he has some of the highest ground forces ever measured, 290 X his weight I believe is what he said. In order to do that he must be using some serious lower body action along with some serious arm swing. 

As I said it looks like it puts a lot of strain on his knees/hips. And I never said injuries will happen.
