Beer and golf don't mix for me. Tried it once, and couldn't play anything that resembled the game at all.

Attempted and proven several times:

One beer and my game gets better
Two beers and it is as if I had never played in my life

I really dont like to drink on the course, I always play worse. I need that focus to play well. I think I'd have to be pretty trashed to actually enjoy it after drinkin. All it takes is 2 or 3 beers and ruins the round for me. I like to focus on the game, then I can enjoy it more because I play better.

Never seen anyone play better from drinking, but everyone who drinks swears that it's going to help them settle down, and of course no one stops at one, which provides the perfect excuse for missed shots and when they hit the inevitable good shot they declare it's because drinking has helped them relax.

a sociable beer can relax you which helps.

On the morning of my wedding I played 11 holes with family & friends and we had the whisky on the go - all good fun.

I've had a round of golf with friends a few years ago entitled "a beer a hole"... I would not recommend this in a competition mind you, but it was good fun! 18 bottles of Bud each in 18 holes was messy to say the least. I did not birdie the 18th. I think I was about 9 off the tee for starters.

In a competition, no, wouldn't touch it. On a social round, why not. A chilled beer is ideal if you ask me!

its the same with pool - I play better after a couple of beers. too many and I lose the plot though.

I probably won't play beer a hole again. Probably.
