I am a female player and by no means really good. But I can play well enough I think.

That was good advise from Grizvok about the head tilt. Your body has been unbalanced from the beginning, both your head and that leg movement. Our head helps to balance our body. My husband taught me that as he was a great diver.

I watched your first video back from 2018 and you have improved. Do you fell like you are compressing the ball now?

What you talked about back in 2018 was wanting to keep your trail elbow in the slot/pocket. And you are correct about that. What I saw as holding you back on that was your trail hip/right hip was blocking your downswing.

When you setup, think of being "Solid" with your legs and feet being "solid" "owning" the ground. That is "balance".  Sure you should stick your butt out but modestly curve your back enough so that when your downswing comes thru your "Hips" are not in the way. Curve modestly like a letter "C", with the knees slightly bent enough to help you be the one in control while that club comes down to compress that ball directly on it's sweet spot.

At setup "Balance" is also an "open" chest diaphram with the head sitting in the middle. When balanced, just modestly "hinge" the right hip only... while the head, shoulders, hips, feet, legs are "balanced". You are also trying to hinge too much. The power will come. The compression is first.

Also, you seem like such a hard worker. In person lessons, lessons, lessons... will pay off for you. Learn good basics from a professional in person, geared to only you. Along with watching some female golfers on U-tube and teenage players in their leagues. They are awesome. The men are much too fast on videos. I watch them on the golf channel though. Slow motion of Michele Wei would be perfect for you. I also like Phil Mickelson for putting and chipping, Johnny Miller for shoulder movement. For Lag Putting my instructor is who I learn from. absolutely... he is better than Jason Day. If you are a good lag putter you will win.

Hope I haven't overstepped. You do look much better than '2018... wishing you the best...

Lol it’s ok.

ive been taking lessons from @iacas since the beginning..page 3 maybe? He’s been really good for me.  Besides the obvious of telling me what moves to make, they thought me how to practice here. I did not know how to practice properly before and never really improved.

There are some lesson posts mixed in, prob a little hard to find all through the pages.

i definitely compress the ball more now. I used to carry my 3 hybrid 200 yards, now I can hit my 6i that far if I max it out.

I really don’t think my duck hooks are about balance, I’m striking it well...but I’ll get to the bottom of these duck hooks and post about it-so I remember how to fix them next time too!

Duck hook lesson

P1. Most important change IMO

3B2BF578-FBC0-440F-B525-5D7DF4AB6897.jpeg.fffb841444713dfd789d2f1fc1df55c2.jpeg

Grip and set up were out of control.

Now: Much weaker grip. Way less shaft lean at setup. Feels like shaft points at my belt buckle.

P2

A588CAC4-03A5-4D5B-97EA-7904B63A0CCF.jpeg.7f4cda4451ccc3621d9190f96eaa0e55.jpeg

My upper center was moving way too much off the ball.

New feel is lead shoulder down, trail hip up.

P3

Not so far behind the ball. From this position, I can fall forward (leaning tower). I’m basically able to “do my moves”

P4

I was able to do my leaning tower move. I’m not so far behind the ball.

P5

Upper and lower bodies are more stacked here. Good

Note:

Downswing feels much steeper and impact feels “flippy” because I had very strong grip and was holding off release.

Session 7-15-20

GOALS:

  1. Setup: weaker grip, less shaft lean, posture-a tad (butt out, arms hang)
  2. Backswing: left shoulder down, right hip up, leaning tower
  3. Downswing: “release club”

7132F0F6-49B4-42D5-AFAE-3947A567D4FA.jpeg.2dabf9b727eca46d19c0b51ee217c411.jpeg

Backswing did not feel deep at all, but it looked good. So I’ll try to deal with it.

Will do more leaning tower next time

Downswing felt steep and flippy because I was used to the old (bad) pattern. Draws felt the same as push fades.

Overall big improvement.

TODAYS SESSION 7-17-20

Goals:

  1. Setup. Less Shaft lean, weaker grip
  2. Backswing. Less sway. Lead shoulder- down, trail hip-up
  3. Transition. Leaning tower
  4. Downswing. Don’t hold off hands-let club “release”

NOTES:

From P1-P2 my hands are moving away from me. I’m not used to the way the club looks, and it feels like I’m taking it way outside. I’d like the hands to track in a tad

I think this will cause problems with longer clubs. I’m going to try to figure out a feel when i practice slow motion in the mirror.

43E593E8-CE3E-4246-ACF5-E9E5D42AEBA1.jpeg.15b4e1ca8894246f2c230c8cc653d2d6.jpeg

P3-P5

Was not able to do too much leaning tower today. There wasn’t enough focus to go around.

Upper and lower body were not “stacked enough”. Will try more next time.

Overall, decent session

7-19-20

Goals:

  1. Setup: Weaker grip, less shaft lean
  2. Takeaway: Get hands to track a tad inside. Don’t let hands get farther from body from P1-P2
  3. Backswing: Less sway, steep shoulders (lead shoulder down, trail hip up )
  4. Transition: Leaning tower. Be more “stacked” at P4.5

Goal 1: Setup

441FA04B-F7BC-4C81-AE37-117AEF1579A7.jpeg.8d37d9299c87a4a8e6f2ec6ec4dc106c.jpeg

  • Happy with shaft lean
  • ”Weaker Grip” is at the minimum threshold of success
  • Note: the indent in the lead wrist is good-this is success. But that indent is what’s messing with my takeaway.

Goals 2,3 are more like 2a and 2b

#2 Wrist conditions at setup:

I was used to the shaft being in line with my arm (hands forward), and i was used to that takeaway.

its such a different feel to get my “wrists set” or tracking in. This is what I need to figure out.

Its almost as if the wrist needs to roll more than before? Unsure

#3 Steep backswing

If I can get the takeaway a little more inside, I think I can do the move “lead shoulder low, trail hip high” and be in business

When I do the “steep move” straight away, the club feels outside throughout the backswing and the swing doesn’t seem to work.

Goal 4: Transition (leaning tower)

CD175732-281C-4122-8D51-DAFFDBC41009.jpeg.ae7d2b53f58a3e364c6b4652e424f9d8.jpeg

I did a better job today of getting “stacked”. I need to do a little better moving forward. When I get this right, I really hit the ball well.

I strongly believe this is the move that got my ball striking to the next level.

Overall frustrating session.

I’m really annoyed with myself that I can’t take the club away. Then I hurt my wrist on a super slow practice swing, just annoying.

Goals:

  1. Setup
  2. Backswing- inside takeaway, steep shoulders
  3. transition- leaning tower

Setup:

  • Shaft not leaning forward
  • Grip isn’t “too strong”
  • Ball position forward

Backswing:

I did a lot of mapping getting the takeaway a tad to the inside. Club did not feel outside

5DC9B32D-88D6-40C6-A988-14B992242A92.jpeg.aef26e75a172b72696640cf76e829d52.jpeg

However, shoulders were not steep enough going back causing a tiny over the top move during P4

Later Swings were better with more focus on “lead shoulder down, trail hip up”, but video was lost/ corrupted.

Leaning Tower

  • A little too much sway at P2
  • Not “stacked” enough by P4.5

For next time:

  1. Steeper turn, less sway. Will put most focus into “Lead shoulder down, trail hip up” will really try to feel a stretch in that move
  2. Work on leaning tower

Took today off from hitting balls, wrist is almost back to 100%. I’m hoping to be ready to compete by Saturday.

Don't use Hudl. It hasn't been updated in like a year. I let my subscription lapse after like three or four years of having one because it's buggy and sucks.

  • 2 weeks later...

Now that I’ve got through some scheduled tournaments / big money golf league stuff, I can finish getting through my last lesson. (Duck hook stuff).

This is almost a soft reset. I was playing with major band-aids.  My goals are to be able to close the club-face (bow wrist feel) on the downswing while not having to much shaft lean. Duck hooks be gone!

Todays Session 8-3-20

GOALS:

  1. Weak grip, neutral set-up (shaft lean)
  2. Steep shoulders on backswing with some leaning tower by end of P4
  3. DOWNSWING: Bow wrist a tad to close face. Push up with lead side to make sure there isn’t too much shaft lean at impact. See picture below.17282372-99CF-48FD-BE0B-1DE4ED032989.jpeg.6485e91d6c23aa7a9b866c8ecf97b313.jpeg

This is a picture from an older lesson, but this is how I plan to combat too much shaft lean at impact.

7 iron swings

Swings were close to 100% speed. I had to take slightly slower backswings to keep my thoughts in order (obtain “success”)

NOTES:

GOAL 1: Setup

D00BC56E-CE0C-41DC-804C-9BDC7DD89732.jpeg.a0c5421c916c5e7bbbadd2d57c01619c.jpeg

  1. Grip felt very weak- tried to keep right thumb on the grip. Must get away from the grip being too strong. Lead arm looks odd, unsure?
  2. Happy with neutral shaft lean at setup.

GOAL 3: Downswing

2D4B52CD-47E4-498A-9873-D839D5E9C987.jpeg.7b20b5136ae07e238d79881c35d90032.jpeg

  1. I was able to bow wrist (close the face) on the downswing. Have to get used to this again. I was in a bad pattern of really “holding off the face” to not duck hook it.
  2. I pushed up hard with my lead side. I’m happy that I could bow the wrist without getting too much shaft lean at impact.

Overall good session.

Todays Session 8-4-20

GOALS: Main goal is to face a more open face in backswing-then close face on downswing.

  1. SETUP: Weaker grip, neutral shaft lean
  2. BACKSWING: Steep shoulder turn (lead shoulder down, trail hip up). With some leaning tower
  3. DOWNSWING: Close face on way down with wrist bow. Go “up” with lead side to eliminate too much shaft lean.

7i Swings

Overall very good session. Was really able to build off of success yesterday.

Decent setup. Grass was wet, was guarding against slipping. I’ll make sure ball is farther forward next time.

Happy with shaft lean at impact.

With 3 hybrid-Misses were not duck-hooks or slices. They were high hooks. I’m making progress.

Next session I will move to clubs higher than 3H.

Today’s Session 8-5-20

GOALS:

  1. SETUP: Weak grip, Neutral shaft lean
  2. BACKSWING: Steep shoulder turn and leaning tower
  3. DOWNSWING: Bow wrist to close face, Go “up” with lead side

7i Swings

Not a very good session. I couldn’t get my shoulder turn to feel steep enough and got fixated with that. Maybe my back was a little tight, I dunno.

SETUP:

Shaft lean looks good. I keep getting my grip just a tad weaker, that looks good I think.

IMPACT

A little too much shaft lean. I didn’t go “up” enough with lead side. I didn’t focus on it enough this session.

Today’s Session 8-12-20

GOALS: Same stuff from previous lesson

  1. SETUP: Weaker grip, neutral shaft lean, ball forward
  2. BACKSWING: Less away going back (lead shoulder down, trail hip up) with leaning tower after P2
  3. DOWNSWING: Bow wrist to close face, go “up” with lead side so I don’t have too much shaft lean at impact

7i Swings

SUMMARY:

Not a great session. Ball striking felt ugly (flippy and fat)

D6969ECC-2D26-4489-9439-4CD43ACEC40B.jpeg.9881d01906866cc4b2a6a48175b17fd0.jpeg

Shaft lean at impact was ok. If you watch the video, my lead knee was bouncing around through impact again

I’ve been having trouble with a fade happening out of nowhere. This is probably why.

C69CF2F7-180C-4F12-968F-611C98838881.jpeg.91493014701cf1b9e8905690b434c399.jpeg

Shaft way to steep here. Not happy about it. Don’t know where this came from either. Ugh

I kind of don’t know which part of my swing to focus on at the moment.

I’ll to do some mapping at home before my next session

Left arm is a bit out at A5. Shaft follows a little. Both can be just a little bit deeper A4.5 to A6.

    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
    • This is my opinion as well. I would love to see the LPGA take the lead on this.    This.
    • I agree in general. The one way in which the viewer will notice the pace of play is just that "it's been an hour and Nelly Korda or Scottie Scheffler have only played four holes." Or if for some reason they show a lot of shots of players just standing around when they could be showing golf shots. But I think Andy Johnson said it most recently/best, playing fast is a skill, too. I would love for pro golfers to play faster. You'd see the players you want to see hit more shots in the same time than they do now. So I don't disagree with the pace of play stuff, and hope they can find ways to do it. Heck, the LPGA should leap at the chance to differentiate itself in this way, IMO. So: I stand by what I said in that the TV viewer really doesn't notice much about pace of play. It's rare when they do. I support increasing the pace of play wholeheartedly. But my top five reasons don't include TV ratings or viewership.
