I don’t have a video of my swing but one problem I’ve been having lately is I feel like I’m throwing my wrists at the ball almost like I’m casting a fishing rod. My club is coming into contact toe first as opposed to flat and everything I’m hitting is severely on the toe of the club. With this everything I hit is WELL left because the club face is so closed at impact along with coming through toe first. Anyone have any drills to help correct this issue?

Thanks!!

Thomas

I'll tell you what the experts on this site will say, start a Member's Swing Thread.    It's difficult to help you when we are going on your perception of the problem.   You'll hear the phrase on the site, "Feel ain't real".   With video, there is definite conclusion.   Don't worry about being judged or that somebody will say something negative about your swing.   The site, I'm sure as you've seen, is very helpful, especially with Member's Swings.

One thing to look at is the 9 ball flights.   Is your ball starting left and curving more left or just a straight pull?   My instructor had me buy yoga blocks to put outside the ball to prevent me from swinging over the top.

Good luck in your endeavor.

From the land of perpetual cloudiness.   I'm Denny

@dennyjones is right, a video is going to give us way more input to start helping you. Any advice someone gives based on feels is most likely wrong. The amazing thing for me is how much I have learned about my swing since taking video close to 15 years ago. Really eye opening and to be honest my camera is nearest thing I have to a 15th club (my rangefinder often fights hard for that 15th spot as well). I have gotten to a point where I won’t hit balls on the range (for practice, not warming up) where I won’t have my camera with me to record to see if I am making proper progress.

If you want to be a serious golfer a camera and some sort of tripod (or camera holding apparatus) is one of the best investments you can make in your game. It is the only way to verify you are doing what you think you are.

Bonus for you, all the latest smartphones have cameras even better than the dedicated cameras I had 15 years ago. The resolution is higher, the frame rate better, we have it SOOOO much better now than we did back then. So there’s no excuse. The only investment is a camera holding apparatus and you are on your way.

you might also google "no turn - cast drill" by Monte Scheinblum (sp). He demonstrates that even though you "feel" as there is no turn, there actually is plenty and even though you are casting, the club face squares up automatically as the hands play "catch up".

    • This lead up to LIV Adelaide has the same fell as a normal Major

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
