I've decided to try a different shaft in my 915 driver. it's currently got a Diamana Redboard 50 R, and i am going to reolace it with a Graphite Design YS6 R. yeah, I know i" replacing a $300 shaft with a $60 shaft but the Diamana is a high launch shaft and the YS is a mid launch shaft. The hop is to get a little more boring trajectory and a little less spin, so maybe a little more runout if the damn fairways ever dry up. I've hit the YS shafts fro over 10 years, and currently have them in my 3 &4 wood, and have really been pounding the 3 wood lately. The replacement shaft will be pulled from a Titleist 905 T that I don't hit any more. It's already cut to length and has a new  Lamkin grip on it. just waiting on my shaft puller from GolfWorks. I'll let y'all know how it works out.

PS.  I already have  2 adaptors that i got online from a Wal mart site.  They really were shipped form Ebay or Amazon. So if this shaft doesn't wok ou, I'll still have the Diamana to fall back on.

Cool. I've done iron shaft replacements and want to do woods next. A few pictures of your process would be nice to see!

I am thinking of putting a Fujikura Speeder 661 on my Titleist driver. I have that in my 5 wood and I really like the feel. It is mid launch too. High launch shafts seem to rob distance for me. I am going to try and remove the adapter from an older shaft and see how that works instead of buying an after market one.

I like to tinker.

Fun fact if you want to tinker with your titleist woods: the adapters are interchangeable with their hybrids, however the hybrid adapters change loft in 1° increments instead of .75°

It's an old shaft but a Prolaunch Red is a lower flight lower spin shaft also

But the hybrid adapter are for a .370" shaft and the tip is wider. The driver tip is .335 and longer than the FW.

Hmmm. I may have misread something the first time I looked at it. I could’ve sworn I saw that they were interchangeable, but looking back at it that doesn’t appear to be the case. My bad.

It would have been cool though!

On my Titleist 915 Driver and FW 3 & 5 I can only use the adapters designed for the driver and FW's.
However, the FW are interchangeable.
I'll rotate them for various conditions. I have a stiff and reg. and use the stiff in the 3 wood most of the time.
When I rotate the staffs, the 3 wood with a reg shaft gives me a higher ball flight.

However, a friend gave me his Senior shaft from his driver and I rotate the reg & Senior shafts pending when I want
a boring or high shot.

Not like I interchange daily, spring (wet) to summer (dry) and fall winds are when I make adjustments.

I wish tip adapters had a NORM for all manufactures.

Update: The driver turned out good.. sorry, no pictures. it wound up  44.5 ". originally the swing weight with the heavier shaft was D6.  I  replaced the 14 g with with the original 9 g weight, and 'twoud up with about D3.5.. I hit it at the range today and was very pleased with the results. due to sky conditions, i couldn't see the ball flight very well, but the ones I did see had very good trajectory, with no ballooning. The club felt very good.

PS to Boogielicious: I like to tinker, also. Sometimes i get a strange compulsion to regrip a club, although all my clubs have new grips!😀

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
