anybody else see that phil made two 1's today????? an 11 on a par five....even pros mess up!!!! i was just shocked to see that! that is almost worse then john daly's 18 a while back because phil is supposed to be challenging tiger.....any thoughts about this??

I heard it too, but was watching the Wings loose... I also want a play by play. Did he hit one and three into the ocean and have to hit 5 off the tee or what? I think he managed to par the next hole... if I made an 11 my whole day would be screwed... I would go home and kick the dog, yell at the wife and go to bed early.

i know he hit 2 out of bounds-but even if he did so off the tee, he would be hitting 5 off the tee, with his distance and short game, his head must have been somewhere stinky.........

His tournament ended on the par-5 14th with an aggressive play, a couple of bad swings, a bad break and a very big number.

Mickelson tried to cut the corner on the 585-yard 14th by playing right of the bunker at the dogleg. From a decent lie in the rough, he decided to hit a hybrid to just short of the green, which would leave him a pitch shot with his 64-degree wedge.

But the hybrid didn't work out -- twice.

"It ended up shooting right on me and went out of bounds," Mickelson said. "And then I did it again."

He finally opted to hit 5-iron to the fairway for his sixth shot, then his wedge spun off the green, down the slope and into a muddy, sloppy lie under a tree. His eighth shot made it halfway up the hill, he chipped that on to 15 feet and two-putted for an 11.

Dude, I HATE that. If #2 or (#200 for that matter) how is it ok for some schmo to say "that's it, , , 7 is my limit" If we are talking about ready golf and keeping traffic flow, FINE, but if you are gonna shoot an 85 and then you have a bad hole EAT IT! That's golf baby. Anyway, Phil had a lot of poise about this thing after the round. Lefty posts an 11, Angel Cabrera posts a 10 after winning the U.S. Open, Tiger shoots an 80 on a Saturday at the British Open....The list goes on and on.

It just proves two things to me:

1) How quickly a hole can unravel even for the pros.
2) That said, how great these players are that you probably won't see them do this again...we hope.
