Cool. If I clean up do they have any value?

Just make sure you sell them to a pro golfer.  Amateurs are not allowed to use this grip.

Just to be clear.....there is pretty much no such thing as "collectable" golf clubs or valuable old golf clubs unless they have some specific link to a VERY famous golfer.

Old golf clubs are not in short supply.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Person. But yes @Carson Brady, very seldom are old golf clubs of any value. And with golf clubs, rare usually means nothing as well.

@GAA

I have a set of Armour 234 iron master irons exactly like yours and the 234 woods.

The shaft bands do not indicate a flex for what I can tell, they just say Macgregor Tru-Flexion. Do you have any info on this shaft, is this similar to an S flex or R?

Also, any idea what these retailed for in 1964? The clubs are beautiful to me, leather grips and all, but I was curious on retail to determine if these were considered pro level clubs or budget irons for this era.

I am excited to play these clubs and was encouraged by your post with hopes of learning more about them. Thanks much.

1970/71/72 MacGregor MT complete set 1-SW.  This is an 11 club set in nearly mint condition with clubs 1-10 iron plus a sand wedge.  Original grips.  Not really of concern whether they are worth anything, I just think they are beautiful clubs with clean and unique ferrules.

I pulled out an old set of irons I received as a gift in the early 60's from and uncle, who had lost the 8 iron. This set, minus the 8, is the MacGregor MT, Tourney Colokrom, REC M75. I was getting ready to donate to Goodwill, but wondered if someone who understands this line has a better idea for what I should do with these clubs. I also have a set, 2 - 9, of the Walter Hagen Haigs I am getting ready to part with as well.

Your thoughts?

I'm  pretty certain that is a 1974 Macgregor Tourney iron. I bought a 2-10 full set that year at the Fort Sam Houston golf course pro shop. Mine had the Propel shaft. I remember hating the irons as to me they had no feel to them. Sorry it is a very late response but just saw the post.

Hey all, new guy here. If I wanted to explore purchasing a set of vintage MacGregor irons, 1970 on back. What would you choose and why?

Are you buying these to play with, or as a collector's item?

Oh, and welcome to the forums.

The more you use them the less they are a collector's item.  As mentioned before in this thread, old golf clubs do not carry much value, unless the were used by someone famous, verified.

I just purchased a set of 1958 MacGregor Tommy Armour SS2 copper plated irons. Hopefully I’ll have them Saturday for the driving range. My reasoning for these vintage irons is to feel what golfers felt many years ago. My Sim Max OS Irons are very forgiving. I want something different to work with. David

That will be fun.  Don't forget the metal spikes.  J/K.  Let us know how it goes.  I have a wood-headed McGregor driver passed on by my dad that I take to the range every once in a while.

Both

Depending on your height, they will likely need to be lengthened and regripped to play decent for you. Depending on how old you go, the irons were significantly shorter (about 1 inch). I like the shape of the Macgregor Colokrom's. They are reasonably priced. Great look and good solid strike feel. These sets were made in the early 50's and remade in the early 80s.If your looking for something more collector-ish I may recommend a set of Byron Nelson Tourneys or Tommy Armour .
