Hell, once I was told by a local muni that I wouldn't even get a cart to myself when I walked on as a single! That's right, not only was I required to join another group (perfectly fine, no issues with that), but I had to share a cart with some complete stranger.

In my league nights you can't have more than two carts per group. If your partner showed up in a separate cart then you must switch to the one your partner has or vice versa.

I don't find this as out of the ordinary. I get the point. If people start complaining that they want a cart just for themselves then it will be crazy.

What if the course has like 5 carts down for maintenance. You take a cart as a single and then 3 hours later, you are halfway through the back nine and they run out of carts because they let you and 5 other people take a cart out as a single?

You may see a lot of carts at this moment, but they might not be enough 3 hours later.

This is where the OP went wrong, ........ should have called the day of to make sure before heading over.

I have never seen a twosome or threesome actually be given the option to decline a pairing, short of some super high end courses (Pelican Hill, etc.).

Hell, once I was told by a local muni that I wouldn't even get a cart to myself when I walked on as a single!

My experience is the same. But there are exceptions.

Even lower end courses I see people trying to decline someone into their 2 or 3 some.  I don't get how they even think they have the option to.

As for a cart - I always expect to have to ride with a 'new friend for the round'.  no biggie.

Huh.

If 4 singles are all paired together, would you expect to be provided with 4 individual carts?

Even at my private club, the expectation is generally that golfers will share carts.  That reduces wear and tear on both the carts, and the course...

Each situation is unique.   I normally would not have any problem riding in a cart with another single.    In fact, I'd welcome it most cases but I've been paired with that "one guy" type and actually quit a round.    I won't golf with a whiny, loud, poor is me, obnoxious person.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
