  1. This weekend, we are having a tournament between 24 of the best golfers available at our club. We have two captains who each pick a team of 12 golfers, who will play against each other in the same Ryder Cup format. We each pay $250 in which we receive 3 team shirts, cart fees, and a Thursday night kick-off party. The winning team gets their money back, not to mention any other bets made throughout the matches. It really gets your competitive and team spirit going. My question is, do any of you do this at your club? Do you do something similar?
  2. While I still find this topic to be exhausting, I must tell you KCNick that you can not have a 50+ handicap. The maximum handicap a golfer can have is 36. Work on fixing that first and then try to start a intelligent post.
  3. This thread just gave me a headache. Seriously?? All the same length??
  4. I say you play whichever ball you want. I choose to play the V1x because the V1 spins too much on approach shots for me. Dont play the V1x because you think your supposed to, play it because that ball is the best one for you. If you like the V1, stick with it.
  5. First off, throw away your 1 and 2 irons. They are very hard to hit and not very forgiving. I would go with a 3 and 4 hybrid, followed up with you 5- SW. You also might try a 5 wood instead of a 4 wood.
  6. Most effective way of cleaning a golf ball? Really?? Just spit on it and wipe it off with your towel or hand. Lets try for some more pressing issues next time

    Golfer's Elbow

When you practice, do you hit off of a mat, or grass? Whenever I have to hit off of a mat, that happens to me. Dont know why though.
  8. One thing you have to do is get cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse in order to be eligable. Then, I would say to play as many tournaments as you can over the next year and maybe send you golf resume to a couple of colleges that you are interested in playing for when you get there. ( US. Am, US Open, and other qualifiers) Dont worry about which division you play in. I went to a D-2 school and we often times beat Div-1 teams. Some Div- 3 teams beat us. Every school is different.
  9. I took about 2 holes to break mine in. None of the Adidas 360's that I have owned have ever given me blisters.
  10. I have the 3 and 4 model of the Pro series and I love them. I used to play the Hogan hybrids, but the offset led to bad shots more often than not. I get nice launch angle and the ball seems to penetrate through the wind. On approaches to greens, they tend to land very soft. 3 iron= 210 yards Hybrid 3= 215-220 yards 4 iron= 195 yards Hybrid 4= 205-210 yards
  11. I will second that. Bridget and Gisele.... He's the Golden Boy!
  12. I love the Burner TP. The Burner just looked and felt better to me than the Quad. Wouldnt go with the stock shaft though.
  13. Just about every golf shirt I wear to the course is Adidas Clima Cool. They are the greatest. I also have a few Ashworth Weather System shirts and one or 2 Nike shirts.
  14. 72 on Saturday. Par 71. Shot 39-33
  15. I think "set team" games are boring. Sure, I have those bets as well, but I like knowing that where you hit it off the tee (las vegas) or who you pick determines your teammate for the hole. It changes and you might get lucky or get screwed. Another note on "Las Vegas". The way we score teams that make birdies, is that you flip the other teams score. So if on a par 4, team one makes a 3-4 and team two makes a 4-5... teams two's score would be flipped to 5-4. Even worse would be 4-6 for a 64.
  16. Vegas- Another way of choosing teams (the way I play it) is everyone tees off. From the tee box, you take the 2 shots that are left and they are partners against the 2 guys that are right from the p.o.v. of the tee box. Im wondering why no one has come up with "Wolf". (Bare with me) On the first tee, everyone tees off. When you get to the fairway, the longest driver is #1 and the shortest #5 and so on in between. The long and short are teammates against the other 3 for the first hole. You play for $6 / $4. (Two man team plays for $6, and the three man team plays for $4 each) Ok, hole #2. The number 2 man tees off first and he is the "Wolf". He gets to choose his partner. Number 3 hits, then number 4, number 5, then number 1. The wolf has to choose his partner after he hits. Once the next person has hit(player 4), he can not go back and choose player 3. The next hole player 3 is the wolf and the order is 3,4,5,1,2 and so on until hole 16. On hole 16, whoever is down the most is the automatic wolf. He can play for as much as he is down, no more. (If he is down $65, he can play for $60 / $40.) The wolf continues on to 17 and 18 with the wolf being whoever is down the most. It can be get pretty expensive. Also, a "wolf" may go by himself for 2 to 1 odds. A player may REJECT a Wolf for 4 to 1 odds on the hole. Carry overs included.
  17. I tried both and the Burner TP was 10 times better feeling and it performed better. Now I tried it with a UST Proforce V2 shaft, but that's because I had that shaft in my last driver and knew I wanted something heavier and more stable. The golf shop I went to had the Taylor Made fitting system where they can match the Burner or SuperQuad TP heads with about 15 different shafts. Hit them both and find out for yourself which one fits your game.
  18. Well, an extra putt OR chip on 18 holes doesn't add up to 30 strokes does it? I was mainly talking about 25+ handicappers.
  19. I couldn't put it any better. Improving your short game will also help with consistency. You could be having a bad ball striking day, but if you can chip it close and knock it in... that's still par.
  20. It sounds like you are afraid of giving it a good run and the 3 putting (since most of your misses are short) I would practice a lot of 3 to 4 footers. That might give you more confidence to give the birdie putt a solid run.
  21. If your playing a 56* or especially a 60*, you dont necessarily need to open the face. There is more than enough loft for you already. Accelerate through and follow through. (dont stab at it) My sand save percentage this year is 71.2%
  22. Our Club Championship is August 9-12. Thursday we play a normal round and that is used as a qualifying round. From there, everyone is seeded 2-32 (last year's champ gets the #1 seed) and for those who dont qualify they are put into the 1st flight and have their own tournament. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are match play. I am hoping to win my 2nd Club Championship in 3 years. The competition is steep, but in match play anything can happen.
  23. I dont mind playing with cheaters because I have no problem calling them out on it. I dont mind high handicappers either and you can say that you play fast, but how can you play as fast as a low handicapper when you are hitting 20 to 30 more strokes per round?
  24. I have 2 pairs of Adidas 360's and imo they are the most comfortable shoes out there
  25. In my first few years playing golf, I never hit a driver. I could hit a 3 or 5 wood farther and with greater accuracy. Why not put up the driver for a while and add an extra wedge to help out with your short game??
