  1. It wouldn't make sense if I posted them, but they relate to the backswing, top, downswing, and impact. The book also covers details on the grip, stance, etc... You can read an abridged version of the book here: http://www.golf-swing-magic.com/index.html This guy also sells the book, or his own version of it which I don't know if I would recommend. I bought mine from Amazon for about $7
  2. I was very pleased with this book. The section on COAM was eye-opening, and the rest of the book was clearly and concisely written. Although I was initially put off by the title, my iron play has improved greatly after integrating Dante's recommendations into my swing.
  3. Most memorable shot I've ever witnessed: We're playing in a scramble, and my partner hits our 2nd shot on a long part 5. We're 280 out according to the SkyCaddie. He takes driver OFF THE DECK, sails the fairway, over the trouble, and bounces up on the green. We still only made par, but 280 off the deck with a driver was a sight to see.
  4. This thread is useless without (more) pics.
  5. No. As for excessive dirt, not officially, but some course will enact "winter rules" which basically allow you to lift, clean, and replace your ball.
  6. ++great advice. Always get a serial, and avoid any seller that won't give it to you. Even though I don't like them, PayPal gives you some protection too, so use that instead of wire transfer/money order. Also, be sure to check the feedback rating carefully of the seller you are doing business with. I will only buy from sellers with an acceptable return policy listed.
  7. Ugh... What's scary is that these clubs will be "used" soon, and flood the market with knockoffs. I don't know that all golf shops can even tell which are fakes or not.
  8. It's good to see such a wide range of ages on the forums.
  9. Does the pitching wedge count? Then I voted 3... PW, GW, & SW
  10. Every putt--like even 30, 40, or even 50 footers? Hell yeah...
  11. You are missing good options from this poll. Can someone not buy from eBay AND retail stores? I buy used gear from eBay, new stuff online at reputable places, and anything else retail locally (gloves, etc..)
  12. 2, but probably need to start looking for another pair.
  13. Is anyone else relieved that Ben-waaa is gone? Man that guy got on my last nerve.
  14. I can't carry 18 because of back problems, but I will use a pull/push cart when we walk.
  15. 3-w, 5-i, 7-i, PW, Putter Game on!
  16. I do this all the time. I can't stand a bad tee shot. Not just a miss, but a "you're totally f*&^ed" kind of tee shot. Like 1 OB and then 1 into the water. Mentally, I quit. This wasn't a problem for me when I took mulligan's. But now that everything counts, it's a lot tougher. My golf instructor also recommended the "Golf is not a game of perfect" for me. We'll see if that helps. For me, the biggest frustration comes from not know WHY I'm hitting the bad shots so that I can try to fix them on the next hole. Taking lessons has helped with this a lot, and I'm able to self-diagnose some swing faults in mid-round.
  17. I saw a guy playing in jeans and WORKBOOTS the other day at a muni. OK, so I'm sure he just got off work and wanted to grab a quick 18. To me, it just doesn't fit. I think it shows a lack of respect for the game. Long "cargo shorts" Anything camouflage pattern (yeah I know some redneck pro was wearing this a few weeks back) Tennis shoes, or other non-golf shoes Jeans & Jean shorts They should all be banned from the course.
  18. At first, I agreed with you--$.30?!?! But then, after considering that your friend just paid $4.70 for 24oz of WATER, I have second thoughts. I think your friend was probably assuming (rightfully) that a couple of waters would be $1.50 - 2.00 each. Leaving the cart girl with a just-fine tip of $1.00. $4.70 is cart path robbery.
  19. First of all, where's the poll option for "both"? Second, you gotta just love the name "creamer". I would sooooo do that. Cream-her... Lastly, seven pages on this? You guys are pervs!
  20. Yeah, I've had problems with the 9-hole scores too. For example, I can shoot a 42 on 9 holes-occasionally. But I will ALWAYS follow that up with a 59 on the back 9! :( In any case, I can't shot an 84, but the 9-hole tracking would take those low 9's and put them together like I was a much better player than I am. My index is currently a 24, and I still have trouble breaking 100... but with the 9-hole scores, it put me much lower than that.
  21. Yesterday, I played 9 holes in 1 hour (soooo awesome) and then another two for the back because it was busier. Still, a 3 hour round is great.
  22. My buddy has a SureShot, and my biggest complaint is that he never remembers to charge the batteries before he brings it out to the course! If the batteries were AAA's, it would be easy to cary some extras in my bag, but the batteries in the SureShot are not removable or replaceable.
  23. The problem is that when you're shooting so poorly (sounds like he's 125+) the game just isn't fun when you have to stick to all those rules. You guys should be grateful that he improves his lie because he sure isn't going to hit it out of THAT lie. I know when I was an absolute beginner, which I would say this guy is, you have to just worry about making contact. Forget penalty strokes, proper ball drops, or playing the ball up. I just want to hit the ball. It was only after I started to improve that I was able to play by the rules, and enjoy the game while doing so. They represented a challenge at the point, and not an impossible obstacle. FWIW we play with a guy here at work for tournaments sometimes. He's slow, tops the ball, has a wicked duck hook, etc... He won't take lessons, so it's just a matter of either putting up with it, or playing with someone else. Good luck!
  24. Christie Kerr is the reason I watch women's golf... I mean just look at this. It's just so wrong.
  25. Neat thread... I was fighting a slice too, until I started taking lessons a couple of months ago. One thing I'm noticing now is how much further a draw/hook goes than a fade/slice. I don't know why this is, do you? Also, I never understood my ballflight--the fighter jet turn--but the spin being too high to allow the ball to turn makes sense. I have a pretty high driver clubhead speed, but my swing path was classic outside in, instead of inside out.. My ball would start out nice and straight, but then suddenly around the peak of the height it would veer hard right. Nice for playing those dogleg rights, sucks for everything else.
