I think the heads themselves are worth 170 if they are in great condition. The shafts look a little different then I have seen. Normally you see the X after the project but I dont know. Its a classified so does that mean you meet the guy somewhere. If so you can at least look at them.

Tiger v. Jack v. Snead: leveling the playing field
Wallstreet replied to turtleback's topic in Tour Talk
I honestly see Tiger winning 90+ tournaments. He is only 36. I'm not saying he is Vijay, but if he continues to improve or "come back" the way he is so far, I can definitely see him breaking Snead's record and Jack's. I like the OP's argument. It definitely brings things into perspective. I wonder what each's win percentage is? I can't seem to find how many tournaments each played it. Compared to how many they won. That would be be a whole different argument I guess. But in my opinion, at the moment Jack is the best ever. Tiger has 10+ years to prove me wrong. And I think he will eventually. -
Well if you go to a golf shop and get fitted for the right driver and shaft you will gain maybe 30 yards with no changes to your swing. And that is on the high side. I would also take a few lessons to correct the slicing because that takes a ton of yards off a drive. Your height at 5'5" doesn't have much to do with how far you can drive the ball but your swing speed does. Go to a golf shop and have them fit your swing with the correct shaft. The shaft means everything when it comes to trajectory, ball spin and distance. The pro will be able to get you a custom shaft for your swing and height. But again this will only get you so far. If you really want to improve your driving distance and accuracy you will have to work on your swing.

Out of the choices available I would have to choose a high draw. It is by far the prettiest looking shot. But wheres the choice for the high straight ball? I think it works as good (if not better) than any. The straight ball is my stock shot and I love it.

Of course Phil is an obvious choice for the H.O.F. but why so early? He is still going to win tourneys, majors and is only 41. I guess it isn't a big deal but I think golfers shouldn't be inducted until the H.O.F. until they join the champions tour or later. What do you guys think?

If you do not know your swing speed then you will be best to go see a pro and have them fit you with a proper shaft for your swing speed. Like tin man said earlier, stock shafts are rarely true to their marking of stiffness. Have a pro at a golf shop or Dick's or something get you in front of a swing analyzer so he can measure your swing speed, trajectory, etc. They will fit you with the correct shaft and you should see an improvement in your driving. However the shaft probably will not help your fade.

Any suggestions with balls?
Wallstreet replied to ChrisFav's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I like Bridgestone. They feel great and don't scuff as early as other balls. -
I don't think they will drop any of the majors. And I don't think they will ever add a major. Golf has always been about tradition. The Masters is the youngest major and if that never gets dropped (which it wont) I don't see any of the older majors going.

I HATE THIS!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I have hit my ball into the rough at the top of a hill between two holes and my ball is gone because some jerk picks it up. I've actually hit the ball and watched from the tee some guy just bend over in his cart and snag it. And when I go to tell him that is my ball, he has the audacity to say "are you sure?" God that pisses me off!!!

I live in Michigan and we have a ton of nice courses. Besides up north resorts like Boyne or Treetops I haven't paid over $50 for any round these days. The amount of people golfing has declined and so has the price.

I agree with VMAN. The shaft really is the most important part of the driver. The head really doesn't matter too much these days. Most are all the same size and the torque and kick point in the shaft is what determines your trajectory and backspin. I would pick the one that you feel comfortable looking down at and have a pro fit you with a shaft that supports your swing and swing speed. It will honestly make the biggest difference in distance and trajectory. You won't be disappointed.

You really need to go to a range with multiple yardages/ greens and find out how far you hit the ball with each club. If you are hitting your 180 club 200 yards then you either have a ton of variances in your swing speeds or you don't hit the ball flush when you hit it 180. My guess is that you over swung and had flush contact which (even with the wind) added yards to your shot. That is just my guess though.

Personally if there is no danger in hitting the ball straight then there is no need to shape the ball. But there are shots that can sometimes require it. The only time I try and draw/hook or fade/slice a ball is when I am trying to go around something. If the green is straight ahead, or the fairway is straight ahead....I hit a straight shot.

How did you start playing this wonderful game?
Wallstreet replied to buckeyekid1996's topic in Golf Talk
My mother and father didn't play golf. Started playing when I was 12 when some of my friends picked up the game. Mainly played on some par 3 courses. That first year I played my first full size course and played absolutely horribly. The 18th hole was this very short par 4...like 240 or something. I hit my driver in the fairway and had a 9 iron in. Hit a pretty good shot to the right side of the green. The green sloped down to the left which is where the pin was....the ball rolled 25 feet and into the cup. Had an eagle before a birdie. And after that I fell in love with the game and have been playing ever since. -

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAHH...this thread is funny. THE HAMMMMMMMERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!! Please tell me you are joking O.P.....please. The hammer driver is a joke. If you are not joking then I will be serious. Infomercials are b.s. I wouldn't listen to 80% that they say. I don't know why it matters to you to hit it over 300 yards. But the driver doesn't mean much at all. And if it did, the "hammer" wouldn't help you at all. It's a piece of junk. If you can swing the club 115 mph and hit the sweet spot and swing on plane then you can hit it down the middle 300....if not, then worry about putting, chipping and approach shots. Because that is way more important than a 300 yard drive.... -
i guess i would say it depends on how severe the side hill lie is. The demonstration this instructor is showing is not severe at all. It is quite easy to hit a straight ball off what he is showing. There are some side hill lies that there is no way to hit straight (or very difficult).

My 9 iron is my 150 club. My longest ever was off a tee, back of my stance with a hard draw swing and hit it 180. off the ground....hitting it as hard a i can probably 170 at the max. But it is my 150 club with a full swing.

Half of the summer I have had a problem with sweeping my irons. I would hit some thin shots or hit push shots from not shifting my weight forward. The biggest thing that helped me correct that (in my mind) was to keep my head over top the ball at impact. When i did or thought that i was hitting much more down on the ball and taking bigger divots and making much better contact. The difference between the first swing and my small change was literally a club difference in distance with my irons.

Birdie Ball Or Almost Golf Ball????
Wallstreet replied to SAGolfLuvr's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
definitely chipping....all types. I like to put a 5 gallon paint bucket out there and hit varying lengths of chips and try and slam dunk in the bucket to gain chipping accuracy. -
very smooth swing for just picking the game up this summer. Keep up the good work.
