To every generation a choice such as this is posed, be it Betty or Veronica, Bailey or Jennifer, or Lana or Lois.

This prototype may come to that store near you, but don't hold your breath for that midnight opening just yet. Drool away.

You're right the new stuff is not necessarity better just better. That said, knowing what is coming down the pipe could help one negotiate a better price or await an imminent price reduction. Had I known of update for early 2008 I would not have purchased a new 5-wood in wood in October. (I saw that the Canadian price was identical to the American so I snapped it up.) It was my first golf purchase in 16 years and I was excited. Now, more informed, but addicted, it seems that I'm on a mission to replace all of my gear, from head(cover) to towel. Send money.

Better off for Callaway than something else. A little while ago, I borrowed a friend's 56° (13° bounce I recall) and found them versatile in various conditions. They are suited to someone with a good short game. Its pedigree was clearly that of RC.

Crosby had a good game last night - his first in Western Canada, in Gretz's old place, no less - and led the Penguins' comeback against the Oilers with 3 assists.

Some of it has been available for a few weeks in places where it is summer now. It never hurts to take a peek at the new gear (except perhaps one's wallet.) The FT-i Squareway Woods stand out for me, lkely because of the shape and colour. The other items in the the FT line, well, let's just say they're not the Adrianna Lima of golf clubs.

It's a rush! I like both iron sets. The MX-25 feels so soft and lovely. My distance was greater with the Callaway, but dispersion was tighter with the Mizuno. At address and overall, the MX-25 looked fine. Strangely, at address I see only the ball and not the club.

My mother's business partner. Before I started, he gave me 3 golf books and I was tested, particularly on etiquette, before being allowed to step foot on the grounds, let alone play (that came after instruction.)

My grandfather, soon to be 99, was born 4 months after the 1908 Series. That is a long time.

Blair O'Neal or Anna Rawson are two who stand apart. As far as girl-next-door cute, it's Morgan Pressel over Paula Creamer by a mile. I do not find Creamer and Gulbis attractive. The hottest professional golfer is not much of a claim. With very few exceptions, friends of mine, and many more women with whom I ride the subway, blow the doors off any golfer I've seen.

Which ball do you use? or prefer?
Hacksaw replied to Robiola the Monster's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
This year I found myself playing the Titleist DT Solo more than any other ball. -
I'm not concerned about brands. As long as the item is neat and sports no large logos, I'm game. To my eye, Pringle or Lyle & Scott look best. In 2008, I'll wear a necktie on course at least for one round. Ties rock.

With one-third of his season complete, will Tampa Bay Lightening centre Vincent Lecavalier hold-off Sidney Crosby et al. to win the Art Ross trophy in 2007-2008? The contenders: Lecavalier - 42 points in 27 games (1.56 points per game), Ilya Kovalchuk - 37 points in 26 games (1.42 ppg), Daniel Alfredsson - 37 points in 25 games (1.48 ppg), Henrik Zetterberg - 37 points in 27 games (1.37 ppg), Sidney Crosby - 37 points in 26 games (1.42 ppg).

One I like is Going Low by Patrick Cohn. It stresses the 3 C's of sport psychology, confidence, concentration and composure with emphasis on eliminating preconceived limitations. I'll have to look into Rotella's work.

Do you make swing adjustments during your round of golf?
Hacksaw replied to ks8829's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Any physical adjustments I make are of address. -
It's good tasting, especially considering that Molson-Coors makes it in Montreal.

The toughest question in golf. There is more depth in the top 50 today and Tiger is seemingly more dominant than Jack was. Just behind Jack, there were tremendous players such as Palmer, Player, Casper, Miller, Trevino and Watson. Were these players closer to Jack, then Tiger's cohorts (Els, Duvall, Singh, and Mickelson) to him because they were themselves better or because Jack was no Tiger?

I checked the Australian website (sometimes, gear is listed on sites there before North America) and there, as yet, is no 52-degree spin milled mentioned. After Orlando, we'll see more of the new equipment.

When I was iron hunting in October, I didn't find much difference in distance either. Consistency, feel and dispersion were factors I chiefly considered. The Mizuno MX-25 had the softest feel of all with the Titleist 755 right behind. I really wanted to like the TM R7 and Cobra FP, but I seemed to struggle with them. The Pings were very solid as was the Callaway X-20. I tried so many more. Hopefully, you're enjoying the process.

Preseason pick: San Diego The Patriots should win it all in February. I think that a couple of close games down the stretch will help them prepare for the playoffs. Yet they wouldn't be the first seemingly unstoppable team to lose in play-offs. The Colts or the Cowboys are eager and able to be no. 1 if the Patriots are not entirely sharp.

A very superficial thread. On looks alone, which sticks are sweetest. My vote (for now) goes to either the Titleist 695 MB or Mizuno MP-67.

Plasma TVs, or LCD is you can make a case for it over a plasma
Hacksaw replied to dbornack's topic in The Grill Room
I would take the LCD in a bright room, especially for TV or gaming. LCD is lighter, less fragile, and less power hungry than plasma. For home theatre, and perhaps fast action sports, plasma may be your choice. -
This is good to hear. I always thought that white would stand out most in the fall.

Today, the pitching wedge is a wedge in name only. The gap wedge, as we know, was born of neccessity and greed after the OEMs consented to the distance (phony) war in the 1990s. Previously, at least a few could hit a 3-iron. The 3- became a de facto 2-iron, which even He can't hit, and people struggled with the 4-iron. The 'insightful' manufacturers then launched their attack on a second front: aiding these hapless golfers with hybrids much more expensive than their old trusty irons. All pre-planned and packaged by the suits of sunny San Diego and elsewhere. Rant over.
