I live on Long Island, NY right in the middle of the hot spot. Courses are open again but it is one person per cart, however, if and when they go to sharing a cart I wont do it regardless if I know the person or not. I'll walk instead even though that means I can only play nine holes due to physical limitations. Yes I am that concerned. Maybe after a vaccine is available but that will be a long time from now.

Most courses where I play have a blue, white, gold and red tees, (red being the ladies tee). The league I am in has a rule that if you are 65 or older you hit from the gold, if you know you don't drive the ball that far you can also play the golds. Bottom line the guys and gals I play with are older and don't drive the ball that far anymore so we're happy to play the golds, makes the game more fun and gets us to the 19th quicker. But outside the league when I play I still play the golds but see many who drive the ball 200 to 210 yards playing from the whites, some even play from the blues. I just shake my head and realize it is going to be a long day.

I've thought more about you post and if you are willing to move out of the country I would recommend the southern coast of Spain, the western part by Malliga (spelling???). I've been there four times and it is beautiful. If you have never been to Spain I would highly recommend it. Crime is low outside the big cities but in the cities you just need to watch out for pick pockets.

I always use new golf balls, never even pick up a ball on the course that someone lost. However, at my age, 68 years old and retired, I don't buy expensive balls, I usually buy the Kirkland three piece balls through Costco, I like them. I have no idea what compression they are, don't know if I would even feel the difference.

Never wear jeans, always wear a collared shirt, shows respect for the game and others. I'm sorry to say that some of the courses by me do not enforce the rules.

Myself and the guys I play with are all in our late sixties or early seventies, we don't hit the ball that far anymore so we always play it forward. Even in the league I'm in if you are over 65 you play it forward. Speeds the game up and we always let better players play through if we're holding them up. It is just the right thing to do.

I don't know, I played there like a month ago and it was OK. I know they have been closed for a while, I have to talk to Bobby and see what is going on. I play there all the time given I live in Sayville.

Need Help Choosing Right Clubs
cooke119 replied to Dcante23's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree, Ping is good at fitting and building the right club for you, but see a fitter. I don't know if money is an issue for you but figure that golf clubs last years and years so look at them as a long term investment, (unless you're like a lot of us here who buy the next shiny thing that is out there just because, LOL). -
Most Forgiving Driver for a High Handicapper?
cooke119 replied to baseball28's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I agree with getting fitted and have the club built for you. But you're a high handicapper and if you are looking to buy off the rack with some changes available you might want to look at the Cobra F-Max or the F9. As you can guess I'm a Cobra fan, you get a good club for your money IMHO. -
I have been playing an old Cobra S3 3 fairway wood for years and I'm thinking of upgrading to a new F-Max 3 wood. Anybody play one, thoughts, likes, dislikes? I looking at the F-Max because I'm 68 and have had three back surgeries, so I have a moderate to slow swing speed, looking for all the help I can get. I like my S3 but time marches on and I'm kinda wondering if the upgrade is worth it. I can get one at Dicks Sporting Goods for around $165 on sale so it wont break the bank. Thanks

I'm a big Cobra driver and fairway wood fan. I'm 68 years old and have had three back surgeries so I use the Cobra F-Max for all the help I can get. But I have heard nothing but good thing about the F-8. Have you tried it on a launch monitor anywhere? What are you using now?

Yeah, I got a notice from the parks commission. Now if the weather clears up a little it will be good to go. Thanks for the post.

While never being a single digit handicapper, I do know what you mean. I'm 68, (right behind you), and have had three lower back surgeries. I use to play a hell of lot better then I can now, I lost all my distance, I now shoot in the 90's. I too love the game and will not stop playing. Through a friend I joined a league of older guys, around my age, and we play a best ball scramble, we're out there now to have fun and a little competition. There are about 50 of us in the league, maybe 40 show up ever week to play. We each kick in $10 to a pool, a little money goes to the top three groups and closest to the pin on the par threes. The balance of the money goes to a homeless shelter and a home for battered women. Makes you feel good. Like I said I'll keep playing, especially once this virus thing subsides, but play more for fun and just enjoy the companionship. The guys I play with are a pisser, one guy even smokes pot while we're playing, says it helps his game, (but of course his playing doesn't reflect that).

I'm on Long Island NY, really bad here so the wife and I are staying home. I play guitar so I get a lot of practice in, take lessons via Zoom, I also read a lot, recently about Buddhism. My wife is making masks for everyone in the family and friends. Skype with my mother's who is in nursing home, yes they have it there but so far she has been lucky however I expect that phone call any day. Haven't seen her in weeks, no visitors allowed. Other then that not much else. Oh I see it is time for a nap.

Given I'm 68 with three back surgeries probably not so good in six years, but I'll still be out there God willing.

At least for the company my daughter works for as a pharmaceutical sales rep, she knows the CEO and his wife who started the company. Their biggest expense is getting a drug to market, aside from the cost to develop the drug. As it should be the FDA requires that strict guidelines be followed.

Thought the same thing. My speed is around 85mph and I only carry 150 with a 7i, (but then again I'm a 20+ HCer so..).

I play on Long Island, NY and wind is almost always a factor but worse then that is when we get rain and there are puddles in the bunkers, they don't drain well. We all call for a free drop when the ball ends up in the water. I wonder if that is legal? But we're not playing for money so...

Most Expensive Thing You Have Broken When Practicing at Home?
cooke119 replied to FlappyGilmore's topic in Golf Talk
Chewed up my backyard lawn while chipping, wife was pissed. So much for practice in my backyard. -
Clinical trials have started this week for the treatment in America, Europe, Asia and Australia, we all hope it works, keep your fingers crossed.
