  1. Not sure why everyone is so concerned about switching? Determine the NPR and base that on standing as a lefty(# 1 below). Make a legal drop. NOW FORGET ABOUT BEING LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED as this is a new situation. Play the shot as you choose. The issue should be : #1. Is playing the original shot left-handed a reasonable situation, governed by the ability or inability to play it right-handed? If it was impractical or impossible to play it right-handed then left-handed is 'reasonable'. #2. If the cart path interferes with your left-handed stance and entitles you to relief, then take your relief. If you happen to get relief that provides you with sufficient room to play the shot right-handed, then welcome to the 'rub of the green'. They are rules - not just punishment as sometimes they actually help you.
  2. If you ever figure out how to hit it straight then please tell the world. If there is a harder shot then straight then I have yet to see it..
  3. As a kid I had this affliction. Learned to keep flex in my right knee and that seemed to stop the big sway. It is okay to load up on the right side but the killer is when you get outside of inside edge of the right foot ( hope that does not confuse you ). Hit some 7 irons with your knees knocked in ( a la Arnold Palmer putting stance). If you sway standing like that... " seek your local PGA professional...."
  4. Can't lie - I am hooked. It is fun to watch people in a high stress situation try to cope and play golf at the same time. Samantha Head is a refreshing addition... I hope she does well but her confidence seems to waver at times.
  5. Used to be a John D fan as he broke away from the California bleach blonde golf machine image that was so boring. Unfortunately, after watching his Golf Channel show and the 'wake' he leaves as he goes onward, I have lost my interest in this guy. There is a new generation of 'Players for the People' - Bubba, Holmes and company that can keep their news items to the Sports page. John needs help but apparently he is the only one that does not know this.
  6. Ecco - any model anytime... no contest. You get what you pay for.
  7. Sorry but this is the dumbest thread I have seen. Ask Jack this question and what do you think he will say? I am not 'Golf Channel' on Tiger but he is the best we will see in our time on this planet.

    Anthony Kim...

Physical skills not an issue.. the head ... hmm may need some maturity
  9. If you don't go a least once a week then good luck improving. I made a swing change two years ago and it took at least 20 sessions before I could see the difference on the course itself. I like the short game but let's face it. It is really all about watching a solid strike fly against a blue sky background and then seeing it hit the target. Add a little draw to the equation and .... "heaven"...
  10. PGA is much stronger in depth.. there are 200+ quality players. European falls off quickly after top 60. I will say this for the European Tour - it is much more entertaining to watch and the players have more 'character' to them. The PGA is such a big money machine now that the players appear to be ATMs in spikes. Snedeker, Boo, Bubba Watson and Holmes provide some entertainment but the Swedes on the Euro tour are in a class of their own for qwerky and colorful.
  11. Today 74, good putting round. Day b4 82 - played chip it back into play all day. Got to get rid of the inconsistents ... ( said that every year for 20 yrs !!)
  12. Yep, totally left handed but play right handed... only clubs available as a kid...
  13. I just got back from Myrtle Beach - 1st few rounds of the year but I went 88 then 75 the next day... Losing it for a day is easy... timing gets out of whack and you chase the ball around for a day...
  14. Colin Montgomerie- lots of Euro wins but he has nothing else to claim... majorless too.
  15. Driver - $ 250 ( Taylormade Burner ) 3 Metal - 280 ( Taylormade Burner ) 5 Metal - 250 ( Sonartec ) Irons - 600 ( Taylormade - half price deal or I would never had bought) Wedges - 240 ( Cleveland ) Putter - 50 ( Used ) bag - 100 Total- 1,770 - yikes that is a lot when you start adding up!!!!
  16. Although I do agree in that most issues are the result of ' sandbaggers ', I have to say that the handicap system can be a pain at times. I play at a club that is only 5600 yards and gets a rating of 65.2. The maintenance team protects the course with tight fairways and shaggy rough and small greens. Guys from here go to other courses with a 10 handicap and shoot 75 and everyone whines at them but at home that is normal score so this is not out of line. We have been trying to get the officials to come and redo the rating but it never seems to happen. PS - last year in a tournament we had 3 scratch players from local courses show up and play... their scores 76,78 and 80.
  17. I can put up with Miller because he does add color. The one thing that I am starting to giggle at is his diddy to do with hearing the mishits from up in the booth. I know the guy used to get into sensory stuff so he may have a keen sense around ball contact but the ' two grooves up ' line is a bit too much for me... Other then that we need for filler as Tiger lays another beating on the masses and the telecast slides into all the excitement of a curling game...
  18. Poor Tripp, He will be hung for this... I remember when the baseball player Dave Winfield accidently hit a seagull with a baseball and they roasted him for months. Tripp would do well to hide out on the Nationwide tour until the press find someone else to hang . The punishment should be decided by the person that can honestly say that they are not guilty of a dumb act. I believe that person was here and gone; they even crucified him!!
  19. My 3 iron still has the wrapper on it after 6 months!!! The course I am playing at was built by a designer that wants you to fly the ball over junk in front of the greens all the time. I bet you the players that are lucky enough to get to play links golf still love their 3 iron. I am stuck hitting a ' Bobby Jones hybrid' so high that I can't even see the darn thing until it lands. Its the curse of Jack Nicklaus... high and land soft.... when he does it looks so much nicer!!!!
  20. Question is - Torrey Pines in US Open setup conditions not US Open so the crowd, celebs pressure would not be factored in. I don't know the course well enough to know if there are sufficient layup areas for an amatuer to bunt the ball around and stay under 100. A person with a really good short game might have a chance as they could hit the wedges the right yardage to finish under the hole and stay away from the huge putting numbers that would kill most of us.
  21. I guess with the results of the Honda we can cut Ernie some slack on the ' choker' thing... I know no Tiger.. but you can only beat whoever shows up so he gets a pat on the back...
  22. I saw this one done b4... guy made a long putt and his buddy went to the hole and picked out his ball... told him he would be happy to tee up his ball for him on the next tee... schmuck did not notice the ball switch and boom..
  23. I think Freddie will be a riot as the Captain... he always finds a way to say the oddest thing so he will make the Press corps very happy. American players love him so he fits... may cost him a chance as Ryder Cup captain though..
  24. I love this question... truth is Tiger is turning all the rest into ' chokers'... he seems to bring out the worst in his competition coming down the stretch.. yes I know that there are 1 or 2 instances where another player did not fold but these are few and far between.. Ernie has had two bad finishes lately and has a history of ' head issues' so I am going to have leave it as .. Ernie is closing with his 'B' game.... he is too classy of a guy to deserve ' choker'..
  25. Tried hovering the irons back a couple of years ago and it drove me crazy. I don't mind it with the driver but can't do it with the rest...
