Golf is a means to an end for some of these guys, and legacy be damned. And that's okay. It just means that Jack's and Tiger's records will last even longer.

So here's who I'm see going to LIV next year. Some of these predictions on comments players have made in the past year or so. For example, Morikawa and Schauffele have admitted they never watched golf and know next to nothing about the history of the PGA Tour. Thus, they're prime candidates for defection, as they have no interest in creating a legacy on the PGA Tour. However, I don't see Morikawa moving to LIV for now. Anyway, here's what I predict: - Xander Schauffele (He and Patrick are attached at the hip, so if one goes, the other will follow.) - Patrick Cantlay - Cameron Young (He's a great young talent, but doesn't look golf it's fun to him.) - Adam Scott (Norman wants him real bad, and I think he'll finally accept Norman's offer.) - Corey Conners (Just a hunch, but after a disastrous President's Cup, he might take the money if offered.) There could be others, but this is a start. Dale

After watching the Presidents Cup post-round interviews, it appears that the American squad are a bunch of media dolts. Seriously. Show some emotion! Have some fun! Your golf score is not a first-world problem, and the cliches are so old by now. Rory, Justin, Kisner, Jordan, and Max are great in front of the camera, and perhaps the rest of the team needs some media training. So far, the worst interviewees are: Xander, Cameron Young, and Scheffler. Dale

Speaking of Shane Bacon, how come he's not on Golf Channel any longer? Dale

Either Harris English, or Daniel Berger. Horschel has proven his mettle in match play, so there's no argument there.

Though the odds are not in his favor, I think this is finally the year Rory comes through. The Masters is really hard to predict (Danny Willett?).

Completely agree. Horschel should have been a captain's pick last year, but the good-ol-boys club kept him out. I like Kisner, but his lack of (relative) distance negates his strength when the Ryder Cup is played at 7500+ yard courses.

Phil. By an order of magnitude. Tiger's off-the-course transgressions are found in all of professional sports, and go way back. And in no way are they right. But Phil was involved in trying to undermine the PGA Tour, and causing financial anarchy.

With respect to all Australians, they make horrible golf announcers. I generally love their accent, but for golf, it's just grating to the point of wanting to stick a pencil in my eye. Just saying.

As someone mentioned above, the Waste Management tournament has set the standard for boorish behavior. Throw alcohol into the mix, and you get what we have today. Here's an honest question though. Should the tour implement their version of baseball's 7th-inning stretch? That is no beer after the 7th inning. And I think football has banned alcohol sales after the 3rd quarter. How would the tour even implement something like this? Does it even make sense?

I say let him have at it. At his age now, he's having trouble controlling his current driver, so any additional length will be that much harder to control.

Look dude, you clearly have a problem with anyone being critical of Bryson. That's fine. These forums exist so people can have discussions and differences of opinions. If you don't like what's being said in this thread, then why read it? I don't read threads that I don't like. Back to Bryson though. He's being coddled by the PGA Tour. Plain and simple. No he's not being "bullied". Is he being heckled? You bet. But as Patrick Cantlay said, he's brought this on himself.
-
Bryson was interviewed on the Golf Channel last night and he said, "Oh, it's not about me!" Say what? The comish called out the "Brooksie" comments specifically and said they had to stop. So it sounds like Bryson is in denial about the whole thing, and as long as he surrounds himself with people that tell him what he wants to hear, then this will continue to get worse.
-
Just watched Patrick Cantlay's interview about this, and to summarize, he said that (without naming names), this is a symptom of a larger problem of those seeking attention over social media (via the Player Interaction program, or whatever it's called). His response was very measured, and well articulated. He did bring up other valid points such as Tour players are much closer to fans and there's inherent risk there, and he compared Tour players with (specifically) Yankee players playing in Boston at Fenway Park. Yes, it's difficult being on the field, but you know that you'll be back in Yankee stadium a few days later with fans that love you. Except that disrespect towards players has been going on for decades on the PGA Tour. What Bryson is going through is NOT unique.
-
If anything, the target on Bryson's back has become bigger now, and the taunting will only increase. Also, look for the commish to walk back his "policy" and say it was "misinterpreted".
-
Yeah, I know there's a Brooks/Bryson thread, but let's talk about the new "Brooksie" rule as it applies to the tour in general. I think the PGA Commissioner really spit the bit on this one. He's trying to single-handedly protect Bryson from hecklers. But what about hecklers in the past that were horrible to Monty, or Sergio? Fans can be brutal in the Ryder Cup. What happens if (hypothetically) Patrick Reed gets heckled and doesn't like it? Does he go to the commish and get help? What happens if Brooks/Bryson are playing together and Brooks' fans want to cheer him on? Do they get special exemption because they're rooting FOR Brooks? Or do they get thrown out? This new rule sets a dangerous precedent. Dale

Personally, I think Brandel went off on a tangent about Koepka and when Justin was asked his opinion, he was caught off-guard. Having said that, I do think Justin should have been more honest about Koepka's behavior, which was deplorable. I really like Koepka, but sometimes he comes across as a Neanderthal. To make a claim that someone deliberately tried to injure his knee is way out of bounds. Look at the old footage of British Open champions walking up the 18th green and they're getting mugged, quite literally.
-
Justin Leonard is doing a top notch job on the Golf Channel as an analyst. He's so much more refreshing to listen to than David Duval. His best comment after the PGA Championship: "Brooks is icing his knee, and Phil is icing his thumbs!". The thing about Duval is that prior to becoming the prime-time analyst, he was always real honest about the tour, players, and issues he had. But that changed after he became Brandel Chamblee's foil; tour pros could do no wrong. Leonard is quick-witted, and honest without being disrespectful.

So I'm fascinated with what Bryson is doing as it relates to bulking up and applying serious analytics to golf. However, let's assume that over time he ends up bludgeoning traditional golf courses to dust. What's the overall point of doing that? Of course it's a challenge to him but then what becomes the next challenge? If you listened to Bryson's pressers at the Masters, lots of young golfers are asking him for advice on bulking up and persuing more power. To what end? Is Jordan really back? He lucked out on the first round by holing out that eagle chip, but more importantly, is his game officially back? I would say not quite. He's still missing fairways and were not for his chipping and putting, he'd be out of the mix. And Rory. Man I wish he would get his head together. He's got the best swing on tour, but you'd never know it, given how he struggles at times (especially at the Masters). These guys go through swing overhauls, AFTER they've won a major championship! What the hell?

Okay, admittedly, I haven't watched much of Golf Channel in a couple of years. But what a difference! Who was the guy with Damon this weekend? He came across like a used-car salesman. I hear Feherty is gone? His show was hit/miss but was pretty good when he had a decent guest. Just rambling. Dale

Okay, I haven't watched Golf Channel's Morning Drive for about two years (or so) and watched it this morning. Wow. Where's Gary Williams? Charlie Rymer? Cara Robinson (Banks?) ? Damon Hack? Just curious. Dale

Okay, it's time to promote Justin Leonard to David Duval's seat. Duval was a scrappy player that wasn't afraid to say what was on his mind as a player, but now he refuses to criticize any player, even when justified. I get that he's the antidote to Brandel Chamblee (who I really like, but don't always agree with), but Duval is approaching Bob Rosberg hyperbole now and it's getting tiresome. Dale

I enjoy watching the LPGA on TV and had a blast following the women at the their U.S. Open here in Colorado Springs a few years ago. Most men, whether they admit it or not, have swing speeds that are in line with women than men professionals. Do I wish the U.S. players were more dominant? Of course, but right now the South Koreans are truly head and shoulders above everyone else (as a group). I'm more curious as to *why* the U.S. players are not keeping up talent-wise. Dale

But damn, he's "close". Just a few tweaks here and there.

Actually I like Buck. He has just the right amount of respect, but at the same time doesn't put golf on some sort of bullshit pedestal. Norman on the other hand sounds like a Neanderthal at this point., and is providing no additional insight. Pavin is decent and has potential, however Weiskopf has to go. He's out of touch with today's game, and like Norman, isn't providing anything of value. And I grew up watching Nicklaus, Trevino, Weiskopf, so this is hard for me to admit. Also, like someone else mentioned, the background audio is ruining the telecast. I do miss Johnny Miller and company. Dale
