    2024 Masters

Tiger actually has 25 cuts in 30 years. He has a chance to pass Jack but he will need 18 more. I hope he does it but I don’t know if his body can do it.

    2024 Masters

Yes. He has made 25 cuts in 30 Years which is incredible. I just think it is misleading for the TV announcers to say that he has made 24 consecutive Masters cuts. To me that implies that he has made the cut in each of the last 24 Masters.

    2024 Masters

It’s the Tiger stat that is contorted to me. Tiger hasn’t made the most consecutive Masters cuts (I think Nicklaus has that record). He has made 24 cuts in a row in Masters in which he completed at least two rounds. That a bit of a sensationalized TV stat.

    2024 Masters

They exaggerate it a bit. The first time I played there, I was surprised it wasn’t more dramatic because I had heard so much about it.
  5. It looked like Homa blew past Rose without acknowledging him after Rose made the putt on 18. I hope not because Homa usually seems like a decent guy.
  6. I received a letter from the Links Trust that said it would be removed and re-sodded by today
  7. Number 2 I believe but best swing in golf If only Tiger had won a few more tournaments, they could afford a second ball marker.
  8. After the fan behavior this week, I hope Wisconsin never gets another golf tournament.
  9. So once again, this weeks winner will be Charlie Darwin.
  10. Perhaps it just fits my eye and/or I have been lucky there but I have scored better on 12 than any other hole on the course. A 150 yard hole is just easier for me than a 450 par four.
  11. I don’t get it. It’s just like 17 at the TPC it should be the easiest hole on the course. I played it a couple times as a 17 handicap and I’m -1 under. Just gets in the pros heads somehow
  12. Best technique in the game. Arnold Palmer said the bets golf advice he ever got was from his father on the golf grip. The second best advice he ever got was form Tommy Bolt who told him to always throw his club down the fairway so he can pick it up on his way towards the green.
  13. Oops. Here is the back
  14. What is with the ugly matching shirts a number of the guys have been wearing Day, Finau, Fleetwood, Pieters?
  15. I believe the USGA added it to their appendix and it had been in the R&A appendix. The USGA had always dissuaded players from removing stones in the bunker whereas it was the norm outside of the US. The other difference I recall from my younger years was that the R&A allowed the use of the smaller "british ball" and the USGA did not.
  16. I just looked it up and the USGA added that local rule in 2004
  17. It has been universal for the R&A Rules since Adam was a lad but was only recently adopted as an allowable local rule by the USGA. I think that may have been the final item that made the two group's rules identical.
  18. i'm pulling for a Noren vs Thomas match.
  19. I have about 30 years with precisely the opposite experience. I play about 10 member/guest tournements per year at different clubs. 9 out of 10 will be bracket style four-ball match play and one will be a Ryder cup mixture. Most of the stroke play events I come across are one day lunch plus golf informal/fun affairs. How do you play a stroke play skins game?
  20. Interesting I have seen numerous articles that outside of the professional tour the vast majority of play in the US is still match play. Nassau, skins, better-ball etc. Match play or stable ford is probably most common outside of the US.
  21. I play often in the early morning when there is a lot of dew. If a caddie touches the line of putt (often with the end of the flag stick), it leaves a visible mark that can be used as an aim point. I assume this will not be allowed since it creates and advantage?
  22. I seem to recall Faldo saying years ago that if there were no sponsorships they all would be playing Mizuno.
  23. I have played them. Six out of 10 have public access. I am a member of two and get on one more based on reciprocity. The others took a bit of networking and schmoozing.
  24. Royal County Down -- best course The Old Course -- best town and always in awe North Berwick -- most fun Lahinch -- What Ireland is all about Augusta -- best experience, fried chicken and olives Kingsbarns -- most dramatic Fishers Island -- most scenic Ballybunion -- best craic Cypress -- best combination of scenery and shot value The Misquamicut Club -- Home
  25. The concept of ready golf is being pushed to include ignoring honors from the tee in stroke play in order to speed play if any player can hit safely. Here is what we are doing at St Andrews (Scotland): Ready Golf Over the past year or so there has been quite some discussion on this subject by the golf authorities and club golfers in general. In the past, the etiquette of golf always gave the “honour” to the player with the lowest score at one hole in medal play to tee up first at each hole once the 1st hole has been played. So now we, The St Andrews Golf Club, would like to slightly amend the way we play in stroke-play events by adopting Ready Golf. Studies have shown that an average additional time that 3 or 4 people take per hole under the etiquette system, is 100 seconds for a 3 ball and 125 seconds for a 4 ball. The problem arises from the order in which the group plays from the tee. If the “honour” is with a golfer who must wait for the group in front to clear to a safe distance before he can play, the delay is estimated to be 3 minutes at its longest. In an average round, therefore, not counting par 3s, there is a potential saving of up to 42minutes per round. If we could see even a 30 minute saving per round that would be a great benefit to us all. Some members of the Club are currently using this method, but it is not the norm. The Committee of Management is now asking members to start adopting the Ready Golf method in an effort to speed up play. If you are safely able to play when the group in front of you are out of range please do so regardless of the scoring at the previous hole. Prior to teeing off in a stroke play competition please try to make sure that the Ready Golf method is promoted. Thank you all in advance. This will not apply to Matchplay events.
