Gambling on the golf course is it a necessity?
trey3d replied to Mike Boatright's topic in Golf Talk
I mostly play money games now(2x a week), with the casual round thrown in. I shoot worse in the money games by a stroke or two atleast. Good thing the handicap for the money games are based off my scores in money games only. And different for each. 3 handicaps total. And there is side betting between players on top of the regular skins/stableford game. I tend to like having something on the line. Maybe a toe -
I want to comment on the view (background) but it all sounds wrong. Nice..

Am I heading in the right direction finding my own swing?
trey3d replied to craps's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I think to many swing thoughts is your problem. One must lose all swing thought to gain full swing control. At least with me. It's muscle memory, take your brain out of it. Think about eating French fries. Maybe a song with a good tempo for the swing. -
I use the ones like Rickk posted. I am glad to see that I was taught correctly when I first started.

I usually have an idea with casual play. With money games I play in twice a week I know. Those games get into my head. I was +8 in stableford with four holes to go, double the last 4! Because I added it up on the 15th hole. -1 3 strokes from winning still. The 15th I have birdied 2 weeks in a row for a net 2. The 18th I can drive to the fringe. Messed every pressure putt or chip after that. Wednesday I will make sure I do not pay attention to my points. Not to mention a 4 putt for double bogey on the first with my best drive ever on that hole, 50yds further than before.

Does anyone have any info or experience with these shafts. I see they came stock in the Hb3 cleveland irons. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-UST-Mayima-Action-Ultra-Lite-Iron-Shafts-370-Graphite-Stiff-Lot-of-10-/201401764325?hash=item2ee47b09e5 Seems like a great deal to try them out. Thanks Steve
-
If I knew how to use the shafts I have available 2 950 regular flex 2 950 stiff 2 1050 stiff and one regular 1050 if I could mix those within the set would be great. I was thinking 1050 stiff for my pitching and gap. 8 and 9 with 950 stiff 6 and 7 950 regular and my 5 with a nv-hl 70g regular flex
-
I really feel like a nice light high trajectory shaft in regular flex would fit me a little better. I have some ns pros in 900 and 1030 regular and stiff flex here in some 6irons. 7 total. They feel really nice. What to do?!? Low shots under the trees with the ball towards my back foot is impossible with the club's. My forged Nike's with stiff shafts not a problem, incredible shots with those and with working the ball. Maybe I'll keep the 8-p forged Nike's 5-7 rbzs. 4h tour exotics. 3w xtd ti adams x2hot Dr.

Make sure you go before and carry Tums, that's all I got
-
How did you prepare before practice? Did you eat properly? Hydrate before and during? Any stretching? All of these will make a huge difference. Also as said here rest between each shot.
-
I hit my driver 240 -260 3w 200-240 4h 190-220 i had a 3h but the 3w took its place. A xtd ti adams with the loft adjusted to up. I never take it off the tee, I'm more consistent with the driver. Didnt even use the 3w today, but I was striping my 4h 210-220 all day on par 5s. I found the longer I hit my driver the less a wood comes into play. I used to play 3-5-7 woods and hit them great. When I started to hit my driver over 210 I lost the strikng that I had with the woods.
-
I took my 3h out to carry a 4h and 4i. I hit the 4i for low shots. I hit the 4h 190-210 3w 200-240 no need for a higher iron. Steve

I guess I can start this off with how I play. Im 30yrs young swing my driver 93mph. Just switched to a regular shaft driver and my ball flight is higher (low flight before with stiff) seems alot more controllable. Average 245-260. I was playing stiff nike forged pro tours. Swapped for tight lies in uniflex (better ball flight and alot less dispersion) came across some rbz irons, but m flex(65g graphite). Everyone tells me I swing to fast for the flex. 145-150 with 8 iron with any of the three but my ball flight is alot higher with the m flex and straighter. With the m flexes the ball stops next to the ball mark or behind it. So to the questions. Why is this? Is it correcting for a swing fault? Am I smoother on transition than I think I am? Should I re-shaft? I reshaft myself and was looking at pulls. Also my driver miss is a duck hook. Miss with irons is a pull. Havent pulled one iron in the m flex. Thanks Steve

Whats the strangest thing you have ever seen on a golf course?
trey3d replied to stealthhwk's topic in Golf Talk
I have some. First is playing Lpga had a storm move in and have a forest fire from a lightning strike 150yds away from us. Had a crow fly off with my cigs and left handed cigs from the cart. Got them back and he followed us for 2 more holes. And me winning my local money game the other week with a +3 -
I putt on average 31 putts, still score 86-92. Your putting strokes are relative to accuracy. Chipping for par or worse with a good putter is still a higher score. I need gir to score no matter how my putter is that day. I've had 38 putts and still shot 85 or 29 putts and shot a 94.

Yes I am quoting myself. I just looked back at my post and laughed. I am down to a 16 have way better contact, drives are miles ahead but I am stuck scoring mid 80s to low 90s in swings. Everything I put in here is advice I need. Now advice I can give since my last post. Make sure your driver shaft is correct! Shafts are not rated to the same spec for flexes. Even the same Manufacture has differences between flexes between shafts. Also regarding this also is "feel isn't real" and this thread http://thesandtrap.com/t/74295/putting-do-not-accelerate-through-the-ball Best thing for my putting game. down to 30-32 putts a round Use your core/hips not your arms and by that my back swing rotation barely involves my arms, they don't start it for sure. Hips start the down swing with feet "quite" We can get into swing thoughts that I am getting rid of. Trust you body ie:muscle memory to make the swing, you don't take practice scoops to your mouth 3-4 times while eating soup or cereal or line up drinks for short mouth to beer sips.(I am not saying to stop practice swings.)

I was going to suggest the Supersoft as good mid ball for your handicap. I play in money games with guys that shoot low-mid 80s with Supersofts.(I like the blue ones) I think the ball exploding off the face of the putter is not a ball problem but a stroke or accelerating through the stroke problem. http://thesandtrap.com/t/74295/putting-do-not-accelerate-through-the-ball here is a great post that will not only save you money from buying a tour ball but will lower your scores. Now onto me, i am a 16 hcp hit 250 maybe 275(2-3 a round)drives, 150 8i 31 putts after that thread golfer. (Really, that thread shaved 6 strokes for me the next round) I have been playing Srixon q-stars 2015 version and find it way straighter on drives than Prov1's. What has been said about unpredictability around greens with a high spin ball is true for me. I gamed Prov1's yesterday and had sand shots spinning sideways, short chips stopping on the mark when I thought it was going to roll out, also had the "this is going to stop dead attack the pin" shot and it would roll out 15ft. With a mid ball like a Supersoft and Q-star they almost always react within feet from the landing. The tour ball is great if your drives and wood shots are straight, but any hint of a slice or hook and you are penalized alot more.

The lie won't change but your setup will. That will change where the lie should be, talking from experience as it did for me.

I recently bought a set of used forged Adams from golfsmith, and the salesman had them bent for me for free. Just a thought. I wouldn't buy a set offline if you have never swung them.

My best friend and I are playing LPGA international, on the 5th hole a cold wind comes thru and there is black clouds over head. Happened in an instance. Lightning starts striking close, so we start to head in as fast as we can. The girls that are training were still playing for another 10 mins. Crazy. We are far from the pro shop and lightning is everywhere. We have 1 hit maybe 100 yards away on hole 7. Did I mention the cart had a low tire. We make it to the snack bar at hole nine. We look back it started a forest fire. Course closed. Got to play both courses that day.

Awesome idea. Mine currently is Victoria hills and champions gate.

As a hacker I can tell the difference from a prov1 to let's say a dt solo. I can't bring my self to buy them new as where the dt solos are 20$. I did just find 10 new prov1 yesterday at the course. It's good for a couple putts using the pro v1 when it sits with no roll out as the harder balls like to roll out 10ft further for me. Bridgestone e series is a close second. Im a hacker and have nike forged blades. You should hear the comments when people see them in my bag. Until I drop it from 160 within a couple feet. Then 2 putt. Lol

Work on wet bunkers. Atleast here in Florida it's almost always hard pan 3-4 inches under. Practice if they have a practice bunker. It will give you a better idea. Every course seems to be different.
