I agree with many others, "it wasn't the weed", you just didn't have a stellar golf day. THC, the active ingredant in weed lasts 4-8 hrs depending on the strength of the weed. Heck, in my younger and wilder days at Snowbird & Alta we used to smoke big fatties and go ski runs that where to fall was to die. I've played golf with guys that smoked all round and shot in the low 80's to mid 70's.

I think the V-rev grooves are from last year and non conforming, but I'm not positive on that.

Lightweight carry bags - Ping 4 Under vs SM Three 5
Blades4me replied to Chicago Lefty's topic in Golf Talk
I went from my Sun Mtn. 3.5 lite to the swiftX by Sun Mtn. and couldn't be happier. It was 99 bux b/c they were on close out. Its got a bigger diameter so I can use my other set of clubs that have mid sized grips w/o any problems. -
I found a brand new Niki cavity back 2i at Golfsmith last week for 75 bux! So I got it and all I can say is "wow". If the other cavity backs are as easy to hit as the 2i then I think Niki really has something. If I were to go to all Niki irons I'd keep the 2i cavity back, 3 & 4 irons would be split cavity back and mb's 5-pw. Nikies almost feel as good as my beloved Mizuno's.

I smoke cigars when I golf, subsequently I also expectorate. I will not expectorate on the green, apron or in the tee box. Everywhere else if fair game. If someone doesn't like it, don't watch. I do agree with hock'n up thick, green luggies; if you have to do that then leave it in the bushes.

Jcard71 Yes, I agree, it is happening more and more. Hell those ppl can't even pronounce "etiquette" let alone spell it or tell you the meaning of it. Seems we have turned into a society of Whiskey Tango's.

IMO, wearing baseball caps backwards just shows immaturity, but not worth going off like that, and I'm guessing here, that the guy who wrote that was just a angry old white man. Seems like there are a plethora of them now, lol. (Yup pretty American, being more concerned with how the package is wrapped rather than whats in it). The ones that really get me are the ones who wear their baseball caps sideways, now that is just stupid, which of course is just my opinion. At this point in Mr. Fowlers golfing career, I consider him as a breath of fresh air.

If you do loan your friend money, have him sign a note for the loan with how much monthly payments are and what will happen if he fails to pay on time or defers on the loan. On a liter note, "If you loan someone twenty dollars and you never see them again, then it was a good investment".

LOL, when I read that it reminded me of when I was in the service over seas, but they would say, "love you,,,, no sh*t Joe" In Viet nam, if you were a American your name was "Joe", lol; oh what memories.

Get a lesson or a set of 3 lessons. Lessons ARE NOT overrated. If you don't have the fundamentals down you will ingrain bad swing habits which will be even more difficult to get rid of; (and bad swing habits in golf are very, very easy to fall into). A good PGA teacher is well worth it. Find a teacher you can relate to. I doubt your buddies know enough about the golf swing to be of much help; well unless of course they are a PGA teacher.

Most combo set spit at the 8i, some at the 7i. The reason for this b/c the more lofted a club the more forgiving it is. So, by the time you are up to the 8i and up you should be able to hit them in a mb w/o a whole lot of difficulty. When you are putting a combo set together the most important thing is that the lofts are sequencial or you will be left with distance gaps between irons.

I don't believe Mr Woods will come back to anywhere close to where he was before reality set in. I think he will win again, and still mite have a shot at Jack's record, but its not going to be easy. Judging on how Mr Woods has done at the Desert Classic so far, I don't see any greatness, just a jounyman PGA golfer.

The 3W is to difficult for even lowcappers ;-)
Blades4me replied to Gerald's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Before I was able to hit my 3 wood well I played a 14* Nicket. After awhile I got used to going after the ball. Then I wasn't happy with the distance the 14* rescue club generated. I put the 3 wood back in the bag and haven't looked back. What I found out, well for me at least, was that fairway woods don't like a wussy swing; you gotta go at it. -
I just consider that as part of the game. IMO, poor greens are much more offensive. When I skiied I learned to ski the conditions, not the conditions I wanted. This in turn made me a much better skiier.

High spin wedges worth it......
Blades4me replied to idiotsoup's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
IMO a 17 hc'er can't spin a wedge regardless of how radical the grooves are b/c they don't know how to hit down on the ball. I say this cuz every 15 or greater hc'er I've seen is a poor ball striker and doesn 't know how to hit down on the ball. -
The best brand for Irons?
Blades4me replied to ronaldkuntoro's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
LOL, best brand of iron is the one you like the most. Pretty subjective IMO. -
You can make a combo set with most any top OEM. Just make sure the lofts stay in sequence. Personally I like blades down to my long irons, (2,3,4) then cb's.

What ronaldkuntoro said.

Shaft flexs are not the same between companies. IOW, a stiff flex in Graphalloy isn't the same flex as a stiff shaft by Adilah for example. The best way I know of finding out what shaft works best for your swing is to log some launch monitor time with a knowledgable tech. As I have posted many times before, "what works great for your buddy isn't necessarily what will work best for you". A companies suggested flex table(s) are okay, but there is more to it. Going off of a companies table is okay and will work, but if you really want to dial it in, get on a launch monitor with a knowledgable tech. My ss is 105-110 mph with a very smooth transition and I play a PX 6.0 and am very happy with it. However I also like the Proto and Voo Doo shafts in a stiff flex. If you are like me, which is, if I can feel a shaft kick I can play it. That doesn't mean I like it, but I can play it. I can play shafts that are too stiff, but I can't feel where the head is so I'm guess'n, which makes the shaft a little difficult to play for me.

How beneficial would a rangefinder be?
Blades4me replied to westcyderydin's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I prefer range finders over GPS units. I have a Bushnell metalist and it works great. However some of the down falls are, if I'm not really right on with it I'll get readings from stuff in back of what I'm shooting; this happens most when shooting a pin. So if I don't think the yardage is right I re shoot. After a year and a half of using it I had a pretty good idea of what the yardage was by eye balling, also the 150 yd marker can be a very good reference. If that doesn't work then I look for something like a tree or edge of a bunker, something that will bounce back and use that to check the questionable distance I got to the pin. They also lose some or all accuracy with rain or heavy fog. Even with a range finder you should know the distances of all of your clubs as this makes the selection much easier. The range finder should only confirm your distance estimation. Easy for me to say since I've had my range finder for 3 years now. -
I believe that Vokeys go through a different casting process than other brands. Having hit both Vokeys & Edilons that were both shafted with 5.5 rifle spinner shafts and both cast heads there was diffenitely a differnce in feel between the 2. The Vokeys felt more solid, that isn't to say that the Edilons were inferior, just a different feel. I prefer a forged club. I now play Nike Vr wedges that are forged with 5.5 spinner wedge shafts and they feel different from the Vokeys or Edilons and I like the feel better, but thats just me. Again, that isn't to say Vokeys or Edilons are inferior b/c they are not, just a different feel. IMO the one of the best feelings in golf is a pured long iron.

making your own combo sets - what's the downside
Blades4me replied to ronbo25's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a combo set of MP 60's & 32's and really like them and I do notice a little differnce in feel between the 60's & 32's, but its not a big deal to me. As stated earlier in this thread, make sure the lofts are in the correct sequence. As for blades in the short irons, well if you can't hit a 8i mb then golf isn't for you. I say this b/c the more loft a club has the more forgiving it is and conversly the less the loft the more unforgiving the club is. Also most amatures are unable to hit anything below a 5i and that is 1 of the reasons hybrids have become so popular. You will notice that companies that sell combo sets will split at the 7i or the 8i. Some OEM's have combo sets, like the MacGregor 1025 V-foils. If you can hit the 62's good then the 68's shouldn't be that big of a stretch. Personally I now prefer my long irons, which for me are my 2,3 & 4 irons to be cb's cuz I am more consistent with them and can get a little more length out of them; but will put the mb's back in the bag when I'm play'n well cuz I think they are fun to play. Some ppl will put 3 different models in a set; I prefer to do just 2 modles, but that is just me. After you get the fundamentals down this sport becomes much more mental. As for resale it depends on the brand. If they are any of the big brands you won't have a problem selling them. Your Mizuno's shouldn't be a problem to sell. If they are KZG, for example, they will be less in cost than the name brands, just as good or sometimes better quality, but the resale valve is poor b/c they aren't name brand and thats all. Hope this helps some.
