Does this look like a shank to you?
Smidd4 replied to nevets88's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
No way. I had the shanks for a month and I can say will 100% certainty that is not one. -
Going to be in Seattle for the next two weekends and really want to play some golf. Any TST members in the Seattle area? I am open to playing anywhere in the area. If you'd like to play please let me know.

Have you met someone who uses 7 &/or 9 woods?
Smidd4 replied to freshmanUTA's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I was in a tournament with a random old guy last year. We were struggling a bit and he had a 120 yard shot to the green and he pulled a wood out. I thought to myself what the hell is this guy doing? He then proceeded to knock it on and left an easy 5 footer which we made. After his shot I said "Pete, that was an awesome shot but what the hell did you just hit?" Turned out to be a 9 wood. I'd never seen one before. He said he liked it because he could get it up in the air. -

I am going to be in Seattle the first week of February for a class and I absolutely must play a round while over there. Do any of you live in the Seattle area and if so have any interest in joining for a round at Chambers Bay on February 6th?

I post online normally and am very curious as to what is stopping people from doing so still. Has anybody tried it? I would but in Washington we are in the offseason from being allowed to post.

Anybody else notice they don't fix divots? I played there a few months back and the carts didn't even have sand. I thought and still do think that is weird.

I will be sure to do that.

As I just went through this same perdiciment this year, I can tell you what I did. I played a lot of solo rounds. After about a month I started asking to be paired up with people and I didn't care how good they were. I was terrible but really enjoyed playing more than I cared that I looked like a jackass so I just kept at it. I personally am really good with people and always have been so I found it easy to keep meeting people. I also learned that most of the golfers don't mind playing with someone of lesser skill so long as they are good company. So my advice to you is just keep showing up and join men's league if it's available and your network will grow before you know it. Before long you will have more games available to you than you know what to do with. I attribute my eventual friendship with several low single players to helping me drop from a 24 to 12.7 last year.

Book showed up today and I cannot put it down. I'm stoked to gain some golfing wisdom.

Two things that are undeniably awesome in life are travel and golf. I've traveled plenty during my life so far and this last year enjoyed my first full season of golf. I was fortunate enough to score two free tickets anywhere Alaska Airlines flys, so a buddy and I went to Palm Springs for a weekend. It was such an awesome trip that immediately after it was over I was thinking about the next one. We are going to keep it in state this year and just head over to Seattle for a long weekend of awesomeness. Where is your next trip going to take you?

I got the same as you have. How is the stopping power on full shots with the 54? -

Nice. I ordered mine today and am really excited to get them. Too bad there is about two feet of snow on the ground. Boo! -
Thank you sir, I am super excited. After they show up everything in the bag will be less than a year old.

G30 driver and mx-25 irons. However, today my order was placed for some new g-30 irons and glide wedges. I like the mizunos but they are old, and I rented some g-20s in maui and loved them. During my fitting I really enjoyed the new irons so I am super stoked.

Why can't I see these reviews? -
I strongly suggest the Nickalaus course at the PGA west complex and Indian Wells players course. There are incredible and you will not be disappointed.

Curious on your thoughts here. My home course has signs saying "You are responsible for damage caused by your shot". I am just as guilty as the next guy when it comes to hitting and errant shot from time to time (some rounds more often than not) and if I hit a house I always go over and check for damage to make sure I don't owe anyone a new window. I was at PGA West this spring and we got paired up with two nice gentlemen who live on the course. My buddy proceeded to slice a drive and hit something that I can only assume was a window and it sure sounded like it broke. We started to go over there and our partners stopped us and told us that we are not responsible for anything that may have been broken, it goes with the territory of living on a golf course. Is this typical practice that you have all seen? Who is really liable for the damage? Homeowner? Course? Us?

Non golf specific rangefinder?
Smidd4 replied to Will82's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
You're in a tough spot. Your friend is obviously cooler than my friends. Were you counting on a gift from your friend? I would keep it and get your gift cards and buy the one you want. They don't have to know anything about it. My buddy bought a cheap one from Walmart and it was pretty accurate from about 150 in. Beyond that, my bushnell dominated his.
