  1. Since the pandemic, the amount of people playing golf (at least around here) has exploded. If you want an early tee time on weekends, good luck. You have to be fast with your computer to snag one. Most early tee times for weekends are gone within an hour of opening up the sign-up period. Some courses are actually started charging premium green fees during peak hours. They call it "dynamic pricing" that suppose to give discounts for low demand tee times and charge extra for high demand tee times. So for, I have not seen any discounts only higher fees.
  2. Reaching ‘Herd Immunity’ Is Unlikely in the U.S., Experts Now Believe - The New York Times Widely circulating coronavirus variants and persistent hesitancy about vaccines will keep the goal out of reach. The virus is here to stay, but... Well, this is not good. Seems part of the problem is people not getting vaccinated.
  3. Had my first Pfizer (asked for J&J, but it got switched to Pfizer due to problems with J&J) on 4/10. Had my second this Saturday 5/1. Both just a little sore arm, but nothing else. Hoping that is all.
  4. Saturday: 78 - 72.1/135 6808 yds (Colorado National GC, Eerie CO) Sunday: 81 - 71.3/132 6718 yds (Mariana Butte GC in Loveland, CO) My swing seems to be coming into form.
  5. That's not good odds. I would not risk even a quarter with that odds. Too bad he had to learn the hard way. You see many people regretting not following CDC guidelines after they get really sick. It's shame.
  6. As @nevets88 posted, the settings for clinical trials are way different for J&J and Pfizer/Moderna. You cannot compare the results as it is like comparing apples to oranges. I actually wanted J&J because it was tested when variants were running wild and because of one-and-done, but they stopped using J&J a couple of days before my scheduled shot and they changed mine to Pfizer. I will take whatever is available, but I specifically signed up for J&J
  7. Ditto. I won't dine indoors but will take any outdoor patio table.
  8. Here is a reminder why you still need to practice CDC guidelines even if you are fully vaccinated... So far, 5,800 fully vaccinated people have caught Covid anyway, CDC says About 5,800 people out of tens of millions who have been vaccinated against coronavirus have become infected anyway, the CDC tells CNN. Granted that's a minute fraction of the people who have been fully vaccinated. If not for you, but for other people who have not yet been fully vaccinated, people should pay attention to CDC guidelines.
  9. Winter just won't go away! Snowing today and expected snow all night. I guess my Saturday morning tee time is a waste.
  10. What possesses someone that old to fight like that? I thought people got mellower as they age - you know like old grandpa just sits on his rocking chair watching the world go by...

I picked a wrong Japanese name...
  12. That's a misleading headline. A person not vaccinated does not suddenly develop immunity. Your immunity remains the same. Herd immunity simply means the rate of transmission is significantly decreased due to a break in transmission from person-to-person. Sort of like a having a circuit breaker. But individual's actual immunity remains the same.

  14. I always wear long pants. It is cooler than shorts as it keeps the direct sun off the skin. Here in the mile high city, the sun is intense. Long pants and UV sleeves. Only place I wear sunscreen is my face.
  15. Ditto for me. That's why I always wear UV sleeves so I don't have to put sunscreen on my arms. Although, I do have to put sunscreen on my face even with a hat.
  16. Do COVID vaccines work against new coronavirus variants? | Miami Herald It's like comparing apples to oranges. As the video post by @The Flush states, the vaccine trials were conducted at different times. Pfizer and Moderna's vaccine efficacy is NOT 95% and 94%, respectively, relative to these new variants. In fact, it is closer to J&J's efficacy rate when it comes to new variants.
  17. It will be a while before I can get back on the course again. Winter Storm Xylia, a Potentially Historic Blizzard in the Rockies and High Plains, Hits This Weekend | The Weather Channel - Articles from The Weather Channel | weather.com In parts of the High Plains, this could be an historic snowstorm. Here's our latest forecast. - Articles from The Weather Channel | weather.com
  18. LOL. Probably except I hate the humidity during the summers there.
  19. Ugh. Just in time for my weekend tee time and they are predicting ... SNOW! I am getting sick and tired of being snowed out on the weekends for golf. This is the 4th weekend out of last 5 weekends that courses have been closed due to snow.
  20. AFAIK, they are the same virus. When you are young it causes Chicken Pox. It then resurfaces when you are older as Shingles.
  21. for the same reason we are here talking about it. Thinking it will matter.
  22. Given what is in the press regarding his injuries, I seriously doubt he will ever compete in the PGA again. But then again, Hogan did after his accident.
  23. I hope so. Last three weekends have been snowed out. Getting tired of snowing on Wednesdays just in time to ruin my weekend tee times.
  24. As long as it meets the course's requirement, it does not matter how one dresses for golf. I got too much other crap to worry about than how others dress on a golf course.
  25. I've trying to watch this tournament on CBSSports.com but they kept saying they are having technical difficulties. Stupid CBS! Get your act together!
