I hit a perfect iron shot with my AP2s and heard the "wizzz"
Knockglock replied to Motley01's topic in Golf Talk
Dang, I don't think i've ever heard my balls whizz out, and I've spent a lot of time practicing my irons. Maybe my swing speed isn't nearly high enough to hear the whizz, but I'm not sure, I was making great contact today and sending my 8-iron about 150 and 7-iron about 160 yards out (definitely much longer than my average, just had a good range session i guess) and I don't think I heard any whizz. Or maybe I just need to listener closer, i'm usually much more focused on feel. -
Scotty Cameron--Sightline or no Sightline?
Knockglock replied to rtbuckshot's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I personally like the sightline on my Scotty. Tells me right where the sweet spot is and I want to contact the ball right on the sightline. -
Balls vs. brains???
Knockglock replied to Where's the Cart Girl?'s topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I agree 100% with you. Golf is a game of confidence. If your so unconfident in your shot that your replacing a ball, that's not good for your head game in my opinion! However, if you just plunked one in the water, I don't really see the harm in grabbing a cheaper ball, it's not going to affect your head anymore than you just sending one for a swim. But at least on your first shot don't start undermining your game. -
Curing a Slice/Learning to Swing From the Inside
Knockglock replied to Knockglock's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Thanks everyone for the help, especially that Ben Hogan video, that seems pretty good. So just to update on the situation. Went to the range today for about 3 hours, hit around 375 balls or so, and I was able to get some draws. The majority of my hits were still fades, but I was able to get some to draw. All my draws though for the most part started out straight and drew to the right of my target line, I thought draws were supposed to start out to the left of the target line and draw towards it (lefty golfer). But I feel that my overall ballstriking improved a bit, and also it seems to add some distance, I was hitting my 8-iron 140-150 yards easily during one stretch before I got a little bit tired, and my 7-iron was hitting around 155-160 ish. Just eyeballing on both. So I think i've taken a step in the right direction. My divots are still bothering me a little bit, a lot of them were angled to the right, which I think indicates that i'm still coming out-to-in, a few were angled left, and a bunch were relatively straight. Only thing was I wasn't able to keep my divots consistent so. Anyways, any more help is sincerely appreciated. I will try and get some video up sometime, but the camera I was going to use is missing the charger cable so I got to go buy a new one. -
Astigmatism and Reading Greens

Walk the putts on or near your intended line. See if that helps? -
So what are the best courses on California's central coast? especially in San Luis Obispo county! Thanks!

I like this book a lot. It goes very in-depth, but it explains it in a bit easiest way with more illustrations than Ben Hogan's book!

Ha, someone beat me to it! Definitely my favorite golf nickname is "The Boss of the Moss" !! Worst nickname is probably "the big wiesy" (i'm hoping still that its a joke or it doesn't stick)

So this is my major problem. And i'd like to get some good suggestions/tips/fundamentals. I'm using my left shoulder (i'm a lefty, it's my back shoulder) on the downswing, and I think that its causing me to come over the top and have a slice. On my short irons I usually hit a soft little fade that doesn't have too much right to left (slicing movement) on it. On my mid irons (5 iron), I have more of a fade, but not too bad where i'm slicing it out of bounds or anything. But on my long irons, hybrids, and woods I often have a bad slice, which is worst of course on my driver. I also hook my driver randomly driving to not slice the ball. I'm also going to try and bring a video camera to the range tomorrow, can anyone give me a quick lesson on what to look for on the tape when i'm swinging incorrectly from over the top and also when i'm swinging correctly from the inside. I'm already taking lessons, but he is telling me to just keep my left shoulder back and i'm having trouble making myself do it. Can anyone share what helped them learn to come from the inside and quit coming over the top? Thank you!

I am still having problems with this. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm thinking about finding someone to use the butt end of a club to make sure that my left shoulder doesn't push the ball and also to help me learn what this feels like and how to swing without doing it. I think that this is causing me to come over the top a bit and slicing! Thanks!

How to get a Scotty Cameron golf bag?
Knockglock replied to ScottL's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
You make it to the PGA tour :P -
What does everyone think about these wedges? Personally I feel like they're a bit underrated. I love my 56* SW and 60* LW Callaway X-Forged wedges, and I think that they compare favorably with my friend's Cleveland wedges. I don't know if its just the marketing but I like the "mack daddy" grooves. So what does everyone think about these wedges?

Golf logix on blackberry?
Knockglock replied to kleraudio's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I tried both golflogix and greenfinder and I would have to say greenfinder is better. It doesn't have all of the cool features that golflogix has, but it doesn't drain my battery as fast and it updates faster. -
What's the closest call you've had on a golf course?
Knockglock replied to blue3715's topic in Golf Talk
Today I drove into a ball it was pretty funny. I was driving on the right side of the hole in the rough heading back to the middle of the fairway and I heard fore but kept driving since I figured that was smartest and I drove right into it and it hit the front of the cart. Then after I hit my ball I turned around and saw there was another ball behind me. No fore on the second one and no apology at all! -
my scotty doesn't have the paint and just has the metal. Ill work on posting a pic later

Thoughts on putter grip for my Scotty?
Knockglock replied to Zeph's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
It cost me $20 to buy a Scotty red baby t grip for my studio stainless ('04 one) newport 2.5 (it had a ping grip on it before) and I can safely say it was just about the best $20 i've ever spent. Put a 2" extension in it too and it just looks and feels great all around now! I feel like I rescued my Scotty from its previous owner lol. It looks 10 times nicer now :) -
Picked up a dozen today because I wanted to try them and, and I was very pleasantly surprised by how good these balls are! Had excellent feel and spin, and I feel like I could compress them nicely. I don't like to buy expensive balls so I couldn't beat the price at $18 a dozen. I think that I might have to make these my usual ball and start getting used to them. Are there any other balls in the price range worth looking at or should I make Topflite gamers my gamers? What do you guys think about them?

Thoughts on putter grip for my Scotty?
Knockglock replied to Zeph's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Definitely agree. The baby t feels awesome in my opinion. -
I was like the exact opposite yesterday. My irons were pretty good. Got 5 GIRs with 2 more on the fringe or just off of it. Playing again today. Thinking I'm just gonna choke up a little bit and try and not slice. Good luck with your irons as well. Maybe consider getting a 5 or 6 hybrid so you don't have to worry about your 5 iron.

Great beginner set in my opinion. I picked up the 3 (19*) and 4 (22*) A3os hybrids to help me get some consistency from my "long irons"
