  1. @iacas - my "exactly" comment was in response to the bold. You don't agree? It's just my opinion that too many golfers are getting wrapped up in equipment and not enough in lessons, improving their game, etc. ------ As far as the rest of your points: I can't find anything I disagree with.
  2. Exactly
  3. I was there Saturday. A great tournament, indeed. I followed Langer, Couples, & Montgomery around for a few holes each. Very cool to watch these guys so closely. I'm nowhere near a rules expert, but here's an example of Bubba Watson doing something very similar. As @iacas said, apparently it's no penalty if all the ball does is oscillate.
  4. This?
  5. Wilson Staff Triton My experience in the states has been this.... W/S performs on par with TaylorMade, Titleist, Ping, Callaway -and- it's a better price.
  6. Just curious.... Does anyone know if there any other players who did just qualify for East Lake to meet the minimum requirement? Maybe somebody already answered this, but does this happen often?
  7. My guess is that Jordan will peform well. He'll have a quite a bit of time to work through some things -and- even if he shows up in his current form, he's still good enough to compete, like you said.
  8. I was thinking, "Interesting, I wonder if these are fakes." Then you said this ^^^^^^^. No question about it, bud. These are probably counterfeit. But if you play well with them, who cares?
  9. It's pretty heavy, yeah. Definitely a lot heavier than your Anser, I'm sure. For me, I feel like I have more control of the putter head when I can feel the weight of it. Maybe it's all in my head. As far as feedback - It's great. Love the feel of the ball off the face. It's solid.
  10. I have an old-school Ping Anser 2 that I plan to clean up and re-grip. It should be a great back-up putter. I would LOVE to get my hands on a newer model one of these days.
  11. It's funny - a lot of the marketing fluff initially seemed to talk about the 'feel' of many of these inserts. To me - it seems to be the opposite. The inserts definitely provide less feel and feedback. Now, the inserts are meant to help the ball rolling sooner? or something along those lines. I have an Odyssey #1 and TaylorMade Ghost Blade Putters and I'm the same way. I just can't get a feel with the inserts. No good for me. ---- If you're going to buy an after-market headcover, I recommend a magnetic closure -not- velcro. Just my preference. ---- Best of luck with your new putter!
  12. I'm sure it does sound and feel great. I love the feel of my W/S 8885 and have tested and been eyeing some Cleveland putters as well for the same reason. There are options out there other than pricey Scotty's for people who prefer a putter without an insert.
  13. #6 seems very questionable to me... Sure, if you're in a competition I suppose. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE I've ever played with talks to my ball in a positive manner. "Go, go, go" - "BITE" and everything else. I think it's good manners. It means they are paying attention and pulling for me. I always try to reciprocate it back to them. Just seems friendly to me.
  14. I'm just under 5'9" and I use a 43 inch driver as well. It's given me much more control. I trimmed my shaft as well but did not add any more weight to the head. Maybe I should?
  15. Yes - you shouldn't have any trouble getting a typical blade style headcover to fit this putter. All of the putters I am familiar with of this shape/profile (Odyssey #9, W/S Infinite Grant Park, etc.) come with a traditional blade headcover anyway. I love that style of putter and I think Cleveland putters are very underrated. $25 is a steal. Great Find!
  16. ... must be the shaft.
  17. I mean, if 'Vertical Groove' wants to send an endorsement deal my way, I'll listen. 😏
  18. Yes. You're right.
  19. Good 'ole Joe Dan Speef, da best pudder der eva was!
  20. Sure. This is valid and I actually agree with it. I'm sure you are correct that when you get to a point where your swing is proper and consistent, the ball-striking often times follows suit. I don't deny that at all. It's like anything else. Basketball players who master their jump shot form and funamentals will most likely shoot a better percentage. Gotcha.
  21. I must be missing the point then.
  22. Hmmmmm.... It's a byproduct, I suppose Well yeah... That's the irony of golf isn't it? We could all hit the ball much straighter if we would settle on lesser distances. But we have this inner struggle to smash it. Isn't that why so many lessons begin with chipping and pitch shots and then work their way back? But I understand your point.
  23. Really? I think that is exactly what he is saying in this video. That it depends heavily on the individual. If I remember right, he makes a point (more than once) that they may be self-correcting and doing other things to get some of the results they are getting. Maybe I need to go back and re-watch it. The point isn't that shaft flex doesn't matter - The point is that it isn't necessarily all it's worked up to be and doesn't necessarily matter. But it's all about the individual. At least, that's what I get from it. Exactly. I agree. The higher your swing speed the more all of that stuff matters. But for the average golfer, I don't agree that it matters all that much. Fair point. I appreciate the advice.
  24. Sure, but does it really matter how I plan to play a hole if I can't execute because I don't have the fundamentals I mentioned earlier?
  25. Fair enough. I suppose I exaggerated. It just makes so much sense for me, as I continue to try to improve. I look at it like this: The following two things are the only things that are worth my time right now. 1) Proper Swing Mechanics (I have a coach I lean on for this and I obssesively record my swings for review). 2) Strike Pattern. To me, it seems like nothing else matters until I can sort these two things out. Am I off base here?
