    Chipper

I've never owned one. I usually use this method with a pitching wedge or 9/8-iron: Depending on the lie I might use a hybrid as well but it's a little harder to control distance for me.
  2. Sounds good! Good to hear on the course condition. They do a great job with the greens there.
  3. How was it looking? That's my favorite course within 20 minutes of the house and where I keep my GHIN. I'm playing The Ledges in York, ME tomorrow. Same designer as The Oaks I believe, and only 10 minutes from my house, but somehow I've never played there.
  4. Plenty of "girlies" out there who would mop the floor with you (and the rest of us) on the golf course, many who aren't in high school yet, so what's your point? Back on topic, I don't need agree with the article above either. At this point I'd rather not see Tiger play at all than see him play really poorly.
  5. Not trying to be a jerk but are we all looking at the same thing? She (Lexi) picked the ball up and immediately moved it over - it's not even like she stood up with it. When she initially puts the marker down, it is totally obscured by the ball - then when she replaces the ball a moment later you can see most of the marker. It looks like she moved it about the same amount as Chella Choi to me.
  6. Yeah, but this wasn't the ladies' league - I know to avoid that night and men's league night. They have these "work leagues" and "town leagues" pretty much every night and the tee times vary so there is no real consistency to them. I don't even think they all go off in the same block of time. They are more informal as far as I understand, as well as being open to both men and women. My main issue was she was trying to take matters into her own hands after I explained they had sent me out instead of either calling the pro shop or dealing with it. I understand people wanting to play together alone if that is a possibility with how busy the course is. In this case, I was steps away from the tee box, just having been sent that way by the starter - there was literally nowhere else I could have been going - and they drove past me to the next tee box up. And again, if I wasn't waiting on them every shot, it wouldn't have been as big a deal. I think it tends to slow things down if there are more than two tee boxes being used. I was put into a group with a twosome and another single. The other single was playing from the tips and was near scratch - speed of play was no issue for him. I played from the blues (the next set up). The twosome was a husband-wife couple and he played the next set up, then his wife played the ladies' tee in front of that. It was just too slow, so I joined the husband up at the forward tee after a few holes, even though I prefer to play the blues at that course.
  7. I went through a similar evolution. My immediate reaction was that it was BS that such a seemingly small thing could be pointed out by a viewer at home and alter the outcome of a major. When I heard all the outrage I figured it must have been very minor and I assumed that she had marked, picked up, waited for someone else to putt, then replaced in a slightly different spot. However, she picked the ball up and immediately moved it to a different spot...whether it was a brain fart or whatever, it's very obvious and I can see how they couldn't let that slide.
  8. That really sucks. It's all rain down on here on the seacoast. I'm hoping it will melt the majority of the snow that's left.
  9. Could you please explain what you mean by reversing it on the downswing? Thanks!
  10. That's interesting different courses treat working in singles so differently. With the two courses I frequent, I will call ahead just to make sure there isn't a tournament or league going on. Now and then they'll tell me they're completely slammed so I'll call the other course. Usually they just say come on down and we'll fit you in somewhere. Now that I think about it, I wonder if the person on the phone that tells me they're too busy thinks that when I say I'm a single, I'm asking if I can get out by myself. You'd think that no matter how busy, there are going to be some groups with fewer than four here and there. As to your last paragraph, it can be tricky trying to gauge the groups in front of you. A smile and wave when you get in close proximity go a long way in letting them know you're not trying to pressure them and open up communication on what they'd like to do.
  11. Well, then I guess we can agree that that type of single needs to adjust his or her attitude and behavior. I've never run into one, and hopefully I never do.
  12. Um, are you talking about my OP? Because I can assure you, I have never and would never hold up a foursome with open holes in front of me, and I don't know anyone who would. It's also not what I said, and I don't find anyone else here that did say that. When I was talking about getting hit into, there were groups in front of me and I had nowhere to go. I'm not sure what other thread you're referencing (link?). To come in to this thread and spout off about something that goes without saying as though someone is advocating it, though, is off-base. I'd suggest reading things more carefully next time.
  13. I can understand that and if the course is open, by all means, offer the single to play through. However, if the course happens to be crowded and the only thing that makes sense is to put the single in a group, they shouldn't be made to feel like garbage (not that you're suggesting that). If it's such a special occasion that you can't be bothered by an outsider, book a foursome.
  14. That's an unfortunate attitude IMO. I enjoy playing alone as a single for what it is as well, but I also like meeting new people and I'd hate to think someone was that bothered by my presence in their group. It's rare but if I get that feeling I try to find a way out of the situation - jumping ahead, skipping holes, whatever makes sense. If the single isn't a jerk, what's the problem? I've met some good golf buddies as a single. Not to mention, some people have schedules or situations that don't allow them to play with friends or during the less-crowded times all that often.
  15. Who ever said that was the situation?
  16. Just keep in mind, even though it's in the cloud it's not really a backup. All of the major Cloud services generally allow you to restore files that get deleted for one reason or another for something like 30 days. However, what happens if a file gets changed without you realizing it? I believe with OneDrive, you'd have to rely on Previous Versions with your desktop, which may or may not be turned on. Either way, it pays to make sure that your critical files are in more than one place.
  17. Thanks. I found it interesting because I've had to remind myself to "activate" my core stomach muscles at address in the past. I have a long torso which, combined with a core that is not as strong as it should be, has led to lower back issues. Sometimes my back muscles take over when they shouldn't (not just in golf). This sounded like a potential checkpoint but if it doesn't make sense I won't do it.
  18. It seems to me like the video agrees with that thread, at least as far as how your posture ends up. I think she's advocating starting out with the incorrect posture so you can move away from it into good posture. What am I missing? Just that the first part is unnecessary? Or is she not advocating enough posterior tilt?
  19. That kind of posting is going to get the thread locked. What is actually germane to our discussion is the fact that currently, while Trump won the Electoral College, Clinton is as of the this moment leading in the popular vote and may hold onto it.
  20. Have you checked what your actual distance is when doing this? I thought I found basically the same thing earlier in the season, but it turned out it was just a compensation and I was only hitting drives 215-220 with that thought. Decent shot shapes mostly, and felt fairly solid, but they weren't actually going that far. And, my miss was a hook. I got more lasting results by shallowing the club. My method was, get to the top of the backswing, let the club head drop straight down before anything else(palms get more horizontal) then swing away. This had the most immediate impact on my driver and 3 wood.
  21. I have 18 posted rounds but most of those are combined 9 hole rounds and it doesn't include my solo rounds or rounds where some knucklehead lost the scorecard on the way back to the clubhouse (I don't have a great memory for scores, especially if it was match play). I'd guess 25 total 18-hole rounds at most.
  22. Aaaand the G30 just dropped to $250...hasn't even arrived at my house yet
  23. Definitely record a video as others have suggested, but one thing that really helped me get the feel was to hit shots with just my left hand holding the club. You won't hit the ball with a lot of power obviously but it helped me focus on getting my hands ahead of the ball at impact and not letting my wrist break down. I don't think this drill could hurt, but whether or not it helps you much with this specific issue depends, of course.
  24. Is it over for NH? I thought it was, but these sites seem to offer conflicting information: Says we have until 11/14: http://www.usga.org/handicapping-articles/handicap-active-and-inactive-season-schedule-25489.html Says it ended 10/31: http://www.nhgolfassociation.org/
  25. I'm still using a 2007 White MB (I also have a Lenovo Win10 laptop and my wife has a newer MB Air for work). However, I use my phone for most web browsing stuff and email these days. I basically just use the MB for when I need the desktop version of a site or to work remotely using RDP. The lack of upgrade options or at least the option to try to future-proof from the get-go is what is most concerning to me at this point. I might just get an Air at this point, perhaps from the refurb store. No, that is actually the new (but yes, non-Touch bar) one, although, they are still selling a version of the old 13" for the time being. Why you would buy the old model I can't imagine as it only comes with 128GB of storage for $1299. It also has the older processor, TB2 ports instead of 3, etc. For $200 more you get 256GB and all the new(er) specs on the non-Touch Bar model. One tech writer said Apple told him that outright, but I suppose without confirmation from Apple it can't be confirmed.
