Option one. Would like an ace even if it’s a worm burner. Have witnessed a couple of aces so would like to be on the other end.

Since 99% of my tv watching is YouTube videos so is my golf watching. Seems to be mostly British stuff.

When I got to Florida this season (seasons instead of years since the years overlap) one of the guys asked what I had done, said I was about twenty yards longer with my driver. Said that I had a different driver which was true but looking back it’s really the shaft that’s been the difference. It’s similar in principle to the Autoflex in that it’s light weight and also light flex. Since most of my clubs are bought used I have difficulty finding senior shafts most of the time and being old and slow that’s what I need. Bought the Callaway driver, for several years I preferred Ping drivers, because they only had a couple of used drivers with senior shafts in my price range and it’s been probably the best I’ve had. Longer and very forgiving, decent distance even on my mishits and almost always in play. Keep in mind that my swing speed is probably under 70mph.

Was pleased with my round yesterday for a change. Not at the level of most on the forum so probably easier to please. My goal is generally bogey golf and with age that’s beginning to be a struggle. Started with four doubles but managed to right the ship and have my best round of the year, 88, through seventeen rounds. Realistically I won’t get any better but can be more consistent which is now my goal. Will be 80 later this year.

An ace and shooting my age are my main goals along with being able to play. Unfortunately my scores are going up faster than my age so seems to be less likely but will keep trying.

The new Callaway fast driver comes in 10.5 and 12 degree lofts with adjustable hosel, would like to have one but not at the price.

Had a bad round yesterday, can’t come up with reasons but really just played bad. Fortunately I’m old enough to just be happy to still be able to play. Never been good but some rounds are much better than others.

Unfortunately at my level of golf I have one swing for every club. If I try to change much it’s usually a disaster so just do what I can.

Something I’ve been thinking about. I watch a lot of club tests, retired and get up way too early, and there’s something I think in my opinion might be being done wrong. They might pick several drivers, could be something different, and use the same shaft so things will be equal. In my mind a shaft might be good in one club and not in another. Learned the hard way, had my best ever driver at the time, G410, and kept hearing about how great the G425 MAX was. Since I sometimes have trouble finding senior shafts we traded heads and the 410 shaft never seemed to work out in the 425 head for me. Wasn’t as straight or as long so I have moved on. Don’t think everyone was wrong about the G425, just think that combination maybe didn’t work for me.

19 in NC, 17 in Fl, 1 in six other states for a total of 42. If I didn’t miss any when I made my list. More than I would have thought.

If you’ve been playing over sixty years that means you’re not as young as you used to be, welcome to the club. Most people I play with are 70+ and we all seem to have issues. Couple of the guys have had cancer, heart issues and strokes but still doing the best they can. But not what they used to. Some are where they probably should just play nine holes because at about fifteen they are starting to struggle quite a bit. My scores are creeping up each year, don’t like it but it’s better than sitting in the recliner. Good luck.

Playing So Bad….just Want to Quit!

Playing over 50 years means that you’re not young anymore and age does make some difference. My scores are creeping up and I’m getting to the point where I’m just happy to still be able to play. We all age differently. -
In some cases we have been around long enough not to believe the people in Washington, follow the $$$.

Passport, sure happy I haven't lost anything in NY.

Have two different sets and carry the driver and maybe putter back and forth summer and winter. Most are well over ten years old and work for me. Driver is only a couple of years old, even it is new to me.

Cutting 1" off a Scotty Cameron?

Have an old SC that's apparently been cut off, shaft band says 34" but measures 33"and it feels pretty good. -
Bought a Wilson Staff Launchpad Driver

Very good. Always nice to get a club that works. -
Have You Ever Walked Off the Course During a Bad Round?
gg194 replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Golf Talk
No, not good. Can see stopping for illness, injury or really bad weather. Sports to me are about not quitting when the going gets tough, just the opposite. Habits are habits, sports or life. -
Have a guy that generally very good to play with that for a while, 3/4 years, would be walking around behind us when we would tee off. Took a while to figure out that he was looking for broken tees long enough to play with. Gave him a bag of tees and told he he was messing up my tee shots. Problem solved, he's one that's never bought a ball either but still plays very good.

What do You Think About During Your Downswing?

Try not to think about anything, the more I think the worse things seem to get. -
The Worst Person With Whom You've Ever Been Paired…
gg194 replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Golf Talk
Noticed this thread and didn't think I had played with anyone that qualified but remembered one. We were playing a scramble and I had been warned he would cheat if given a chance. 130 yard par three with 125 carry and they had all been way in the woods from 165. Didn't hit mine solid and came up short and said so. He claimed that my ball plugged and we should get a drop because they had been watering the green earlier. Since I was online but short we wouldn't let him do it because we didn't find the ball. He wasn't happy and I haven't played with him again. -
Short experiment, half a dozen times I needed a club that I didn't have with me. Put the other clubs back in the bag. Got by but thought it cost me a few strokes.

Up early and thinking, dangerous. A few of us have shooting our age as a goal and that got me to thinking about the reasons why it might be so hard. I only know one man personally that has done that I have played very much with and he didn't until he was 90. Looking at the 20/25 people that I have played the most with maybe a chance to do it, there's only a couple left that are able to play. Several have died and several are just not able physically to still play. Don't want this to seem negative because it is not intended to be but maybe harsh reality. We are playing this morning, age 75 & 87 and both appreciate that we can do it. Do have one friend that probably does shoot his age fairly regular but he is at a different level than most of us and doesn't play often with us. To sum this up, the golf may not be the hardest part.

I know that if it weren't for SGI/GI clubs I probably wouldn't be able to play. When I've tried clubs closer to players clubs it's not been a pretty picture.
