Mick lives in a big house at the bottom of the Old Course at our club. I often see him out walking a small dog and, more occasionally, on the range hitting balls. He claims to have slept with over 1,000 women, which just goes to show I guess ...

Played it. 18th hole at my former home club, which was a short par 5 with a stream crossing the fairway twice and a pond right of the green with the club house behind that. Three wood, 4 iron, wedge on the green, two putts and into the bar happy 99 percent of the time. Anyway, one day I had a 52 degree to a back pin and cold shanked it dead right to where the club captain, head pro and director of golf were having coffee on the terrace. It whistled straight over their heads, hit one of the metal balcony supports, rang it like a gong -- scaring the piss out of them -- and bounced back into the water. I had to go over and drop right in front of them, with considerable commentary obviously, and pitch back across the hazard. Got up and down at least, so I got that going for me.

Different strokes for different folks. More, generally, for some.

In my opinion, unless you are practicing with a camera for monitoring or with some kind of physical enforcement for the specific change that you are trying to make (alignment stick in the ground that you have to stay over/under, ball between the elbows, whatever you need), then you are wasting your time. Anything else is just training yourself to hit it incrementally better with the swing that you already have -- which is a game of diminishing returns for most of us. Only wish I could get back even a fraction of the time that I have wasted trying to dig it out of the dirt on my own with this feel or that feel or the next feel -- and if you put them all on video you wouldn't see a scintilla of difference. To butcher the well-known legal saying, a golfer who coaches himself has a fool for a client.

Best summer deals in Phoenix/Scottsdale?
Stretch replied to k-troop's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
We-Ko-Pa is $75 versus $230 in peak season and TPC Scottsdale has a $120 offer to play Champions in the morning and the Stadium in the afternoon, with lunch thrown in. That could be a long, sweaty day. Take beer! -
Working on changing backswing picture. Monitoring ball position (more centered), A1 to A2 (less under), thoracic extension after A2. Still need lots more of latter but progress made -- right elbow working better, left arm not so trapped across chest. Interesting how downswing pieces also start to clean up from there even with zero focus.

There has never yet been a male champion in all-comers grudge holding.

Been enjoying these guys quite a bit recently. Using the bass and a pitch shifter to axe like that is very distinctive.

Stan Utley on Adding Spin to Pitch Shots

To me, he really doesn't explain either of those shots very well and the first one he hit didn't actually check up at all either. -
Excellent Taiwanese whisky.

http://www.theonion.com/article/tiger-woods-lindsey-vonn-blame-breakup-hectic-sex--50359 Quote: JUPITER ISLAND, FL—Explaining that the pressures of their day-to-day commitments had given them no other choice but to end their three-year relationship, golf star Tiger Woods and Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn released a joint statement Wednesday blaming their breakup on their hectic sex lives. “We’ll always share mutual admiration and respect for one another, but the reality is that our individual schedules have us ****ing people in different cities around the world over 40 weeks out of the year,” the statement read, which went on to say that Woods and Vonn are each so busy running around riding rock-hard cock and deep-dicking tight, dripping-wet ***** that it is virtually impossible to devote adequate attention to their relationship. “We’ll have a couple days alone here or there, but then Lindsey will head to the airport for a three-day gang bang at a Switzerland ski resort, or Tiger will line up a few amateur fetish models in Miami and be gone for two weeks. By the time we get a few moments to ourselves, we barely have the energy to get on the sex swing together and **** all night.” The pair added that they will always cherish the memories they made while double-fisting each other in front of a group of their closest friends.

Anyone else spot the well-upholstered blonde shamelessly eye****ing Rory after his tee shot on 18?

Backswing and downswing path - should they be the same ?
Stretch replied to topgrape's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
As with most things in golf, I think you'll find that opinions vary. Also what specific path are we talking about -- the hands and butt of the club, the positions of the shaft, or the movement of the sweet spot? -
Stick with what you are doing. From personal experience, "shopping around" too much can really hurt you. There are no magical insights to suddenly transform your swing and game. Progression is bit by bit by bit, but only if you keep working on the same things . PS: Respect for the state of your hitting mat. Shows dedication!

Another Pro Who Hasn't Read the Rules (Improper Dropping Technique)

Should have been disqualified under 33-7 anyway for wearing that bloody shirt. -
Best answer to that is always: "Uh huh? Show me please."

Reading this again at the moment. Definitely the kind of book that rewards multiple revisits -- it is informationally dense and you (well, me at least) tend to unearth different nuggets of wisdom each time.

Quickie Pitching Video - Golf Pitch Shot Technique
Stretch replied to iacas's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Went to get fitted for a new sand wedge this week (at Precision Golf in Surrey, which is a great facility) and was getting nice numbers on their Trackman off a tight mat -- just under 30 degree launch on average and around 8000 rpm on 50 yard shots. Same basic technique detailed here -- my tendencies are to get the ball too far forward at setup and to suck the club head inside/under from 1 to 2, so I need to do a couple of specific things to monitor and control those. But I love practicing pitching, feel like it does good things for my full swing at the same time so it's a twofer.- 776 replies

I received an email today with the sign off: "Thank you in anticification!" Does that mean you're really, really keen? -
I have also had problems with taking too much sand in the bunkers (i.e. entry too far behind ball, too deep divots etc.) and here's how I was coached out of it. Ball position further forward (off left instep), stand taller (was "sitting down" more and more to try and shallow out approach), hinge faster on backswing and (most importantly) keep turning all the way through the shot. Feel is your left hip getting all the way around/open as quick as it possibly can from the top of the backswing -- this is what creates the fast overtaking of the clubhead that you need in the sand. If you keep your arms on the body as Mike shows above, it also creates the short arc/rapid rehinge and shallower angle of attack that will help you to get the ball coming out high and soft. If you are looking for more of an emergency band-aid kind of remedy, try making your left hand grip super strong (turn to right) and right hand grip super weak (turn to left) and hitting a few shots like that. I think you'll find that alone forces you to do a couple of things that make you less likely to completely duff it.
