Last (Golf) Thing You Bought?
Flushed replied to JYB's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Golf Hoodie. Weather getting warmer (albeit still wet!), but needed some layering pieces and this is so comfortable! -
I don't mind the spread as it is. Gotta reward those who make the cut, covers the expense of travel etc. Makes the biggest difference for those on the fringes.

Spot on - Scottie did incredibly well even with his many missed fairways, but his mentality was super impressive. Stayed in it, holed some major par putts - deserved to win.

He has the Masters and the PGA Championship for life, The Open until he's 60 (9 years) and the US Open until he's 56 (5 years). I reckon he plays those and a couple sponsor exemption events on the PGA Tour and that's that. Also think the SGL isn't dead and that he'll be on that tour within a couple years.

Played St. Andrews in 39 shots with unlimited mulligans on Tiger Woods 2004 (I think). Counting it.

The Worst Person With Whom You've Ever Been Paired…
Flushed replied to ChetlovesMer's topic in Golf Talk
Guy who consistently gave me the wrong score on certain holes. Then again, I'm sure you have all experienced this. Lucky enough not to have experienced some of the others mentioned in this thread! -
Presume OP means ''course conditions'', because that for me would be the determining factor.

Sometimes our only competition is against ourselves. The best round is always the next one!

When do people start stacking up on golf gear? Still pretty cold and wet here so don't see many getting the latest stuff yet... early March?

#46 - it's like asking if you'd prefer to be Lance Armstrong or another top cyclist... maybe not to that extreme, but you've got to have morals.

I think a lot of us over-estimate our ability and want to test ourselves by hitting off the back tees. If we end up with a good score on forward tees, is there that asterisk beside the round? I remember shooting my best round on yellows (course was red, green, yellow, white) - still haven't given myself full credit for it.

Reckon it's 8/10 as well

Buying new irons, which made me play more to justify the purchase/price.

True, maybe. But RBC asked DJ not to wear their logo when he played there a couple of years back. I think others are going to scrutinise the players as well. Then again, there's a host of sponsors probably lining up behind them.

Would love to see Rory and Morikawa attend next year. It has the making of being a Genesis-type quality event each year.

Loving the golf community's reaction to this.

Confidence is flowing now, really liking how he's catching some momentum.

If only you could hit your shots with your knees...

Making contact was a success itself.

Depends where the events are held. PGL - absolutely fine. If it's Saudi - Sponsors will start to drop them and they'll lose out on the $$ they thought was locked in.

Love the topic, tough one to deal with. I generally just walk ahead then try to take a bit more time to think about the shot, rather than over-analyse my swing. So, gives me time to be smarter about the shot I want to play.. few things go through my head - how is the ball lying, how is my stance, where is ''the miss'', where not to miss, double-check distance etc. On a nicely paced day, I'll often miss out on a few of those.

Improve my approach game from c.100 out. Way too often am very sloppy on those numbers - driving range time needs to focus on that rather than ripping more drives!
-
Very relaxed about wearing them. Always comes back to the same principal for me - as long as your golf etiquette is good (replacing divots, shouting fore and just general respect for the course and the game), then frankly, you can wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Podcast was great - pretty sick journey to have that many medical professionals fail him to a degree. Like his approach to life - hope he can come back to the tour some day!

Surely the players can't just look at the prize money and one-time joining fees. A host of sponsors won't want to get involved with them, they'll lose commercial appeal as they'll be playing a tour less viewed by fans, and overall, their sponsorship money will decrease materially.
