One worn spot on grip: normal?

All my grips have, to some degree, a wear spot precisely where my right thumb sits on the club. On my 8i the rubber is gone and now i'm onto the tape, at this one spot,  so i wondered if this is common with other guys. The rest of the grip is good, no problems.

Where does your grip wear out first?

My grip wears more in that spot also, but I'm pretty picky about the condition of my grips so they are changed long before it would be very obvious. I don't know if wear in that spot is normal or not because very few things about the way I hit a golf ball could be called normal.

Mine wears out in the heal pad, and right down the seam line of my forefinger it starts ripping slightly before I replace..

I normally replace my grips 1-2 times per year so I really don't have an issue with grips wearing. I do have an issue with some slickness in that spot from time to time. I also have a bit of an issue with my gloves blowing out on my lower left palm...

Holding the club too tight? Never seen wear like that before.....

Down to the tape? Not normal. Not common.

Aside from any other advise, change your grips long before you wear them to the tape. Even if just in one spot.
