Does anyone have a routine that they use when they are practicing thats works for them? When I go, I feel like I am warming up for a round of golf, not really practicing. I start with my LW and move up to my driver. How should I go about doing this? Should I hit a few of each club, or start with what I am struggling with, or something like that? Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

i just work on my 2 iron, if i can hit that, i can hit anything

I usually go to the range before a round and just warm up. When I golf, I record what club im having trouble with the most, then after I go to the range again and just hit that one club.

Usually I hit a couple drivers then a couple mid irons after that i go putt

But what about a day when you are NOT going to play and need to work on something? Do you just work on that club(s) or do you focus on everything during your practice session?

if the two iron is going well, then i'll turn it upside down and work on hitting it lefty and if still some balls left in my bucket, then i'll try hitting my driver off the deck

I usually start with a 56 degree wedge to get loose, then I work my way up until I get to my driver. One thing I think helps is I try to always have a target. For example, my GW always gets me to a particular "green" that is marked on the range I go to. I make it my goal to hit my shots onto that green with that wedge. For clubs that I don't have a green to hit to, I at least hit at a certain green to get my aim down. I may fall way short or go way over, but at least I work on getting on line.

I do most of my range time with the 7-iron and 8-iron, plus wedges (full and partial). Hybrids and fairway woods come out rarely on the range - maybe a few balls out of the bucket.

And I always pick a target and I never use the same (club, target) pair twice in a row!

I warm up with wedges, then I practice like I'm playing a round. I either do:

driver/wood > mid iron > wedge

or

long iron > mid iron > wedge

I do this so I get used to switching clubs frequently, instead of going wedge to iron to driver, repeat, or something of that nature which a lot of people do.

Most pros start with a lofted club and loosen up with some easy shots. It is easier to loosen up and get your timing down with some half-wedges. Then work your way up the bag. Most players seem to wrap up with a few putts if they have time.

The main thing you are doing is feeling your tempo and building confidence before you go to the first tee.

i start with the lob wedge and work up. i usually stop at the 5 iron and go to the driver. i'll also put a towel under my armpits to try and stay connected in my iron shots.

Well, before a round of golf, I will start up with my 56º wedge (sand wedge). Then I'll progress to my 8 iron, 4 iron, 3 wood and then driver. After I'm warmed up, I will try to visualize the hole that I'm going to start the round with, so I try to play the shot just like I would on the course.

When I'm working on my swing, I usually use my 5 iron or my 8 iron.
When I'm at the range I also work on my short game (not as much as I neeed ) I try to simulate the types of shots that I will have to the pin, from 60 meters and in (I think it is 85 yrds). I also work on my bunker shots, and most of the time on chipping especially when I know I can go to the putting green and chip there.

I start from the bottom and work my way up.

Start with like a GW, then 9,8,7,6,5, hit a couple fairway woods/long irons.
Hit a couple drivers, working the ball both directions.

Then (if prior to a round), simulate the first hole. Driver, iron, wedge....

Finish with a couple chips, then a few drives.

I have two different practice situations. One, I work on various drills that I have been working on with my pro. There are about six different ones and I will usually do three of them. If something isn't working I may go back to some of the other ones. For the drills I do them without a ball for about ten swings, then I do them with a ball for about ten swings, then I do full swing shots focusing on the feel from the drill. I've found the swings without the ball to be very helpful.

My other practice routine is to simply hit clubs and work on consistency using the feel the drills help me develop. I usually start with some partial wedges to loosen up, then I go either even or odd clubs starting with wedges and moving up through the driver. I have two wood sticks I lay on the ground for alignment so I don't have to keep aligning with a target from behind the ball that I use for this practice routine and the ones above for drills.

After going through the bag I then start aiming at various targets using different clubs. I might hit driver, then an iron, then a wedge, driver again, hybrid, wedge, and so forth.

After any work on the long game I always do chipping or putting practice.

I also try to hit a few specialty shots, like knockdowns, fades and draws. Just enough to get the feel of them.

In addition to hitting full shots with clubs I'll hit a few 40, 60, 100 and 120 yard shots. I like to feel I can hit a variety of distances with any club when the need arises.

I shot a personal best on a course (75) a few weeks ago and my approach on the last hole was blocked by tree limbs. I hit a low running 6 iron 115 yards, with a little cut, to give myself two putts for the 75. If I never practiced that shot I would have lacked the confidence to strike it cleanly.

If I have nothing particular to work on, I find my range time is often unproductive as my focus is not where it should be.

At the moment my swing is pretty solid and I am hitting the ball well, so I am spending about 80% of my time working on aspects of my short game.

I'm a ball beater. It's usually two buckets of balls and my routine is as follows:

For one bucket, I will go through the entire bag. I'll pick out different targets and try to shape different shots. I'll see what works and what does not. I'll try to fix what is not working. I just started to keep notes of my practice sessions. I'll write down what either felt wrong or what I was not able to do. My next session will start with these notes.

The second bucket is for a simulated round. I'll grab a course outline and "play" the course.

I'll then do some putting drills that I received from various TST members.
