Does that mean you wont be making any of the cuts on tour. If I am wrong the golf channel televises first and second round coverage. Aim higher young one. Say CBS or NBC. Come on now.

With all seriousness, Best of luck to you. I honestly hope you do make it.

Anyone else notice that GOLFSALOT00 and Left Is Right are very similar? Avatars both have leftys blasting out of the sand. Both have "Weekend Duffer" under their name. Both have about the same amount of posts. They joined a week apart from each other.

Oh, and they both type in all lower case letters too.

Coincidence?

Dude, no offence or anything, but if you are playing off 13, I doubt you will qualify for nationals.
I have seen a lot of people with good swings etc. playing off high handicaps, as it is not all that is required to play golf.
But you seem very confident to know you are going to be seen on the golf channel???

Different IP addresses, too. But I can't fault the memory or the noticing skills. :)

And though I don't wish to dash the hopes of the OP, I think the worst thing you can do at this point is get a big head. There are probably tens of thousands of golfers your age that are already better. Good luck.

you may be good golfers, although i would suggest that off 15 and 14 handicaps respectively you have a very long way to go. When i was 15 i was playing off 4, im now 26 and playing off 5!..its not until you play with people who are in the plus figures that you realise how far you have to go to reach the dream- its a reality check, and to many this rarified place of appearing on the Golf Channel is unattainable.

To get down to scratch is a lifetimes work and practise..its not like football or other sports. The fractions required for success are minute, and the difference between a 5 and a +5 handicapper is huge.

I wish you luck, but you need to be realistic. Being off 14 at 15 years of age is nothing special these days, especially with world beating aspirations.

I totally agree. Best thing this kid could get is a dose of humility. That way, he might realize how much he needs to be dedicated to get there. I was exactly the same place at his age, 14ish handicap, great golf swing, but thought I would just get better without putting in the effort. Of course that didn't really happen. Private lessons aren't the magic pill either, I had plenty of those.

The days of the Larry Nelson or Calvin Peete type person that just picks up a club and is playing on the Tour two years later are over. It's too competitive now. Golf is going through the phase now that tennis went through when I was growing up. Kids playing starting at 4 years old, everyday, and never looking back. That being said, best of luck to you young man.....But practice!!!

I'm confused . . . this says you're 13, but your public profile says you're 22 . . . my guess is the "22" in your profile is a "typo" . . .

At one point, I thought at 15 a 7.9 was special, but its not. I always wanted to have a job with golf maybe an assistant pro or something, but I'm nowhere near that now and never gonna get there.

I always thought 7.9 was good but it really isnt.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
