Ok, so saturday I played 18. I got paired with this scrub who made my round absolutley miserable. He played two balls all round on a busy saturday with people waiting. He talked during my swing. He stepped on my line repeatedly and he also asked to use my brand new driver on the first hole, saying he broke the last one over his knee. I was skeptical but said okay, thinking it would only be once, but he wanted to use it on every hole. I was going to say something after 4 times, and the 5th, he hit a bad shot and slammed it on the ground hard. After that I told him to not use it again. The club was alright, but Im never letting anyone else hit my clubs again. Luckily there was lightening on the next hole and I got away from this jerk. (and still got a refund

Wow, that fact you put up with that guy, is nuts, to be honest. I would've said, sorry, but I'm going to find a different spot on the course, or, you can go ahead of me. No way in hell I'd play with someone like that.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Got to tune those people out - and tell those people it's against the rules of golf to "borrow" clubs.

Sounds like you were playing with my wife ;)

When I was playing regularly I usually only played with a handful of friends, of course if I was in a tournament it was different. I've usually been very lucky with my playing partners when I have no control over them. When I was off 18 I was put with a 1.0 and a 2.0 handicap players, and they spent some time informally giving me some tips about my swing and such. At the turn I was only one shot behind the 1.0 handicapper on gross and ahead of the 2.0! I ended up winning the nett competition and he won the gross section!

Are you sure there wasn't a camera hidden somewhere?

Where is Ashton Kucher?

tell those people it's against the rules of golf to "borrow" clubs.

I truely believe that this happened, but God it sounds like a made up story of a worst case scenario. You need some golfing mates. I would soooo much rather play by myself.

I played with a couple once, the man a 2 or so handicap, with a swing that was so hilarious to watch, but he really cranked it, not the point though.
His wife was the most ignorant person I have ever seen. One round stands out in particular, on one hole she got mad and just dropped the club on the green walked away, which was fine, didn't play for 2 holes, then one hole she dropped a ball on the green, 5 feet in front of me directly between the hole, and putted. Everyone just looked at each other. It was just one of those moments.

What you had, wow. I would not stand that guy. One hole of asking for a club be fine, but the second hole i would have been skeptical. And slamming it? I probably would have gotten pretty aggressive with him, I really don't have a lot of patience.
Slamming your own clubs is one thing (I do once or twice a round, really trying to stop.), but some one else's is just plain wrong.

completely agree... imagine how pissed you'd be if he put a pop-up mark or dent in it. When someone asks to borrow my driver I exlplain that any unusual marks = a new club for me.

Ditto. "Hell no" is acceptable. Just plain "No" is polite.

I can't believe the audacity of him to ask a stranger on the very first hole, nonethless.

Sure, if you guys have been chatting it up for 3 or 4 holes, maybe... maybe I could see him asking to give it a swing. But, after you just met? Nope. Sorry.

Thats just incredible.

it sounds like you were on that MTV show boiling point. If someone slammed my brand new driver into the ground, I'd be pretty pissed off. Was it just you 2 or were there other people paired in the group? Someone should've said something about his 2 balls he played. Did he do some really wack sh** like hit a bad shot..drop a ball..hit it really well...then pick up his 1st bad shot...play his 2nd and then say he made par? I've seen people do that before.

Of all the clubs in my bag, I'd hate to let some random person hit my driver. I barely let my friends hit my driver. Definitely rude.

P.S.: It seems a previous reply of mine was deleted so I'll repost - how was he dressed? I'm just curious.
