I was golfing yesterday. 12th hole; tee box; par 5; driver;

Swing perfectly felt great. My driver head came flying off. I couldn't believe it. I'm so pissed right now. There were guys behind me and my friend and even they were in shock, because I didn't do anything wrong, it just flew off.

That just happened to my sister in law on the range last Saturday...but it was a five iron!

I hear this "PING" sound from behind me and she's standing there with just the graphite shaft in her hands!!

Was funny to us at least...not so much to her.

Enjoy looking for a new driver at least!!!

Happened to me at the range the other day, except with my 6iron. My friends were laughing their asses off! haha, So embaressing when I ran out onto the range looking for the head of the 6i lol.

Guess I should really take out my clubs from my trunk...

Interestingly enough, this happened to me at the range a couple weeks ago. My 3 wood that is only 4 months old. Funny part is that the head is still attached to the shaft but it's very wobbly. Looks like wires/fibres held it.

Did the graphite shaft break off at the hosel or did the epoxy fail on the shaft. If it's expoxy call Cleveland and I'm sure there will be repair or replacement immediately.

I was at the range last week on a putting green just behind the tee boxes. A kid about 14yrs old hit his driver (looked like a Taylor Made of some kind) and I saw the head come right off it. He was pretty distraught by the ordeal and went to tell his friend a few bays away.

He then got out a 3 wood of the same kind and I watched him hit that and the head came off that too! Two clubs broken in consecutive shots! I told him he should have bought a lottery ticket!! He seemed more worried by his father's reaction to the events, apparently the clubs were about a year old!

I had a Callaway Great Big Bertha break on me a few years ago, got sent the Biggest Big Bertha as a replacement.

When i first started golfing, my father in law handed me a "Callaway" Big Bertha Driver. After a couple of drive, the shaft snapped the the club head flew 130m down range. Later on he confessed that he had bought the imitaion "Call-AWAY" clubs from China....muahahaha

Was playing with my brother-in-law. He teed off on a hole and I hear this, "fwop-fwop-fwop....". The head of his driver went about 100 yards straight down the fairway (out distancing the ball).

Uh-oh.. I do this all the time. Maybe that's why 5-iron lost its head last time I played...

Or it could just be that I hit it overly fat. Frustrating either way.

I had this happen while "going for the green" a few months ago. It was shocking to feel the weight disappear while I'm still holding the grip over my shoulder.

When I was like 9 I had the Nike Birdie Blue driver and it snapped off and went farther than the ball!
