When the Nike SQ 460 driver's came out,I woke up on valentine's day that year to find a brand new Nike SQ driver gift wraped in black and yellow ribbon sitting in front of the TV, last year she not only agreed, but pretty much told me I could buy new irons,I had been talking about it for a couple of years, but she rememberd and suggested it, then she gave me $100 yesterday because I was going to a golf show, how sweet is that? now just so nobody get's any crazy ideas I do work anad make more than enough money as a production manager at a Japanese automotive facility, so I'm not a moocher.

Ha, I wish because I would hook her up with one of my friend's so we could go golf club shopping like a couple of silly ass giggly girls after some shoes.

My wife is very understanding of me playing this game. I did get all new irons last year, so they'll last me a while. But she totally understands how much I play, and practice. She knows that whatever I'm doing, I always am trying to be the best I can at it. Which is good, makes life easier you know.

What I play

My wife is cool with my golf addiction. She knows how cheap I am so there isn't much worry of me breaking the bank or anything.

Heck, at this point a set of irons would have held their value more than most stocks, right?

This would make a great poll.....who's wife is understanding when it comes to golf.

My wife is great and doesn't mind me golfing at all. I buy new equipment regularly and play nice courses. All of our vacations involve at least a round/day. She hits the spa, goes shopping and I hit the links.

For 90% of my golfing buddies, it's a different story. I feel sorry for any man who marries a controlling bit ch who says no, just to say no.

My wife is cool with it; she knows it and hockey are my two ways to 'get away' and relax. I start to get a bit grumpy when I can't get out. She's fine with me buying new equipment too.

I have a girlfriend who i am sure I am gonna marry her. Anyway, she never complain or anything about me playing golf. She knows it's what I really love to do (or maybe she knows she really can't stop me :P) Today she just told me that she bought a new pair of Nike golf shoes for me.....but that's after I told her I just bought a new pair Footjoy shoes T_T..... anyway, I told her to return it ... because it's like $140.... too expensive for me.

My wife bought me a set of Mizuno irons for my birthday last September. And so YOU know i'm no mooch either. Until she retired, i made 3 to 4 times what she made as a teacher. For almost 20 years!

But, she understands my passion for the game. She's ok with me playing. A lot!.

She likes the folks i play with. But she has ZERO interest in learning the game. I think my situation is pretty darned good.

Reminds me of the guy who plays every Saturday morning rain or shine. One particularly nasty morning, he gets up and as he is leaving the house in a downpour he decides for once the weather is just too bad. He goes back to the bedroom, slips back into bed behind his wife and says "it is really awful out there". His wife replies "I know. Can you believe that my idiot husband is out there playing golf."

My wife let me upgrade my irons a couple of weeks ago after I got fitted.

To be fair she's also an avid golfer. She's 8 1/2 months pregnant and she played 9 holes on Thursday, still scoring a respectable 51, including a birdie on the longest par 4.

    • I kind of like this interpretation especially if you think about it the unplayable rule would probably put you in a better spot.  using back on the line releief.
    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
