Have any of you had bad experiences with greenslabor?

I was having a decent round one morn then oddly a fairway mower kept following our group..without fail he kept showing up on our fairway right before we teed off..even arrived on a par 3! screwed me up bad..sure he would stop..but damn I will hit a laser .fast and low...i didnt feel right swinging..too afraid to hit the old fart....had another guy raking a GS bunker directly in front of me....btween me and pin....he thought by hiding in the bunker i wouldnt see him,...maybe at Oakmont., LOL ..I skulled it and it went right at him...thatll learn him...just bc im playing golf ...that doesnt mean im good. get out the dam way....

Uhm, how about some punctuation? You'll be taken a bit more seriously.

As to the topic I think you've tried to share, sometimes they have to do their work during the day. They can't do it all at night. They usually try to do the work early in the morning, but sometimes dew prevents certain tasks from being done then.

They will sometimes be in the way. Not every course can close for a day or two to do the maintenance. Gotta learn how to ignore them.

That being said, I have rarely come across someone mowing or watering who wasn't paying attention to the golfers. If I guy is mowing the fairway I have usually seen them finish the row and move off to the side and watch you hit so they know if the ball is coming at them. Just be courtious and wave or whistle when you need to hit and most of the time they will get out of the way and watch your ball. Unless the person is being completley oblivious after trying to get their attention, don't hit at them if they aren't watching.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

LOL...I used to mow greens and tee's but it was an top private course..so yes I would stay well out of sight and sit for 10 min. As far as punctuation and spelling.no offense but.....I save that for the important communication.

I have been part of a foursome that has hit a hard working grounds keeper. He was working on the turf around one of the par 3 greens at our course. We had whistled and such a couple of times to get his attention, but for whatever reason he didn't hear us or look up. One of the guys just went ahead and hit and unfortunately it hit him right in the spine (Now known as the infamous SPINE BALL in our group). The poor guy looked like he was in some excruciating pain; he must have been pretty tough because he shook it off and continued to work. It's funny now, but not so much at the time.

It sounds like you just had bad luck in keeping pace with the guy as he was doing his required mowing for that day. It happens. At the muni where I play a lot they try to give the greens mowers a 1/2 hour head start before they let people start playing. If your off early and play fast you can easily catch up to them, especially on the back side. Fairway mowing is done as needed and that's usually scheduled during the day, so coming across those guys is common too.

I don't try all that hard with getting every word or comma coorrect, but I at least make my posts readable. Maybe I'll skip your posts in the future and move on to more important ones that I can actually read without straining myself.

This isn't the first time I've seen one of your posts that are difficult to read... are you really that lazy, or do you simply have no respect for those who try to read your jibberish. As to the original question... they have work to do... if you hit them while they are raking a bunker (after giving them adequate oppotunity to move) then it's not your fault. I don't really care where they stand when I hit my shots so long as they don't get in the way of my ball or my line of sight, if it's important.

Just seems like trouble finds you, yet who's the only common denominator?*

ha, just yesterday i had a mower run right over my ball in the fairway and smash it into the ground. luckily only his tire ran over it and not the mower blades. so i just dug it out of the hole

Its not always like that. I rarely if ever loose my cool and throw a club...Sunday was my first time! Stress stinks, some people dont have to deal with stressful situations. I on the other hand have a stress filled business, family, and neighbors that have no respect etc... I envy those who don't get affected or have this saturate their lives. Its mostly the business, but with it comes great reward. For the most part I have only mentioned the worst situations, last sunday got me steamin. I plan on playing soon, but again, business, little league, etc. All work and no play.........Lastly, trouble does find me, its a gift.

He has a job to do, and he does it by course policy. You acting like this was some sort of vendetta against you.... well, you need to get over yourself.

The other thing you can do is offer a suggestion to the course... if they are interested in customer service then they might just listen if you make it as a suggestion instead of a whine. A question: Was it a greens mower? Or fairway/rough mower? A responsible course sends out the greens mowers at least 1/2 hour before the first golfers are allowed out. That should be more than enough for them to stay ahead of the first group. On my course the greens mowers finish on 9 and 18 at least 45 minutes before the fastest group can catch them. The fairway mowers usually work the holes in reverse order, starting on 9 and 18 and going around the course backwards. That way, a group isn't inconvenienced more than twice in a round, once on the front 9 and once on the back. If this course doesn't use these methods and then they ignore a reasonable suggestion, you can always take your money elsewhere. Coming on a website and crying about how you can't handle the interruption in your game won't solve anything.

Yep.....I've had a problem.....problem is we can't get this one guy to follow us enough!!!

Here's the situation....I'm playing with two buddies earlier this month. We're on a par 5 and one of the guys is working on the tee boxes. He stops working and watches us tee off. He's a real nice young fella who I've joked around with some before. Anyway all three of us hit very large tee balls....actually looked impressive. Young fella made a whistle and waved at us. We play out the hole and he's again on the next hole...a par 3 over waste hazard....playing 175 into a slight breeze as is typical on the hole. We speak to him again...making small talk while selecting clubs. The 3 of us each hit very, very, very, very, very perfect shots....all finishing within 5 feet of the pin...mine looked like it holed out from the tee. I've never played in a group that hit 3 such quality shots....ever. Needless to say, Cuzz was impressed. He shook his head and made some positive comments. Two days later I'm out there working on my game...and come to another par 3...a peninsula green playing 156 with a right to left wind...not too breezy. Cuzz is on the tee box working it over pretty good....taking out weeds and spreading sand/seed. He remembers me from the previous round and asked how we finished. I admitted to him that he saw the best 6 shots of the round and perhaps the best 2 that I've struck in months. He says, "Yeah, right" and grins. I pull out a 6 iron and take dead aim at the flag...figuring a bit higher finish and a slightly open stance will be the adjustments needed to hit a high cut that will fight off the wind. Let's just say it was perfect. The shot stood up and lasered it's way to 4 ft right of the stick....a beauty for sure. Cuzz laughed out loud and complimented the shot and said I'm no hacker. The next hole ...par 5....I shanked a 4 wood entirely....dumped it into a ditch right in front of me.....Cuzz was nowhere around. He needs to see these bad shots so he doesn't get the wrong idea about my talent....or lack of. We are very fortunate to have the guys that we have working at our course. They hump it year round. It never ceases to amaze me at the tasks they are doing....year round. One would think that in the winter there isn't much going on in a golf course environment.....wrong....Mr. Fumai and the course Superintendant have these guys hustling and doing things that will yeild rewards later on. You've gotta respect and enjoy folks who work hard to ensure your pleasure and relaxation. I've grateful for them.

Hey

LOL!!! I'm in hysterics here....I couldn’t have said it better....

Natural, it seems to me to need a vacation from golf. I think you've forgotten how to enjoy it. Either that or build and manage your own personal, and private course, just for you! Lighten up buddy, life is to short to whine so much about a hobby/game/passion.

The last round I played...at the muni...the mower was just moving the tee markers off of the boxes when I arrived...He pulled his mower behind the blue box...got off the mower and moved the markers...he was parked directly behind the blue tees...infront of the back (gold/tips) tees...mower running...I was playing the tips that day...Instead of making a big deal about it I just focused on the shot and pounded one right past the mower into the middle of the fairway...it's all in your head...I like this new anti-punctuation posting...not really...
