Just wondering if anyone out there uses a 13* wood. I'm in debates of changing my woods over the off season and going with all cb2 woods.
I'm currently using burner 3 and 5 woods...and after using my friend's cb2 woods a few times during the last few rounds...i'm getting a lot more pop, distance and control from his set than I do from my woods.

I have been using a 13º for a long time (10-12+ years). I got it mostly by default since it was my friends club and he didn't like it. I loved it and have never had any problems hitting it. At the time I couldn't have told you the difference between a 13º and anything else. For me it is a great club off the tee. It is almost like an easy-to-hit driver. Some say they are harder to hit off the ground but I haven't had much problem.

The only thing to worry about is the distance gap. You will probably hit it further than a 15º so you may end up with a yardage between the wood and hybrid or iron that you can't hit.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I love mine. I play a 13* Adams Speedline 3 wood. I use it from the tee, when I'm not confident with the driver. I can hit it with a slight fade to 240-250 from the tee and 220-230 from the fairway. Over 200, it's my go to club. From 195-210, I go with my cheapo 19* walwart hybrid.

I have been using one for most of the year. I think it is a good choice especially if you use it off the tee alot. I would consider how you hit your 5 wood, ie if you are going to go for the green in two. But it is a good option.

Well i got one - which i almost never use. Sure it gets a bit more distance than a regular 3wood, problem is the lower flight, and if you have shots over tall trees or have to carry greens and try to stop it, the last thing you want is a low flight with lots of roll.

I really think its course dependent.

I recently purchased a 13* cb2 and it is LONG off the tee at least 20 past my current 3 wood. It has only been a few rounds but I think I will keep it primarily for tee duty. I will also add a 4 or 5 wood to fill the distance gap between the new 3 wood and 21* hybrid.

I am in the market right now for a 13* 3 wood. My swing works well with my current three wood but all my driver shots I push or push slice. SOOOO, I don't want to change my swing which works to accomodate one club. Therefore, I am going to try to use the 13* in leu of a driver. My current three wood I hit too high, but I can hit it 240-250, so the 13* should be a good compromise. I'd rather be in the fairway anyhow.

Off the tee, I carry both a 13* and a 15* 250 yards. The difference is the 13* runs 10 yards further. This is definitely problematic when hitting a 13* off the deck because it's very hard for me to hold greens.

If you're long off the tee, I'd shy away from the 13*, since distance isn't the objective. Next season, I'm switching to a 15*. I want my 3W to land softly so I can hit more fairways and greens in firm, fast conditions.

Just be mindful if you make the switch to the 13*. Bombing your 3W 280+ yards is fun, but you have a driver for that. You need a more refined strategy on short (410 yards and less) par four's, especially with your game. You want to be more precise with the distances you leave yourself into greens.

I've got a 13* Sonartec GS-Tour. It is a beautiful thing to look at and when hit crisply the shots are long. That said, in the main I don't hit it great and I probably don't really need the extra yards it offers

I'll be returning to a 15* next season. (anyone in the UK interested in my Sonartec before it goes on ebay?)

I got one this year and love it. It's a great 3-wood. Likely the best I've ever had. I have a pretty high ball flight though so I needed something to help get the ball flight down. Easy way to do that is reduce the loft. I have no issues with controlling trajectory with it either. If you have the swingspeed for a 13' and hit it well, there isn't much of a reason not to get one. Although, there are times when the 13' is too much for me (as far as distance) so on some courses, I'll carry an 18' (5-wood) instead.

I have a 12.5* 3 metal and love it. Its very good off of the tee, but it took some practice to hit it good off of the deck.

I have a Taylor Made Diablo 13 degree. It's a love/hate relationship. I've hit some really nice shots with it. But it's not so good off the tee, and many of my fairway shots won't get off the ground. That being said, if I hit it low, I still get an acceptable result. 220 yards or so. But when it's good, it's 250 ish. I'm happy with that.

Thank you for that. and thanks everyone for your thoughts....

My current driver gives me anywhere from 250 - 310 off of the tee depending on the hole that I'm playing. My 3 wood is my go to club for 220 - 260.. (although I cranked one off the tee the other day for 285...I was surprised myself) I'll just choke up if I need the shorter distance. I've been in my lowering my score so play the safer shot..and maybe 1/2 of the tee shots lately I've been going with 3 wood... even on some par 5's I'll go 3 wood off of the tee since I can work that a little better than my driver. My 5 wood is about my 210 - 230 depending on the hole, conditions and if I really crank it. So distance wise...maybe my gaps are fine the way they are... I'm just really wanting to the a cb2 3 wood and get rid of my burner '07 15 degree... anyone want a burner 15 degree with a Accuflex proto shaft? stiff. 73 gram tipped 1"? haha

This is the answer. I have searched and read many posts but you nailed it for me. I am plenty long off the tee with driver so I don't need another club for that. I axed my last 3 wood (15.5 degree) with mid launch shaft because it sailed high and all over....both from the tee and fairway! I just got a 13* 909 F3 and it is pretty much a driver that I know won't hold greens on long par 5's.

I plan to trade in the 13* for a 15* with low launch shaft so I have a 'safer' and shorter tee option as well as a club I can get up in the air from the deck. The quest continues!

I was considering these as I evaluated the 909 series.

For me it just didn't fit. I've no problem hitting driver on tight/short holes. I can grip down and smooth out the swing. Current driver floats it out there plenty high, too.

My main need is for fairway / recovery use. The extra loft here is appreciated.

I also don't generate huge swing speeds.

Just wondering if anyone out there uses a 13* wood. ...

Big question is, can you hit it off the fairway? Also, shaft kickpoint/flexpoint would be critical here - make sure you can get the ball up enough to maximize distance.

Back about year 2000 I hit the Ping I3 strong 3W (12 degree). Was super off the tee, but I didn't have the swing to use it reliably off the fairway. This past summer, we had at least one Sand Trap discussion on strong 3Ws, but for the life of me I couldn't find it using search terms. If you have some time to hunt around, maybe you can find it.

Focus, connect and follow through!
