WOW, Wonderful photos, thank you for sharing. My golf dream is to play again in Ireland. I played Lahinch, Doonbeg, and Ballybunion many years ago as a teenager. My family had an overseas reunion with some of my Irish cousins. I have read Tom Coyne's "A Course Called Ireland" too many times to count.

kmarkham, thank you for posting these photos. I just finished reading a book named, "A Course called Ireland", by Tom Coyne, which includes many courses listed in your photo album. Coyne's book documents his journey to play every golf course along the coast of Ireland. Per the book he played over 50 courses, starting at Kilkee and ending up at Ballybunion Old. The only thing lacking in the book that there were only a few photos included that only gave glimpses of around 11 courses. With the help of your photo album I can now fill in the gaps of what many of the other courses looked like. I hope to play over in Ireland one day, definitely on my list of things to do (hopefully soon). EDIT: Wow, your photos are really amazing.

I started my book writing travels just as Tom Coyne was finishing his, and I was always being asked" "are you the guy walking around Ireland playing the links courses?" He generated a lot of interest in the national media.

I am bringing this thread back from the dead. I just spent the morning drinking coffee and exploring the courses. Thanks for putting that together!

Thanks for that Sabram - good to see your site too. There's nothing quite like getting a sneak preview of courses you're planning to visit.

The photo count is now over 3,600 with 282 courses included. That leaves me with some 66 Irish courses not on Flickr - many are from Northern Ireland (including the likes of Royal Portrush, Royal County Down and Portstewart) which a virus wiped from my desktop! Gutted.

That's a bummer. I back mine up on a second drive and copy them all on to disc as well.

I'm jealous of all the great Irish courses you've played. I hope to make my first trip to Ireland in 2013 or 14. Probably the Southwest... Ballybunion, Lahinch, Waterville, Tralee, Dooks, Old Head etc  Until then I can view the photos.

Plus, my physical therapist was Tom Coyne's physical trainer in the book. Nice guy. Hated his guts though.... he made me work so hard...

Howth is much under-rated. It's a great golf experience - and I certainly want to get back to it soon - same too for Blainroe. Did you ever try using your putter on the par three 190 yard 8th? I've seen a couple of guys reach the green.

Carton House Monty - played it myself a few weeks back - I still say the course has probably the best greens in ireland

Now that's interesting... not you hating his guts, but him being Coyne's physical trainer. He wouldn't be much of a trainer if he didn't make you work hard though, would he! Question is, has it worked?

In a word, yes. Play it around now or in the next few weeks and you'll get all the autumn/fall colours. Along with Adare, it's my favourite parkland in the country
