If I lived close to a sports book, I'd lay $100 on it right now and probably get some good odds.

He's going to go into seclusion, work his ass off, and come out wanting to rub it in the noses of all the haters that came out of the woodwork. Bank on it.

To be honest, I completely agree with you. I expect him to fully commit to his game again and have another great year in 2010.

its going to be one of two outcomes - either one of his best years ever or the worst season of his life. i dont think there will be an in between.

If the over/under was two (or one), I'd go under for a large sum. Depending on the odds, however, I might take it.

He might do, if he plays next year.I know a lot of people can't imagine him not playing next year but if things get much messier it wouldn't surprise me at all.He won't want to have to face the press for a long, long time.Question is whether he can afford to take a year away, come back and try to take up the quest for 19.

On a side note, if I was to put a bet on anyone winning majors next year, it'd be Phil Mickelson to win the Masters and the U.S. Open. Now that he's got his driving in good shape and he's putting as well as he ever has, and given the way he finished this year, I think he's a great bet. He's also statistically the best player in the Masters and U.S. Open over the last 5 years.
A great shot is when you go for it and pull it off. A smart shot is when you don't have the guts to try it. ~ Phil Mickelson.

Problem for Mickelson is that he would be betting on himself in Vegas and would put too much pressure on himself. That is probably what happened at Winged Foot.

Well, the last half year or so Mickelson was probably most relaxed guy out there with the best attitude towards the game - quite the contrary to Tiger. When Phil was happy & smiling Tiger was pretty much the contraray.

And if Mickelson can carry this attitude over into next year with his form - we wont talk Tiger much next year.

I also am putting my money on my fellow lefty phil, i think after last years performance, especially his attitude he will be someone to watch out for in 2010. As far as tiger goes, he seems to be very temperamental as of last year, who knows what he will do this year, i don’t think he even knows what he will do.

I agree that next year will be Phil's year and he deserves it.

I dont see Tiger winning any majors next year. He has too many distractions and his swing isnt the same swing as the pre knee surgery Tiger.

I think the odds of him winning all 4 are as good as him winning 0.

I think 3. I think he wins the first 3 and then fails at Whistling Straits. Tiger sucks in the wind.

Next year sets up great for him. Last time they had the us open at Pebble he narrowly won by 15 and the open at st andrews is almost an automatic win for him every 5 years it would seem. I think he played decent last time the PGA was at WS like 4th he finished maybe but dont quote me and hell always be atleast in contention at Augusta so I see him getting 2 or 3 next year.

I'd argue he has played better post knee than pre.....

"Let the sleeping dog lie" Tiger didn't have much other than history pushing him last year, zero expectations and tiger pretty much just plugged along (albeit dominated compared to everyone else). A Tiger that lead the WORLD in wins, money, and world ranking points, with something to prove, is a scary thing.

I think the odds of him winning all 4 are as good as him winning 0.

Using that logic, it's hard to see Tiger winning at Pebble or St. Andrews, either.

Tiger sucks in the wind except at pebble or st. andrews where he poop-stomps the rest of the known universe historically....

is that better?
