To the jerks in the group behind me rant.

Dear Jerks playing in the group behind us Saturday,

The course was backed up, we waved you up on the first par 3 because it's the right thing to do. You even thanked us for doing so.

You saw us waiting on several tee boxes because the groups in front of us were slow, and the course we're on is always slow.

You hit into us THREE times and never once yelled fore. Twice the ball landed within 12 feet of us.

So please explain to me if you figured you were trying to speed things up, have no concept of how far your ball goes, and/or have no concern for the safety of others.

May you hit all your tee shots OB and you four-putt for the rest of your days.

I'm sure they were jerks, but waving people up on a par 3 does what exactly? I used to play a muni that had a ranger stationed between the 3rd green (a par 3) and 4th tee (a shortish par 5). He'd make groups wave the following group up on the par 3, then hassle people on the next tee because they were waiting for the fairway to clear. Typically there'd be someone in the landing area with a very realistic chance at reaching the par 5 in two. It was only about 480 yards. I'm sure there were a few guys who wanted to bury a sand wedge into that old guy's forehead. Once you got past that bottleneck, it was smooth sailing, but getting to #5 without being angry was a challenge. endreplyrant/

After the second time my buddy would have tee'd their ball up in the fairway and fired it back at them.

i had a group that did that to me three times when i was playing with my neighbor. we told them to wait for us to get past the 290 mark the second time they did it. they hit into us on the next hole. a 390 yard par 4; we were 200 yards away and they hit drivers! this hole goes alongside a lake, so...i grabbed one ball and he grabbed another, we teed it up and hit it into the lake. they didn't do it again. they complained to the ranger, but we told him they had hit into us three times and we had told them not to do it. the ranger said, "ok, they can afford losing a ball to get some sense put in their heads.

Ohh can I add to this rant. Plot summery: My brother and I, a twosome, were playing pretty fast. 18 holes in 3 hours. Anywho the group in front of us, a foursome with a child, so I guess its a 4.5 some waved us through the 196 yard Par 3. I hit my shot and thought I had missed the green so I grabbed my 60* and my putter. Realizing my ball was on the green I put my wedge on the ground and my brother and I putted out. Here is were it gets wierd as I was walking back I didnt see my wedge I figured my bro grabbed it. On the next hole I realized I didnt have my wedge, I asked my bro he said he didnt see it and I was like aghhhh. I went back to the group behind us and they were gone with my wedge. I called the course day after day for a week and nothing. I hope the golf gods rain fire and brimestone and snowmen on that group forever.

As someone who has been hit by a golf ball, square in the middle of my back, I feel your pain. People need to realize that courses can and do get backed up, especially on weekends and especially when you are playing behind an outing or a scramble. Such was the case for me this past weekend. For me, a single warning about hitting up suffices. After that, I say it's fair game to kindly pitch their ball into the woods.

Wow. What a bunch of losers.

Why can't people just accept golf for the nice walk it is. Like hitting into a group will speed them up. Flawed logic. It's like tailgating in a traffic jam. Largely pointless.

I've been hit into exactly once. & it got me in the leg. I dropped my club & walked back down the fairway looking for the owner. I'm not a big guy, but i was pizzed. & they wanted no part of it. It was pretty funny. They didn't hit into us again. In hindsight, maybe not the most mature way to handle a situation.

That's my method of showing my disapproval for that kind of action. If I get pushed with that sort of dangerous play, they don't see that ball that landed close.... ever again. I've seen too many xrays of what a golf ball can do to a skull. I don't want that happening to my family or me.

After reading the another thread, I had an idea. You could put something nasty in the hole. You know, like a mashed banana. What did you think I meant?

i normally just keep playing. no matter how far up our butts the guys behind me are. unless they feel like playing with me and whoever im playing with... :)

I try to play through these situations, but there's almost nothing that irritates me more on a golf course. On Saturday morning on the large majority of golf courses, some waiting should be anticipated and accepted.

two kids were hitting into my friend and i all afternoon...on the last time they did it (it was their second shot on a reachable par 5, we were on the green)...they hit to the fringe literally a foot behind my playing parter. to the right of the green was a pond. i thought about it for a sec and was pissed...but did nothing but flip a finger (they noticed) back at them. keep in mind this is now the third time we've given them a heads up of sorts they were too f'in close to us...so the second dbag hits HIS shot onto the front of the green as we're walking off it...(15 feet from where he hit)...i then proceed to wait for them to come where they can see me...as i threw both balls into the water. I said as i was walking to the next tee, "you're going to be hitting your fourth shots boys." you can all go off about how i was wrong haha. I was fed up with it. /end

I don't blame you at all. One time can be a mistake, if it happens again then they're just rude idiots.

Just getting into golf. Is this type of behavior really that common? Not only is this dangerous, you're just asking to get smacked.

One time, My step father and I were stuck behind an older couple (late 70s early 80s). We were really pushed for time and only wanted to play 9 holes. They could not hit the ball more the 75 yards on any given shot. After 3 grueling holes, my stepfather and I calmly went up to them and asked to move ahead. Turns out he knew the people and talked to them for 10 minutes (which didn't help out push of time). Finally, they let us go ahead and finished out the rest of the 9 holes skipping #4. We never hit at or near them also...
