Long story short, I can't hit the ball straight with my driver. If I line up straight I cut across the damn thing like it's no one's business and put a slice (or mega hook) on it. However, I can it pretty straight 45 degrees right with surprising consistency.

I did this 2 days in a row at the range. After hitting every club in the bag straight or with the tiniest baby fade (like a few yards at the most) including my 3 wood off the deck, I pulled out the big stick and sliced it. Then, I tried to hit a draw which didn't happen. However, if I lined up to the ball with my shoulders pointing right and my dropped back foot a little I could it it straight. I thought it was a fluke, but I hit probably 5 in a row dead straight 45 degrees right.

I went to the range the next day and sliced it all over the place again. Lined up right and hit my ball straight again....but way right.

I do feel like I'm coming from the inside with this swing, but if I rotated my body to where the ball was going straight it seems I would have a really open stance. I know a video would help a lot, but maybe this rings a bell with someone who's had the same problem.

When you closed your stance and body, and hit it straight way right, your clubface is still open. But you adjusted the swing path to cut down on the side spin.

When you line up straight away, does the ball start off right and go right? or does it start left and cut way right?

why not use the same stance just pointed to your target, not to the right. Drop your foot back a bit all while aiming for your target. Turn your whole body while in that stance counter clockwise as if you were a spinning display.

yeah that's an important factor.

if it starts right and then keeps going right you've sliced it. if it starts left then you've gone over the top.

How's your putting? Sounds like you'd be scratch if you left the driver at home.

Thanks for the replies. My drives start a little left (or straight) and cut right or I pull left on occasssion. The degree of slicing varies from a little to insanity. I know part of this is mental too which makes me expect nothing less than a slice from my driver.

stacks, I think I'm going to try just that next time I'm at the range. I couldn't go today, but I stepped outside today between rainshowers and simulated my swing to the right swing. When your swinging right it's very difficult to cut across it and I can feel a nice inside to out path. I just need to rotate everything 45 degrees somehow and commit to it.

    • I have nothing to add other than I freaking love her swing and I think she's hot as hell and some of my golfing buddies disagree so I fought them
    • I’m not sure I agree. It’s just what the majority find more entertaining. Most people prefer women’s gymnastics over men in the Olympics. How much hype is there with the men’s compared to the women’s? I bet you can rattle off several big names in women’s gymnastics and only a handful of men. Women’s tennis …same thing. And sure enough, their purses are the same. However, WNBA, awful…LPGA, not near as much interest than PGA. Don’t think it’s really that complicated IMO.

    • Hence your Avatar!😜 I drink a lot of water during the day if I’m playing or exercising. I get cramps otherwise.
    • If you walk up to a food/drink kiosk at Magic Kingdom and ask the person for a cup of "magic water" they will give you a small cup of Sprite for free. About 3 fingers worth. They don't sell alcohol at MK anymore so I go over to one of the courses while she hangs out there.
