whats everyones take on people who sit on the couch and look for golfers to make mistakes so they can call espn report them. I think its funny, but really come on i am no expert when it comes to rules to golf. I do know the basics, but some of the rules they call in for just suprise me. I would have never thought i could not replace my divot as the ball was rolling back to me, and I am still not to clear on it. Can anyone explain.

Unfortunetly that is the ONLY way some of them can win anything. The rest just plain don't have a life. And "yes" they drive me crazy.

You have to be a pathetic excuse for a human to call. These people should get a life.

These are the same guys who yell "Get in the hole!!" after a tee shot on a par 5. Plus, how do they get through to ESPN anyway? I've been banking at the same branch for 20 years and still can't get anybody on the phone but these guys can call ESPN and have the announcers talking about it in 2 minutes?

my get up and go musta got up and went..

Explanation last night was it is ok as long as your intent is not to improve your lie. Your intent is the major factor. Officials asked him at some point and his first reaction made them decide he was not intending on improving his lie for the next shot. Just repairing the divot.

I just watched the replay a bit ago. His ball does return to the exact spot and just bounces off his "repaired" divot. Without his influence chances are it would have stopped dead in the middle of it. (why people call is beyond me)

that makes sense, and the way espn explained it did not. I can see why the officials would question it, and i completly understand. The people who call in are just crazy.

Im also thinking, how do the announcers on tv know about it so quickly. As far as the divot repair, how could anyone possibly guess that the ball would end up in the exact same spot, you could probably take a free drop from that spot and not get that to happen. If he were trying to do that again like a trick shot it would be next to impossible to duplicate.

There was one of "those" guys on another forum who was foaming at the mouth to report that Phil Mickelson had accidentally hit Ernies ball. No one would tell him how and gave him heck for being "that guy" but he was undetered. They finally convinced him that it didn't happen as his "proof" was weak at best. He just wanted attention I guess no matter if it was negative or not.
