So I went to GolfSmith the other day to exchange a hat for another hat. I got a nike one which by the way is awesome looking and very comfortable. On the way out I saw a box of 50 Epoch golf tees for only 6.99 so I thought why not give them a try. I asked a couple people at the store what they thought of them, and they said they were great and that a lot of people come in and buy them. I was still skeptical since I had never heard of them before. The $6.99 box comes with 40 3 1/4 inch tees and 10 1 1/2 tees. I played with them yesterday, and only used 2 tees for 9 holes. My first one broke after about 3 holes, but the second one held up for the rest of the 9 hole round.

Pros
- very durable one tee could potentially last up to 18 holes or even more
- reduces resistance when hitting the ball
- feels very nice when hitting a driver or any other club off the tee
- sharp end hence very easy to stick into the tee box
- biodegradable
- inexpensive
- they fly backwards after you hit them which is very cool

I didn't really find any cons to these tees at all besides the fact that some players may not like the look of them or changing to a tee they are not familiar with.

What do you guys think about these tees if you've ever heard of them before? Would you be willing to switch to a plastic tee to get more driver distance?

I mean I've only played 9 holes with them, and the one that broke was probably because I used the long one for an iron shot and hit down on it really hard, but supposedly they don't break at all.

1- reduces resistance when hitting the ball

1 - Nonsense

2 - Nonsense. What a ridiculous comment. 3 - No more than any other tee, How is that "cool" anyway? 4 - No such thing. Never is, was or will be.

It's his opinion and if it helps him mentally then good for him I'm not sure why you are jumping all over this post. There's plenty of other posts about distances and how much people spin the ball that you could chime in on.

who shit in your cherios?

I have found Plastic Tee's to be more resiliant, ie don't break as often, but other than that, I notice no difference between them and wooden.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

I play them and they are good tees... I can play with one tee for a couple of rounds most of the time. I do not use tees on par 3 most of the time unless I want to hit a club a little higher on the club face to take some spin off...

I haven't tried these yet. I also found that the Launcher Tee is pretty much indestructable. Tees like these are great on the range. On the course, I don't want to go looking for it, but the price you stated sounds cheap enough not to worry about that. Good info, thanks.

what's wrong with a normal, cheaper plastic tee?

I've hit a shot off a can off of a empty can of coke before (ala John Daly).
Not much of a difference compared to my normal shot.
Resistance won't make a difference since the club is moving so fast.

Nice job taking my words out of context. Also, they do fly back more than other tees how would you know if you've never played them? I've never had tees that fly 6 feet behind me after my shot, and these definitely do. Also if you can't feel the difference between tees when you hit your obviously not that great of a player.

I don't want to sound like a jerk here nor start trouble but I consider myself to be a decent golfer and I do not feel the difference between tees... I just like the plastic ones because they do not break as easy....

What is the context? You're stating things which are not true.

I have played with them because I found one once. Anyone who thinks he can feel the difference between tees is a fool at best. If you believe you can, good luck to you. But you have been conned. Feel free to enjoy the "coolness" of a tee flying behind you occasionally.

+1

I never have troubles with snapping tees and I use wooden tees, so until I do start snapping them, I won;t be trying anything else.

I definitely can. Especially when I go from a rubber tee at the range to a plastic tee or wooden tee on the course. I wouldn't say I have been conned when I only payed $7 for 50 tees that will probably last me longer than 500 wooden tees will last you. Also, I will enjoy the tees flying backwards.
