  1. 1. which would you do?

    • play your way into shape by playing each week?
      38
    • practice and play 3-4 week intervals
      14
    • Give it up for a while, hire a coach, work on the game.

Instead of playing tournaments at 3-4 week intervals, don't you think that playing tournaments with regularity will get rust off and technique back sooner. Practice is good and it has worked in the past but wouldn't you think that "playing" your way back into game shape would be better at this time?

The scandal and pending divorce proceedings are too much of a distraction for him right now. Tiger needs to work through those problems and continue to work on his game. Ultimately he has the potential to come back as good or better than before but that page of the book hasn't been written yet.

I saw a therapist when I was going through my divorce (with kids) and he said figure 2 years after the legal mumbo-jumbo is done - and that is pretty close to what it took. Lucky for me I could afford a sabbatical for that time.

That two year number is one that I have heard many times. It took my ex-brother-in-law about that long. It took my best friend more like three years, and my sister (see ex-bro-in-law above) is still a disaster. It's different for everyone, but two years in supposed to be the "average".

I wish Tiger no ill-will, but I could not care less if he ever gets his game back together. Suffice it to say that I feel too much is made of sports celebrities (role models) these days. Very few live up to the hype. He's a great golfer, no doubt about it. But the first time I see my son throw a hissy like Tiger, will be the last time he plays golf for a long time!

My wife thinks he needs some female loving to jog his mind back into gear.

Apparently she doesn't know thats what got him here.

IMO, Tiger's problem is mostly mental right now. He just doesnt seem to have the fire and focus that he once did. I think he still has every shot in the bag, its just a matter of his brain being able to make his body string all those shots together for 4 straight rounds.
Right now I think Tiger should just take some time off, get his life straightened out and come back with golf being his main focus.

Do whatever the hell he wants regardless of what the public want him to do. He is not our slave.

Play as much as he wants, bang who he wants, live his own life, not the life the public wants him to.

He should play much more frequently, every week if possible. IMO he should never have taken the long hiatus, just fessed up to it all right away and carried on with his professional life while dealing with the personal issues. Easy for me to say I suppose but he made his own bed ....

Even a player at his skill level cannot afford to take such a professional "vacation", or at least he should expect to find it very tough to return to his former level of play. The whole "sex addiction therapy" was a silly waste of time IMO, but I daresay he was under a lot of pressure to do it. Looking back he may wish that he hadn't but such is life.

Excuse me .... but isnt the

No, getting

caught is what got him into his situation. He was doing just fine while he was banging all those hoes. I have been saying for a long time that Tiger needs to jump back on the ho train and get things going again. His marriage is over, he should just move on.

  • 2 weeks later...
Let's see, I'm 111th in the FedEx Cup standings. I'm getting looked at for a Ryder Cup spot that I DO NOT DESERVE. Maybe I should play in more events for these reasons:

1: I need Ryder Cup points
2: I need FedEx Cup points
3: I need Wins
4: I'm going to lose my #1 Ranking if I don't do something about it
5: I need to prove that I can still be competitive
6: I need to be sharp at Majors with tournament preparation
7: Without a swing coach, I need to test my game more often
8: If I can barely contend in strong fields, maybe a weaker field would help me find my comfort level

Diablo. 10 degree, neutral. (R-Flex)
F-Speed 15.5 degree 3 Wood (R)
A70s 19 degree hybrid (R)
2009 CG-7 Tour Irons (3-PW) (R)

I love how a bunch of guys on a forum that would sacrifice a testicle to play well enough to shoot +18 over four rounds in Tour conditions, feel the need and right to criticize, critique, and offer advice to the world #1 golfer....

    • Lemme guess….’ We don’t want any confrontation so nobody says anything.’ Sheesh…..Call him out and fix the problem.
    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
